Organic refers specifically to the method an agricultural product has been grown. Organic farming, for example, uses natural methods and soil amendments in order to grow crops. Conventional farming, however, uses pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
Foods labeled as organic must meet strict guidelines by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The National Organic Program Standards require that all organic foods are free of prohibited substances such as antibiotics and growth hormones, genetically modified organisms or industrial solvents. Organic food must also be free from toxic chemicals, petroleum based fertilizers, sewage effluents and ionizing radiation.
What are the benefits of organic farming?
Organic farming offers farmers a method of growing food that doesn't require the use of chemicals. Farmers don't need to worry that harmful pesticides could harm their crops or animals.
Organic farming also permits for the use of natural fertilizers. These fertilizers aid in the growth of healthy plants as well as reducing the amount chemical waste.
Organic farming is also eco-friendly. For example, organic farming uses composting techniques to re-use nutrients in the soil. This reduces pollution and conserves valuable resources.
Organic farming can increase crop yields and help the environment. This is because organic agriculture uses less water in the growing season.
Organic production methods also mean that farmers receive higher prices for their produce. Consumers who become more aware of the dangers of pesticides and chemical fertilizers demand healthier foods.
This raises the demand to produce organic food products. Organic farming is gaining popularity because of these reasons.
Is organic produce healthy?
There are two types. Those we grow or those we get from someone else. Although there are exceptions to each category, most of the answers to your question are yes. Organic food is safer because it does not contain any harmful chemicals.
In supermarkets all over North America, Europe Asia, Latin America, Latin America, and Africa, you can find organic food. Many grocery stores now stock organic food. This makes it easier to shop organic.

The USDA regulates organic farming practices. They require farmers to follow strict guidelines so that organic produce can be eaten safely. There are more than 30 million acres of US farmland that have been certified organic.
Organic food is often less expensive than conventional food. For the same amount, consumers pay less. Organic farms don't have the expense of expensive chemical inputs, such as insecticides and/or fungicides. They can charge lower prices.
In fact, according to the Environmental Working Group, organic food costs 10 percent less per pound than conventionally produced food. Organic food is an option if you want to improve your health and the health of your family.

There is no art in growing organic crops. There are many ways to safely grow organic crops.
Sustainable agriculture is sometimes called organic farming. This means that while it uses fewer resources than conventional methods, it provides the necessary nutrients to sustain life.
Crop rotation, crop rotation, cover cropping and composting manure are all organic farming methods. These techniques reduce soil erosion and increase water quality.
They also reduce chemical pollution of waterways. Many of us live in urban areas so we have access to local farms that produce organic produce.
There are two types for organic products certification. One is certified under the USDA National Organic Program. The other is certified independently by certifying authorities. Both require strict conformity to organic standards.

How To
What Organic Foods Are You Looking For?
Organic foods come from plants and animals without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or additives. They are made without genetic engineering and the application of ionizing radiance. The food must contain no artificial ingredients, colourings, flavour enhancers, or preservatives. It should not include genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
In 1845, Justus von Liebig, a chemist, first coined the term "organic", meaning "life-giving", to describe the properties and characteristics of manure. Most people associate organic production with food. In this context, organic means that the product contains only naturally occurring substances such as proteins, carbohydrates, fats, and minerals that occur in nature.
The global consumption of organic products has increased dramatically over the past decade. According to recent statistics, about 50% of the global population consumes at-least one organic product every day. This percentage continues to rise and is projected to increase by 70%, 80%, or 90% by 2020.
There are many reasons consumers choose organic products. Organic produce can be preferred for its taste; others prefer them for being healthier. Some people believe organic farming to be more environmentally friendly. But, non-organic products can be a good choice because there are ethical concerns over the treatment and welfare of farm workers.
While organic food is generally more expensive than traditional foods, prices do vary depending upon where you live. There are many factors that influence the cost of organic foods. One factor is the availability of land suitable for organic agriculture. Another factor is the cost of inputs, labour and materials required for organic agriculture. Other factors include transportation costs, marketing costs, and taxes. In Europe, for instance, the average price for organic food in Europe is 10% higher than its regular price.
These are the main differences in organic and conventional food.
- Organic produce is free from synthetic fertilizers, growth regulators, hormones, and antibiotics.
- Organic livestock is fed grasses and grains, rather than corn and soya meal.
- Organic milk comes from cows fed only grasses and hay.
- All organic raw materials are certified organic.
- Organic fruits, vegetables and their processing stages are free from pesticides and harmful chemicals.
- Organic meat, poultry and seafood are not subject to radiation.
- Raw nuts and seeds are soaked before use.
