For now, love yourself and enjoy this one ...

Now love yourself and enjoy this one ...

This peach martini has a little raspberry vodka kick and is a lighter, adult drink that is sure to be a hit! Great for summer sipping!

Skinny Raspberry Peach Martini - An easy, sugar free martini with only 150 calories! Perfect for summer entertaining! | Foodfaithfitness.com | @FoodFaithFit

I see you in your fancy-person-Friday-night clothes, waltzing up to the bar and ordering your martini shaken, not stirred.

But, have you ever tried to order it shaken AND stirred. You should, because then the bar tender thinks you’re a little bit-ok-totally nuts and he gives you the “should I be cutting you off right now?” eyeballs.

So, maybe don’t ask him that. Unless you want to end your night before it even STARTS.

You may have learned by now that my ideas are always terrible life choices and you should NEVER EVER LISTEN TO THEM.

Except when I tell you to shake AND stir this peach martini. But ONLY this one. In the comfort of your own house without the judgey-person-bartender ways. You understand.

If you’re wondering how I know to NEVER EVER SHAKE a martini that involves beverages of the carbonated variety, well…I tried it.

Picture me. Covered in martini. Also add my whole kitchen covered in martini and me possiblymaybe downing a few swigs of raspberry vodka in attempt to make myself feel better about the mess I literally am in.

Buuuut, your logical-human brain probably didn’t even wonder why you should shake and stir it. You already figured out the bad things would ensue if you did not. Well aren’t YOU smart.

Anyway.

Do you have “those people in your life?” You know the ones that make you so nervous to invite over because they-so-fancy-they-already-knowwwww and you feel this immense need to be all sorts of impressive, so you serve goat cheese and white wine pasta, or stuffed chicken breasts, and pretend like it’s NO BIG DEAL, and your fancy-face eats food like that ALL the days because you live a classy-person-life LIKE THAT?

Which BASICALLY means that your whole friendship is a lie because you really sit around in your pajamas and eat leftover healthy mac and cheese every night. Not that I speak from experience.

WELL, this is the kind of martini that you make AFTER they leave, you know, to de-stress. It takes 5 minutes (Holla to your inner-quick-and-easy-recipe-cheeseburger-mac-loving-self!) but it also caters to your fake-fanciness because it’s got fresh, muddley peaches. You know, like those swanky adult beverages that you get at bars with dim lighting, so that you can’t see how small the food your order is. Or the price tag associated with the mega-mini-munch.

I know you’ve been to them.

P-L-U-S. They’re sugar free (the rim doesn’t count) filled with skin-glowy-super food raspberries, and made with good-for-you sparkling water

And you just had a rough night of not being yourself with all your entertaining, hospitable-ness. So, you should probably make 2.

Because sparkling water = hydration.

I dunno about you, but I’ll drink to that.

Peach Martini Recipe

Peach Martini will take your summer to a whole other level. Bright, fruity, and boozy!
Course Cocktails
Cuisine Raspberries
Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 2

Author FoodFaithFitness

Ingredients

  • Organic Cane Sugar For rimming, optional
  • 2 ounces Raspberry Vodka Plus additional for rimming, optional
  • 2 small Fresh Peaches Diced, about 1 1/4 cups
  • 2 ounces Peach Schnapps
  • 4 ounces Lemon-Lime Flavored Sparkling Seltzer Water
  • Frozen Raspberries For garnish

Instructions

  • Rim the Glass (optional):
  • Pour some raspberry vodka into a small, shallow plate. You need just enough to cover the bottom. Pour some cane sugar into a small, shallow bowl.
  • Place a martini glass upside down into the vodka, until it just coats the rim. Then, place the rim of the martini glass into the sugar, gently turning until coated. Shake off any excess and repeat with the remaining glass. Set aside.

For the Cocktail:

  • Place the diced peaches into a martini shaker and muddle until very broken down and juicy.
  • Add the raspberry vodka and peach schnapps. Place the lid on and shake hard.
  • Strain the mixture between the martini glasses, until each is about 1/2 full. You may need to shake the martini shaker around every so often to move the peaches around, and get more juice out.
  • Pour 2 oz of the lemon-lime flavored seltzer water into each glass and gently stir.
  • Garnish with frozen raspberries, if desired, and sip away!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cooking Whole and Ground Spices? Ground Spices?

There is no difference between cooking whole spices and with ground spices. After harvesting, all spices are ground. It doesn't make a difference in terms of quality.

But the price gap is significant. Whole spices can be more expensive due to the labor involved in their processing. But the flavour is worth it.

Buy whole spices and you'll often receive additional discounts. A whole bag of cinnamon sticks might be eligible for a discount.

The same goes for nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc. These spices can be purchased in bulk to save money.

Ground spices don't last as long as whole spices. Ground spices lose their potency rapidly due to oxygenation.

We recommend buying whole spices because they add flavor to your recipes.

You can make delicious curry using whole turmeric, instead of ground turmeric. For chicken dishes, whole coriander seeds can be ground to make a spice blend.

Grinding spices takes time. A large amount of whole spices is a good idea. This will ensure that you don't run out of spices quickly.

What are the main Flavours of Thai Cooking?

Thai cuisine includes several distinct regional cuisines. There are five main types of Thai cuisine: Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern. Each region has a distinct flavour profile.

Thai food is known for its sweet, salty and sour flavors.

Thais value sweetness as it makes the food more enjoyable. Sweet ingredients such as palm sugar (gula melaka) and coconut milk play a significant role in Thai cuisine.

Thailand's most popular food is sourness. Hot dishes often pair well with sour foods. This helps to balance the heat.

Thai food includes spicy food. Spices such as chilli pepper, galangal, ginger root, and garlic are used extensively in Thai recipes.

What Thai spice is needed to make Thai food at my home?

For authentic Thai cooking at home, you need to be familiar with five essential spices: cayenne, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper. Each ingredient is unique and plays an integral role in the creation of delicious dishes.

Cinnamon brings out the sweetness of black pepper, while white pepper enhances the savoury flavours. Coriander seeds provide a spicy kick and turmeric gives curry powder the yellow color it is known for. Cayenne peppers are hot, and cilantro adds freshness. Finally, cinnamon can add depth and complexity in any dish.

Each of these spices can be found at your local grocery, but you may prefer to buy them online.

What mint is used in Thai food?

Thai cuisine has the most widespread use of lime-leaf mint (Mentha certvina).

It is mild and lemony in flavour, which adds freshness as well as zing to dishes. Thai dishes often include other spices such as galangal (lemongrass), garlic, and coriander.

Mint is a versatile herb and can be used in both sweet and savoury recipes. You can create authentic Thai flavours by choosing the right herbs, spices, and aromatics.

next time you make a Thai dish, don't forget to include some lime-leaf mint for extra flavour!

Happy cooking!

What is the difference between curry and curried?

The spellings are the same. Both words refer to the same thing: an Indian dish combining meat or vegetables with various seasonings.

Curry derives its name from the Hindi word kari which means "to rub." The spice mixture is then applied to the food. Curried foods are typically cooked until browned.

Although curried dishes used to be reserved for special occasions, today they are enjoyed all over India. They can be made with chicken, beef or lamb and include vegetables as well.

Plain white rice is commonly served with curried meals. Other common accompaniments include raita (a yogurt sauce) and chutney (a sweet relish).

Statistics

  • According to a recent survey, professional chefs and many home cooks use spices; usage has only continued to grow from 2011 to now. (hospitalityinsights.ehl.edu)
  • It has been estimated that around 1,000 tons of pepper and 1,000 tons of other common spices were imported into Western Europe each year during the Late Middle Ages. (en.wikipedia.org)
  • According to the McCormick Science Institute, indigenous Indian spices were cultivated as early as the 8th century BC in the gardens of Babylon. (spicecravings.com)

How To

How to cut Shiitake Mushrooms

The shiitakes seem to be doing well. There is nothing wrong with them. They are fine. But how can we make them cut without hurting ourselves? We've tried everything. Even the scissors. We keep losing them. What's the matter?

It's possible to do this by using a trick. Place a rubber band on the stem of the mushroom and twist it tight. This will ensure that you don't fall and break your wrists.

You may think it sounds too easy. Well, it is. It's also extremely effective.

The rubber band makes it slippery so that it feels natural when you pick up the stem. The stem can be held securely.

You can now try it. It will be so much easier to cut mushrooms than ever before.
