Sauces and spices add depth and flavor to dishes. Fresh basil, cilantro, mint, coriander (cilantro), lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, garlic, chillies, chilli paste, soy sauce, tamarind juice, oyster sauce, palm sugar, coconut milk, lime leaves, galangal root, curry powder, shrimp paste, fish sauce, tamarind water, rice vinegar, etc. are commonly used.


What's the difference of curry and curried

There is no difference in spelling. Both words refer to the same thing: an Indian dish combining meat or vegetables with various seasonings.

Curry comes from the Hindi word kari meaning "to rub." This term refers to how the spice mixture is rubbed onto the food. Curry is typically prepared until the food is golden brown.

Curried dishes weren't always reserved for special occasions. Today, they can be enjoyed throughout India. You can choose from chicken, beef, lamb or fish as well as vegetables and rice.

Curried dishes are typically served alongside plain white rice. The most common accompaniments are raita (a yogurt paste) and chutney.


What is the importance and purpose of spices?

A spice is a seasoning that is used to enhance the flavor of food. Spices come in various forms, such as powders, liquids, gums, oils, pastes, and seeds. They are also called condiments and flavours.

Spice up your meals with a variety of spices. Numerous spices can be added to dishes for extra flavour and excitement.

A few drops of hot sauce can make a soup taste better. You could also add a few cayenne peppers to a cup of rice.

Fresh ingredients are best for experimenting with spicing. Buy organic dried herbs. Fresh herbs last longer than dried.

There are certain spices that are essential for cooking. But there are also some you might want to avoid. If you have a history liver disease, cinnamon sticks should be avoided. Although ginger also contains coumarin it is much less concentrated. People who do not have any liver problems are safe.


Can you add spice to a beverage?

I love how spices bring flavour to food. How can you make spices come to life when they are used in drinks?

Spices are wonderful because they can add depth and flavor to any beverage. There's nothing better than adding cinnamon or nutmeg in your glass of wine or beer, whether it's coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or cocktails.

But most recipes call for ground spices, meaning you'll need fresh whole spices. While this makes sense, it is costly, takes time and requires storage space.

This is where the magic happens. With a little creativity, you can make your favorite spices easy to use in powdered form. Then you can mix them into your favourite beverages to create delicious spiced drinks.

These powders can be made in two ways. The first involves the grinding of whole spices to make fine powder. Another method is to use a mortar & pestle to grind the spices until they are finely ground.

You'll find it easier to make powder than whole spices, regardless of the method. The powder is stable so you don't run low on stock.

Mixing spices can be fun to create new flavors. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. For spicy ginger tea, use ginger and cardamom capsules.

Once you are proficient in making powdered spice, you can also apply this technique to herbs. You can use basil, rosemary and thyme as common herbs.

The possibilities are endless. Use powdered spices to give your beverages extra flavour or to enhance the taste of dishes such as soups, salads, and pasta.


Almond Flour and Almond Meal: What is the Difference?

An almond meal, which can be used as an almond flour substitute, is more versatile than other almond flours because it can be used for baking and cooking, as well as making nut free dishes.

Almond flour can also be gluten-containing, which can make it difficult to digest. It's important to avoid gluten-free diets if your condition is celiac.

Almond flour isn't considered "superfood", but it is high in healthy fats, fibres, protein, vitamin E, and sodium.

The almond meal offers many nutritional benefits including iron, magnesium, zinc, manganese (thiamin), calcium, vitamin A, B1 and Vitamin C.

Almond flour is made from almonds and contains monounsaturated fat acids. Almond oil, however, contains polyunsaturated oils. Both types help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels.

Almond flour is also rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolics. These compounds are effective in preventing oxidative damages caused by free radicals.

In a study published in Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry, almond flour was found to have an antioxidant activity comparable to blueberries, cranberries or pomegranates and red wine grapes juice.

Do You Know How to Make Curry Paste?

Curry paste is made from dried chillies, shallots and galangal root. It also contains lemongrass, galangal root (lemongrass), lemongrass, kaffir Lim leaf, garlic, shrimp paste and sugar. It's a common ingredient in Thai cuisine.

Curry paste is one the most loved condiments in Southeast Asia. This unique flavor can be added to many dishes including curries, soups and stir-fries as well as rice dishes, noodles, desserts, and rice dishes.

It's not difficult to make at home! Follow our step by step guide below.

Step1 - Prepare Ingredients

  • Before starting the recipe, you will need to prepare all ingredients.
  • Peel and chop shallots (about two cups). Next, chop galangal root into small pieces (3 inches in length) and place aside.
  • Next, peel and slice garlic cloves (about four cloves). Finely chop the lemongrass stems to about 1/2 inch in thickness.
  • Then, crush dried red chilli peppers (about four tablespoons) and remove the seeds (optional).
  • Cut the kaffirlime leaves into small strips, approximately 5 inches in length. Take out the white part and place it in a bowl.
  • After that, wash and drain shrimp paste (about 6 ounces), then coarsely mash it.
  • Measure out the sugar and salt.

Step2 - Grind Ingredients

  • Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
  • The texture should be comparable to peanut butter.
  • Take note: If you are looking to reduce oil in your dish you can add water to the mix.

Step3 - Add Coconut Milk

  • Mix in coconut milk and stir well.
  • To prevent the coconut milk from becoming too sticky, slowly add it.
  • If you prefer less spice, add less chillies to the recipe and more galangalroot.
  • For a more spicy taste, increase the amount of chillies and reduce the use of galangal root. The final result should taste good to you.

Step4 -- Serve

  • Top with your favorite food.
  • Enjoy!
