Curried dishes are no longer reserved for special occasions. They're now commonplace in India. You can choose from chicken, beef, lamb or fish as well as vegetables and rice.
Plain white rice is often served with curried dishes. A raita (a yogurt-based sauce) or a chutney is another common accompaniment.
What is the use of garlic in Thai cooking?
Thai cuisine includes garlic. Garlic is commonly added to salads.
Thai garlic is fried in a mixture of shallots and ginger. You can also eat it with sticky rice.
Garlic is best chopped finely and mixed with oil, chilli paste, fish sauce, lime juice and oil. This is known as "Nam Phrik", or namphrik. Nam phrik is often served with grilled chicken or beef.
What are the common condiments, spices and seasonings they use in their Thai dishes?
Thai cuisine is a blend of influences from Asia. Its roots lie in India, China, and Southeast Asia.
Freshness is the most important ingredient in Thai food. Ingredients that are quickly cooked and picked at the right time will have more flavour. This is why meats and fish, as well as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and grains, are often eaten raw and served warm.
The addition of spices and sauces can add depth and aroma to dishes. Fresh basil, cilantro, mint, coriander (cilantro), lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, garlic, chillies, chilli paste, soy sauce, tamarind juice, oyster sauce, palm sugar, coconut milk, lime leaves, galangal root, curry powder, shrimp paste, fish sauce, tamarind water, rice vinegar, etc. These ingredients are common.
What's the difference in cooking with whole vs. ground spices? Ground Spices?
There is no difference in cooking with whole spices and cooked with ground spices. All spices are ground after harvesting. This ensures that there are no differences in the quality of spices.
However, this price differential is quite significant. Because of the labor involved in making whole spices, they cost more. But the flavour is worth it.
If you purchase whole spices in bulk, you might get an additional discount. An example: If you buy an entire bag full of cinnamon sticks, you might get a discount.
The same goes for nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc. You might be able to save money by buying these spices in bulk.
Ground spices don't last as long as whole spices. This is because ground spices lose their potency quickly due to oxidation.
We recommend buying whole spices because they add flavor to your recipes.
You can make delicious curry using whole turmeric, instead of ground turmeric. To make a spice mixture for chicken dishes, you can grind whole coriander seed.
The process of grinding spices takes a lot of time. When you buy whole spices, it makes sense to buy a large quantity. So that you don’t run out of spices, it’s a smart move.

How can I store my cooking spices?
How to store cooking spices in a way that maximizes their performance. First of all, we need to establish an understanding of the science behind the storage of foodstuffs.
Because spice's flavour is diminished by light exposure, it should be stored in airtight containers. This is due to oxygen combining with organic compounds, such as spices.
To avoid oxidation, spices must be kept in dark cupboards. If these conditions are not met, spices will quickly lose their flavour.
Keep spices fresh by storing them in airtight jars out of direct sunlight.
For a flavoured beverage, add herbs and spices. Mix 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon with 1/2 cup of warm liquid and stir. Serve immediately by adding a squeeze lemon juice.
Dried herbs can be added to soups stews, casseroles pasta dishes rice dishes salads and desserts. Spread the spice mixture evenly onto the dish. Allow it to sit for between 5-10 minutes before serving.
As snacks, leftover cooked vegetables and fruits can be added into your favourite recipes.
If you want to take advantage of the flavours of fresh herbs and spices, chop or tear them up and add them to foods while they're still hot. You can freeze herbs or spices by placing them on ice cube tray or muffin cups. Transfer frozen items to zip-top or freezer bags.
