Frequently Asked Questions
What uses is Thai spice?
Everyone has heard the term Thai spice, but not all know what it is. When we taste it, our mouths water and we wonder why we aren't eating more.
It isn't just any spice. It is an important ingredient that gives flavor and depth to bland dishes.
Many recipes call for Thai spice, but only a few have the actual thing. Let's discuss how to incorporate these tasty flavors into your meals.
Thais have been cooking with herbs, spices and other flavors since ancient times. Thai, which means "to make", comes from the Sanskrit word.
Most Thais like spicy food, even today. This preference is often explained by the hot climate in Thailand that makes it difficult to stay warm while drinking hot drinks. Thais consume more chili peppers than Americans and Europeans.
A local Asian grocery store is the best place to learn more about Thai spice. There you will find a variety of ingredients such as dried chilies fresh basil leaves curry paste and ground black pepper.
Whole peppercorns, whole cloves, cinnamon sticks and star anise may also be found.
Thai cuisine can use either dry or wet spices. Wet spices are ground finely, while dry spices are typically ground.
Dry spices are often added to a dish directly. A good example is chicken soup with ground red pepper. In order to make a paste out of wet spices, oil or butter is often used.
Wet spices are commonly used in marinades and sauces. Fish sauce, oyster sauces, sesame and sesame olive oils, curry paste and hoisin are some of the most common wet spice options.
If you want to try making Thai dishes at home, you need to know which spices go well with certain ingredients.
Red pepper flakes are recommended for beef. Use white pepper if you are using seafood like shrimp.
Finally, you can always order online if you don't have access to a good quality Asian market. This market has everything you need, including dried chilies as well as exotic herbs and spices.
Next time you're hungry, try one of these delicious Thai recipes!
What are the ten hottest spices?
Spices can be used to flavor foods and beverages. Some spices are more widely used than others. There are many varieties of spices. Let's examine the ten most famous spices and learn why they're so beloved.
Cooking is incomplete without spice. It adds flavor and aroma, but doesn't increase calories. Many spices are also rich in vitamins and minerals that can keep your body healthy.
Here are the ten best-selling spices.
- Cinnamon: This spice is known for improving digestion and lowering cholesterol. It is also known to help prevent flu and colds.
- Garlic - This spice helps boost immunity and fight infections. It can also help lower blood pressure by aiding digestion.
- Oregano: This spice improves athletic performance and energy levels. It helps to fight infection and improve memory.
- Black Pepper - This spice has many antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory qualities. It can also help reduce stress and heart disease.
- Basil -Basil contains vitamin K, calcium, and iron. It also helps fight cancer cells and boosts metabolism.
- Vinegar and Salt - These two ingredients create a delicious mixture. Both vinegar as well as salt are highly effective against viruses.
- Cloves - Clove oil is a natural remedy for toothaches and sore throats. It can also relieve muscle spasms or cramps.
- Ginger - Ginger has been proven to ease nausea and morning sickness during pregnancy. It can also clear your sinuses.
- Curry Powder - Curries have been around since ancient times. They were originally made with coconut milk. However, we use other oils or ghee bases.
- Turmeric - One of the oldest medicinal herbs.
You can add flavour to your next meal by using these ten most popular spices in place of salt. You might be surprised by what happens!
What is the most famous ingredient in Thai cooking?
In Thailand, two main ingredients make up the heart of all dishes: rice and curry. These two ingredients combine to produce a unique flavor.
This combination is known in Thailand as "Khao Pa Krai," meaning "the best dish." It happens when these two basic foods are combined and make a delicious, irresistible dish.
The same applies to life. The right combination of perseverance and hard work can bring you great success.
As Khao Pad Krai did, passion and purpose can be combined to make you successful. Combining them will produce something special.
When you are craving Thai food, don't forget to add rice and curry! Try out other ingredients and have fun!
Which Thai spice do I need to cook Thai food at home?
In order to cook authentic Thai food at home you will need five spices: black pepper (cayenne), coriander seeds (coriander seeds), turmeric and cinnamon. Each ingredient is unique and plays an integral role in the creation of delicious dishes.
Cinnamon adds sweetness, while black pepper brings out savoury flavours. Curry powder is given its characteristic yellow colour by turmeric and coriander seed. Cayenne peppers bring the heat while cilantro adds freshness. Finally, cinnamon can add depth and complexity in any dish.
Each of these spices can be found at your local grocery, but you may prefer to buy them online.
What are the 11 spices of Indian cooking?
The eleven spices of Indian cuisine are coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, mustard seeds, nigella seeds, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon sticks, dry red chili powder, turmeric, and cardamom.
These ingredients can be found used in almost every recipe. These spices add a unique flavor to dishes like curries, chutneys and pickles, rice, bread, and desserts.
Health benefits can also be attained from spices. Turmeric, for example, is known to fight cancer cells. Cloves protect against bad breath. Black pepper reduces cholesterol. Cinnamon lowers blood pressure. And ginger aids digestion.
A spice rack can be a wonderful kitchen tool, as it allows for you to try different flavors. You can either make your own spice blends or purchase ready-made spices.
Some people do not like to add spices to their food. They believe that spices only mask natural flavors and do nothing to improve them. A pinch of salt or pepper will not harm your dishes.
Most chefs agree that spices are a vital part of culinary art. Many dishes would taste bland and boring without spices. If you are feeling adventurous, try out a new dish and see what happens.
Almond Flour vs. Almond Meal. What's The Difference?
Almond meal can be substituted for almond flour and is versatile enough to be used in baking, cooking and even making nut-free meals.
Almond flour can also be gluten-containing, which can make it difficult to digest. If you have celiac disease or another digestive disorder, it's essential to avoid gluten-free foods.
Almond flour may not be considered a "superfood", per se, but it contains healthy fats as well as fibre, protein and vitamin E.
The almond meal provides nutritional benefits such as magnesium, iron, zinc and manganese. It also contains vitamin A, B1 (thiamin), C, and folate.
Almond flour is made with almonds. Almond oils contain polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. Both can lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol.
Almond flour is high in antioxidants including phenolics, flavonoids, and proanthocyanidins. These compounds help to prevent oxidative damage from free radicals.
An experiment published in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry showed that almond flour has an equivalent antioxidant activity to that of blueberries.
Almond flour is commonly sold together with almondmilk, which has additional nutrients.

How To Make A Garlic Press?
A garlic press is one of the most valuable tools in any home cook's arsenal. This allows you to quickly mince garlic and make smooth sauces, soups, and salad dressings. It is also useful for crushing whole cloves of garlic into buttery spreads and garlic salt.
It's possible to be confused if you don’t yet own a garlicpress. These tips will help you get started.
First things first: you'll need a large bowl. Place the bowl underneath the press and pour the crushed garlic into it. Now adjust the pressure regulator to the maximum.
Next, rotate the handle clockwise until it clicks. The top of the press should lift up and expose a flat surface. This will allow you slide the blade back-and-forth over the bowl. Continue to turn the handle counterclockwise, until the blades are closed.
Finally, remove the pressed garlic and enjoy!
These are just a few of the many ways you can use this versatile tool.
- Make minced garlic soups, sauces for salads, dips and seasonings.
- You can crush whole garlic cloves using the press to make a buttery spread
- Place whole garlic cloves in a pizza dough and crush them before baking
- Make roasted garlic mashed potatoes, or creamy polenta.
- Use the press to make homemade pesto out of garlic
- Puree garlic in a smooth vinaigrette
