Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most common spices, condiments and seasonings that Thais use in their cuisine?

Thai cuisine is a mixture of Asian influences. It is rooted in India and China along with Southeast Asia.

Freshness is the key ingredient in Thai cuisine. You get more flavor if ingredients are picked in the early stages of cooking and then cooked quickly. This is why meat, fish and vegetables, as well fruits, vegetables, herbs, seeds, and nuts are often eaten raw, then heated.

Spices and sauces add complexity and fragrance to dishes. Fresh basil, cilantro, mint, coriander (cilantro), lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, garlic, chillies, chilli paste, soy sauce, tamarind juice, oyster sauce, palm sugar, coconut milk, lime leaves, galangal root, curry powder, shrimp paste, fish sauce, tamarind water, rice vinegar, etc. These are often used.

What are the 11 spices of Indian cooking?

The eleven spices of Indian cuisine are coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, mustard seeds, nigella seeds, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon sticks, dry red chili powder, turmeric, and cardamom.

These ingredients are used in almost every dish. These spices add a unique flavor to dishes like curries, chutneys and pickles, rice, bread, and desserts.

The health benefits of spices can be found in their medicinal properties. To fight cancer cells, turmeric is an example. Cloves protect against bad breath. Black pepper reduces cholesterol levels. Cinnamon lowers blood pressure. And ginger aids digestion.

A spice rack can be a wonderful kitchen tool, as it allows for you to try different flavors. You can mix your own spices or purchase ready-made spice mixes that include many essential spices.

Some people don't like spices. These people believe spices are a masking agent and do not enhance natural flavors. A pinch of salt or pepper will not harm your dishes.

Most chefs agree that spices are an essential part of cooking art. Without them, many dishes would be bland and tasteless. Try a new recipe next time you feel adventurous.

Thai food uses paprika?

Yes. It's an ingredient in many dishes including Pad See Ew (Thai Fried Rice), and eggs cooked in coconut milk.

Paprika is found in Thai food and Mexican, Italian, Spanish, Indian, Chinese, French, Moroccan, Middle Eastern, Lebanese, Greek, Turkish, and Balkan cuisines.

Paprika can also be traced back to Ancient Greece, more than 5,000 year ago. The Hungarian language means "pepper" and the word "paprika".

How To

How to Make a Garlic Press

A garlic presse is an indispensable tool for home chefs. This allows you to quickly mince garlic and make smooth sauces, soups, and salad dressings. It is great for crushing whole garlic cloves in a buttery spread, or garlic salt.

You might be wondering where to begin if you don’t have a garlic press. We have some tips to help get you started.

First things first: you'll need a large bowl. Place the bowl under the pressure regulator and pour the crushed garlic inside. Now, turn the pressure regulator to maximum.

Next, move the handle clockwise so that you hear a click. You will be able to slide the blade over the bowl by lifting the top part of your press. Keep turning the handle clockwise until you reach the end of the blades.

Finally, take out the pressed garlic.

These are just a few of the many ways you can use this versatile tool.

  • Use minced garlic in soups, sauces and salads as a seasoning or even as a garnish.
  • Use the press for whole garlic cloves to make a buttery spread
  • Place whole garlic cloves in a pizza dough and crush them before baking
  • Mix roasted garlic in mashed potatoes or creamy pasta.
  • The press can be used to make pesto from garlic
  • Puree garlic into a smooth vinaigrette
