Twisted bacon

Twisted bacon is the newest viral recipe and we are SO grateful.

The recipe originally came from Abby Durlewange of @HouseofKeto and was viewed more than 1.6 million times. This influencer shares recipes and claims that her whole family (even kids & dogs) follow a Keto diet. There were obviously some opinions that came from the last statement, but we’re just here for the bacon!

Why you will Love this recipe

I don’t really think I need to explain why you’ll love a recipe-focused only on bacon, but I’ll try! So what sets this bacon apart from “regular” bacon is the texture that is created when cooked twisted. It becomes chewy and juicy, but still crispy at the same time. The cooking time can be adjusted if you like your bacon less or extra crispy.

The bacon is lightly seasoned with honey and black pepper giving it that sweet savory flavor we all dream about. It is also baked in the oven, so you get to just pop the pan of bacon in & go about your business.

Is Twisted Bacon Healthy?

Twisted Bacon is Keto (below replace the honey forerythritol or stevia) and Whole 30-friendly. It is not vegetarian-friendly, but some might change their mind after getting a whiff of this mouthwatering bacon. Pair it with Scrambled Eggs with Cottage Cheese for the ultimate protein-packed breakfast.

Bacon itself is high in protein and low in carbohydrates. It also contains various B vitamins and potassium.

What is the point of twisting bacon?

Twisting bacon allows it to cook more evenly and locks in that greasy goodness. It gives you the perfect combination of chewy and crispy. Also, since it is twisted, instead of flat it gives you much more space for … you guessed it… MORE BACON!

To twist your bacon we recommend using wooden skewers. Be sure to soak the skewers in water beforehand. You can enjoy the bacon on or off the sticks when they are done cooking. If you do not have skewers simply twist the bacon tightly, and place each piece snug next to each other on the baking pan so they do not come undone.

Not only does twisted bacon give you the best texture possible, it looks cooler than regular old bacon. These can be placed in a savory Classic Bloody Mary, for a twist (get it?) or used to decorate your Maple Bacon Gluten-Free Cupcakes.

FAQs & Tips

How to Make Ahead and Store?

If you make too much Twisted Bacon or need to make it ahead, it can be stored in an airtight container for up to five days.
To reheat pop them in the microwave for thirty seconds or in the oven at 400 for 3 – 5 minutes.

Can I make twisted bacon in my air fryer?

Yes! Just twist up the bacon the same way, and place in the air fryer basket at 350 for 8 -12 minutes.

Does any bacon work?

I recommend using thick-cut bacon for the best outcome. You can even use turkey bacon if that is your preference.

Tip & Trick 1

While this recipe is sweet and savory with honey and black pepper, you can use any spice that compliments your meal or your craving. Feel free to use garlic or onion powder, brown sugar or everything bagel seasoning.

Tip & Trick 2

Let the bacon sit on a few sheets of paper towel to allow some of the grease to absorb. You can also place them on a cooling rack. This will make them a little crispier and have some grease drip off as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the uses of Thai spice?

We all have heard the term Thai spices, but we don't understand what it really means. But when we discover our mouths water, we wonder why we haven't been eating more of it.

It's much more than a spice. It is an important ingredient that gives flavor and depth to bland dishes.

While there are thousands of Thai-inspired recipes out there, few of them contain the real thing. Let's find out how to add these wonderful flavors to your dishes.

As far back as ancient times, Thais have been cooking with herbs and spices to add flavor to food and beverages. Thai derives its name from the Sanskrit phrase "to cook".

Most Thais like spicy food, even today. This preference can be attributed to Thailand’s hot weather. It is difficult to stay warm when you don't have something to drink. Thais consume more chili peppers than Americans and Europeans.

You can learn the most about Thai spices by visiting a local Asian grocery. There are many options available, including dried chilies as well as fresh basil leaves and curry paste.

You may also come across whole peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cardamom pods, ginger root, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, nutmeg, mace, mustard seed, saffron threads, garlic, onion, rice vinegar and tamarind juice.

Thai cuisine uses both dry and wet spices. Wet spices are ground finely, while dry spices are typically ground.

Dry spices are often added to a dish directly. A good example is chicken soup with ground red pepper. In order to make a paste out of wet spices, oil or butter is often used.

Wet spices are often used in sauces, marinades, and dressings. Common wet spices include oyster sauce, fish sauce and sesame oils, curry paste, hoisin sauce, and sesame seed oil.

You need to be able to match certain spices with Thai ingredients if you wish to make Thai food at home.

For example, red pepper flakes is recommended for beef. Use white pepper if you are using seafood like shrimp.

If you don't live near an Asian market, you can order online. You can find everything here, from dried chilies to exotic spices and herbs.

You might want to try these Thai recipes next time you feel hungry.

Does Thai use ginger?

Yes. Ginger is used extensively in traditional Thai cooking. Ginger is often used to make stir-fries and soups. It is also used in desserts, drinks, such a lassis.

Ginger is a common ginger plant in China, Japan, Korea, and elsewhere. Its origins can be traced back to more than 5,000years ago. It is believed that ginger originated in Southeast Asia where it was grown for medicinal purposes.

Ginger is known to stimulate digestion and relieve nausea. It may even help prevent migraines. Ginger can also be used to treat arthritis, muscle spasms, joint pains, or relieve them.

Ginger is often eaten fresh in Thailand. The ginger root is then cut into thin strips. Once dried, it can be stored for future use. Asian markets sell ginger root in cans and cans.

How to Store Spices

Keep them away from heat and light.

If you want to keep spices fresh for a long time, place them into a dark cupboard. This will help preserve the spices and prevent oxidation.

Store your spices in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. If the spice is placed near a heater or window, it may lose its flavour and aroma.

Spices can be best kept in an airtight container or tin. Make sure that there is no moisture in any plastic containers you store spices in.

It is vital to always check the seal after opening, resealing and before storing.

Don't throw out any spice leftovers. Use them instead by adding them into other dishes. You can even freeze them to extend their shelf life.

What is the most famous ingredient in Thai cooking?

Thailand has two main ingredients that make up the heart and soul of all dishes: rice, curry, and steamed vegetables. These two elements combine to create a memorable flavor.

In Thailand, we call this combination "Khao Pad Krai," which means 'the best dish.' This is because when these two basic foods are combined into a single dish, they become incredibly delicious and irresistible.

The same is true of your personal life. If you combine hard work with perseverance, you can achieve great success.

As Khao Pad Krai did, passion and purpose can be combined to make you successful. If you put them together, you'll produce something extraordinary.

When you are craving Thai food, don't forget to add rice and curry! Try experimenting with other ingredients and see how much fun it can be!

How To

How to Cut Shiitake Mushrooms

The shiitakes grow well. They are fine. However, how do you cut them without cutting yourself? We have tried every method, including using scissors. We keep losing them. What's the problem?

Well, there's a trick for that. Use a rubber band to secure the stem of your mushroom. That way, you won't slip and cut yourself.

You may think it sounds too easy. It is. But it's also very effective.

The rubber band makes stems slippery, making them feel more natural when picked up. It doesn't hurt to keep the stem in place.

You can now try it. You'll be amazed how easy it is to cut mushrooms.
