Discover the secrets to mixing the perfect James Bond Martini. The Vesper drink is a sophisticated cocktail that's as stylish as 007 himself.
Table of Contents
Take a cocktail glass with a smooth, chilled rim and fill it with a super-clear drink that glows in the warm light. Just a tiny sip and you're done! You'll understand why James Bond has been raving about this drink for decades. This is a Vesper, aka the James Bond Martini. I will show you exactly how to make this drink.
This is not your typical cocktail. It's much more. The cocktail has a much longer history than Bond films. It was popularized by Bond in his book Casino Royale. (Yes, Bond started as a book). When I made my first Vesper cocktail, I felt as if I had joined an elite group (not of super-secret spies, but of cocktail connoisseurs). When I mixed the gin, vodka and Lillet Blanc together, I felt edgy and excited. This is not your typical party drink. This drink isn't like a Gibson or a classic Martini. This is not your typical gin and vermouth combination; it tells a story.
Ingredients
Vesper is a cocktail that uses both vodka and gin, so there's no need to pick!
- 3 oz. Gin
- 1 oz. vodka
- 0.5 oz. Lillet Blanc
- Lemon twist as a garnish
Equipment Required
- Cocktail Glass
- Mixing glass
- Long barspoon
- Jiggeror a measuring tool
- Strainer
- Lemon-cutting knife and board
Instrucciones
Mix the gin with the vodka and Lillet Blanc.
Stir
Pour ice into the mixing glass and mix the ingredients for 20 seconds, or until the mixture is well chilled.
Strain
Strain into a chilled glass. Serve immediately with a twist of lemon.
How to make a healthy / low-calorie Vesper drink
Unfortunately, this smooth as butter James Bond Martini has as many calories as butter. This is a delicious treat, but it has about 200 calories. If you are like me, you live a healthy lifestyle (or at least pretend to! You might want something lighter that you can enjoy more frequently (or just as much but with less guilt).
Why not experiment with some other brands. Both vodka and gin, two of the most popular alcoholic drinks, have lighter versions that are lower in calories but still tasty. can be used to swap out Lillet Blanc for a dry vermouth, which is less sweet. However, this may alter the taste a bit. Don't let excitement overtake you. measure out your pours to avoid accidentally splashing a double. ).
If you're looking for Vesper mocktail then choose a nonalcoholic gin and nonalcoholic vodka with a splash white grape juice and a hint lime. This alcohol-free version of Vesper retains all the intrigue and complexity.
How to make the perfect Vesper drink
- Serve the Vesper in a well-chilled Cocktail Glass. It makes a huge difference to use the right glass. This glass will keep your Vesper cool and give it a sophisticated look.
- The same is true for the ingredients. Chill the gin and your vodka for a couple of hours in the freezer before mixing.
- Vesper is no different. To achieve perfection, it's important to measure accurately. The key is a good measuring tool or jigger. To keep flavors balanced, use the 3:1:0.5 formula (gin, vodka and Lillet Blanc).
- In contrast to Bond, who prefers shaking , a vesper requires stirring . Stirring maintains clarity whereas shaking creates aeration.
- Lemon twists are both beautiful and tasty. Peel the peeler in a long spiral to avoid the bitter white pith. Twist it before you drop it into the drink. This will release all of its aromatic oils.
FAQs
The average Perfect James Bond Martini has around 200 calories per drink. Depending on which brands you choose and how generously you pour, you can adjust the calories. Check out my earlier tips for how to slim it down without sacrificing flavor if that number makes your heart race.
Take a sip and let the flavors linger.
Lillet Blanc has a distinct kick you can't get from dry Vermouth. Vermouth may give you a similar feeling, but it won't have the same flavor. If you want to achieve the classic Vesper flavor, use Lillet Blanc. Otherwise, you can just as easily make a Classic Martini.
How about putting your Vesper in high gear? Add a dash of Champagne to give it a touch of sophistication. It will also add a slight effervescent quality.
How to Prepare and Store the Perfect James Bond Martini
It is best to serve this cocktail immediately after mixing it. Cold glass and chilled ingredients. Preparing it is not recommended (as cocktails go, it's a pretty easy one to make, so it wouldn't save you much time).
You can keep leftovers fresh by putting them in an airtight container (without the ice). Remember to stir it well and serve cold the next day.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the typical spices, condiments, and seasonings used in their dishes in Thailand?
Thai cuisine is a blend of influences from Asia. Its roots lie in India and China, along with Southeast Asia.
Freshness is the key ingredient in Thai cuisine. There is much more flavour when ingredients are picked early and cooked quickly. This is why meats and fish, as well as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and grains, are often eaten raw and served warm.
The addition of spices and sauces can add depth and aroma to dishes. Fresh basil, cilantro, mint, coriander (cilantro), lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, garlic, chillies, chilli paste, soy sauce, tamarind juice, oyster sauce, palm sugar, coconut milk, lime leaves, galangal root, curry powder, shrimp paste, fish sauce, tamarind water, rice vinegar, etc. are used frequently.
Almond Meal vs. Almond Flour: What's the Difference?
An almond meal, which can be used as an almond flour substitute, is more versatile than other almond flours because it can be used for baking and cooking, as well as making nut free dishes.
Almond flour can also be gluten-containing, which can make it difficult to digest. If you have celiac disease or another digestive disorder, it's essential to avoid gluten-free foods.
Almond flour may not be considered a "superfood", per se, but it contains healthy fats as well as fibre, protein and vitamin E.
The almond meal provides nutritional benefits such as magnesium, iron, zinc and manganese. It also contains vitamin A, B1 (thiamin), C, and folate.
Almond flour, made from almonds contains monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oil. Both types reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase HDL ("good") cholesterol.
Almond flour is high in antioxidants including phenolics, flavonoids, and proanthocyanidins. These compounds help to prevent oxidative damage from free radicals.
A study published in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry found that almond flour had antioxidant activity equivalent to that of blueberries, cranberries, pomegranates, and red wine grape juice.
Almond flour is commonly sold together with almondmilk, which has additional nutrients.

How to Store Spices
Keep them in an airtight, dry container away from heat or light.
Place them in a dark cupboard to store spices for extended periods. This will preserve them and prevent any oxidation.
Keep spices away from direct sunlight in a dry, cool place. It is possible for the spice to lose its flavor and aroma if it's placed in close proximity to a window or heater.
Spices are best stored in an airtight glass jar or tin. Avoid storing spices in plastic containers.
Check the seal every time you open and reseal it. Heat can cause moisture to spoil your product.
Don't throw out any spice leftovers. Use them instead by adding them into other dishes. You can even freeze them to extend their shelf life.
What kind of mint are used in Thai cuisine?
Thai cuisine's most used type is lime-leaf, or Mentha cervina.
Its mild, lemony taste adds freshness and zest to dishes. Thai dishes are enhanced with other spices, such as galangal and coriander.
Mint can be used in sweet or savoury dishes. Using the right spices, herbs, and aromatics is essential to achieving delicious authentic Thai flavours.
If you're making Thai dishes, be sure to include lime-leaf fresh mint!
Happy cooking!

How To
How do you make a garlic press?
A garlic press is one of the most valuable tools in any home cook's arsenal. It can be used to quickly mince garlic into a paste. You can also crush whole garlic cloves to make buttery spreads or garlic seasonings.
However, if you don’t already have a garlic pressing machine, you might wonder how to get one. Luckily, we've got some tips to help you get started.
First, you need a large dish. Place the bowl under the pressure regulator and pour the crushed garlic inside. Now, set the pressure regulator valve to the maximum.
Next, rotate the handle clockwise until it clicks. The top end of the press should lift and reveal a flat area that allows you to slide your blade back and forth across the bowl. Continue turning the handle counterclockwise to close the blades.
Finally, take out the pressed garlic.
These are just a few of the many ways you can use this versatile tool.
- You can add minced garlic to soups and sauces, salads, dips, or as a seasoning.
- You can crush whole garlic cloves using the press to make a buttery spread
- Put whole garlic cloves on top of pizza dough, before you bake
- Combine roasted garlic with mashed potatoes and creamy polenta
- Make pesto with garlic mashed in the press
- Blend the garlic into a smooth vinegar dressing
