This recipe for peach baked oatmeal with butter is amazing because it made everyone in the studio quiet. It was a rare moment when our group of lively people were all together! This easy breakfast will be a favorite. It is crispy and caramelized outside, and velvety inside. Did I mention that this baked oatmeal is just a bit over $1 per serving? This recipe is a must-try!
What is baked oatmeal?
It's exactly what you think it is. Oats are mixed with liquids, sweeteners, fats (such as butter), and other flavors and textures, such as nuts and fruits. It absorbs the flavors you add to it, so that it tastes great. It is less custardy in my recipe than the other baked oatmeal recipes on our website. It's more like pasta, with a bit of bite. It's because I'm using less liquid so that the oats keep their shape and have these golden crispy edges... OMG! I can't write about this anymore, or I'll end up in my home at 10 at night making baked oatmeal like a mad person. You can trust. It's fantastic.
Ingredients For Baked Oatmeal
You can make it however you like. You can add any nuts, fruits, or spices that you want. You'll need the following ingredients to make my favorite combo:
- Oatmeal - Avoid instant oats, as they turn into mush very quickly. Instead, use old-fashioned oats for a more satisfying texture. You can bake steel cut oats but the ratio of liquid to oats is different and I've not tested it, so I cannot give you any directions.
- Peaches - I prefer to use them canned in their juices, since I will be using the juices for the recipe. You'll also need to add one cup of water if you are using frozen or fresh peaches. You can also substitute apples, bananas or pears for peaches, adding one cup of water.
- Butter - Because you cannot get crispy edges without it, and crispy edges are everything. If you are dairy-free, substitute with vegan butter.
- Cream - creates a velvety texture. You can also use whole milk, but I would add another tablespoon of butter. If you don't want to use dairy, try coconut cream. Make sure that it is full-fat. You need it.
- Eggs will help bind oatmeal. You can use 2 bananas instead of eggs if you prefer.
- Brown Sugar - Mixes with butter to produce deep caramel notes. You can replace it with any sweetener of your choice.
- Vanilla and Cinnamon- season the oatmeal. These spices pair beautifully with peaches, and they help to elevate their flavors.
How to make the best baked oatmeal
- Use old-fashioned instead of quick oats. Your baked oatmeal will have a chewier texture if you use old-fashioned oats.
- Do not overmix your batter. Don't overmix the batter. Mix ingredients until barely combined.
- The oatmeal should be baked until it is cooked through. A poorly baked oatmeal will become mushy. The oatmeal should have a little bite.
Baked Oatmeal Toppers
You can add some extra flavor to your Peach Baked Oatmeal by topping it with our Homemade Whipping Cream. You can also add Strawberry Syrup or Blueberry Sauce. You can even go crazy and combine all four! Editor's note: I realize it may seem like a lot of sugar to Beth, but imagine how wonderful it would be to begin your day with this kind of decadence. Do not fight it.
StoringLeftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container. This will prevent the oatmeal from becoming soggy. Baked oatmeal should be stored in an airtight container. The baked oatmeal will last up to 3 days in the fridge and 3 months in the freezer. Microwave it for a couple of minutes to steam.

How to make Peach Baked Oatmeal: Step by step photos
Set your oven to 375degF and place a rack at the center. Drain and reserve the juices from the two (15oz cans) of peaches. Pour the peaches in a 13x9 baking dish. Reserve six slices to garnish. Add 1/4 cup of brown sugar to peaches. Sprinkle peaches with 1/2 a stick of butter, diced. Finish with 1/4 teaspoon vanilla.
Add 3 cups old-fashioned oats or rolled oats into a large bowl. Mix well 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon with the 1/4 cup remaining brown sugar.
Mix 1/2 cup heavy cream with 1 cup peach juice and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla. Mix in the two beaten eggs. Stir the wet mixture into the oatmeal until it is incorporated.
Over the peaches, dollop on the oats. Sprinkle the remaining butter, diced into 4 tablespoons. Garnish the dish with peach slices.
Bake for 45 minutes or until golden and crispy. Let it cool for 15 minutes, then serve! If you can. This is something I have yet to achieve. But I'm not opposed to eating peach-flavored lava. You do you.) I serve it with some cream in a bowl I keep refilling over and again. Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you know if your food is organic?
Any chef will tell you fresh ingredients are more important than any other ingredient. Because we feel better when we eat well.
This holds true for our food. Organics are traceable back to the source and provenance of their products. We also know it was not treated using harmful chemicals.
Organic food does not contain synthetic pesticides, fertilers, hormones or antibiotics. These substances aren't permitted for organic farmers.
Organic farming doesn't have to be difficult. There are many methods to safely grow them.
Many people refer to organic agriculture as sustainable agriculture. This is because organic farming uses less resources than conventional methods but provides enough nutrients for life to last.
Organic farming techniques include crop rotation and cover cropping. These techniques help prevent soil erosion and improve water quality.
They also reduce chemical pollution of waterways. Local farms can be found in cities that raise organic produce.
There are two types certified programs for organic products. One is certified through the USDA National Organic Program and the other by independent certifying agents. Both require strict organic standards to be adhered to.
USDA seals and O Seals may be used to identify organic products that meet federal standards.
What is organic meat?
Organic meat is food that has not been treated with pesticides or artificial fertilizers. Organic meat is also a guarantee that the animals weren’t fed any genetically altered feed. The meat is safe to consume because it contains no harmful chemicals.
Organic meats are healthier for our environment. Organic foods reduce pollution in rivers, lakes and landfills. Organic farmers generally don't use toxic chemicals that kill birds and insects. We help to protect wildlife.
You can eat organic meats and produce whenever you can. Local buying helps to keep money in the community, rather than moving out of state. Local businesses often pass savings on to customers who shop locally. Local businesses are more likely to keep jobs here than export them abroad.
What is inorganic?
Organic food is made without pesticides or artificial fertilizers. These chemicals can cause health problems in organic foods.
Organic food can be grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides herbicides, fungicides, and other harmful substances. These chemicals may cause damage to animals as well as humans.
Inorganic food is meat, fish, eggs and dairy products, including butter, yogurts honey, yogurts, butter, cream, cheese, butter, yogurts, honey and grains.
The term organic refers to the way an agricultural product is grown. Organic farming employs natural methods and soil amendments for growing crops. Conventional agriculture uses pesticides or fertilizers.
Foods labeled as organic must meet strict guidelines by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). According to the National Organic Program Standards all organic food must be free of banned materials such as antibiotics growth hormones genetically modified organisms GMOs, and industrial solvents. Organic food must not be produced with toxic chemicals, petroleum or sewage sludges or ionizing radioactive substances.
What is an Organic Food Producer?
Organic food producers produce organic foods that are free from pesticides and other chemical fertilizers. These foods include fruits and vegetables, grains, as well as dairy products.
Organic food production happens on farms where crops have been naturally nurtured. This includes soil preparation and pest control as well as crop rotation.
For an agricultural product to be considered organic, it must meet strict criteria set out by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture).
These guidelines help consumers access healthy, safe and nutritious foods.
Organic food offers many health benefits. From lower levels of pesticide residues, heavy metal contamination, to higher nutrient contents and better flavour, organic foods are healthier.
USDA Certified Organic products must be labeled with the seal "USDA certified organic".
This certification means the product has met the standards of the National Organic Program.
Organic food can help us eat better and protect our environment.
Organic farming techniques conserve water and land. In addition, organic methods reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which cause climate change.
Organic agriculture uses less chemicals and reduces the amount of pollution runoff.
Because of this, harmful gases such as ammonia and even nitrates will not build up in the air.
There are many types and varieties of organic farming.
Conventional farming is the use of synthetic inputs like pesticides or fertilizers.
Regenerative farming involves compost, cover crops, and green manures to improve soil health. It promotes biodiversity.
Agroecology promotes healthy relationships between humans and plants.
Permaculture promotes self sufficiency through the creation of systems that imitate nature.
Is organic a guarantee that the product is pesticide-free
Organic food is naturally chemical-free and grows without pesticides. This means that organic food is not exposed to pesticides or fertilizers.
Organic produce contains more nutrients and is healthier than conventionally manufactured foods, as it does not contain any harmful additives.
Farmers must follow strict guidelines to grow organic crops under the USDA National Organic Program (NOP).
These guidelines address soil preparation, crop rotations, pest control, water conservation, harvesting, and other practices.
Organic farming techniques also contribute to healthy ecosystems that benefit wildlife as well as natural habitats.
What are the health benefits of organic foods?
While organic foods may not be suitable for everyone's health, they are healthy for some people. For those who consume them regularly, however, they can offer certain health benefits.
Organic food is free from artificial fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides as well as hormones, antibiotics and genetic engineering. Organic produce does not contain harmful chemicals that could be harmful to the human body.
Also, there are fewer additives that are used in processing. So when you buy an organic product, you're likely eating healthier than non-organic products.
Studies have shown that organic fruits and vegetables contain more nutrients than those grown conventionally.
Although organic farming methods tend to cost more than conventional farming methods, they often yield better results. Organic farming promotes soil fertility as well as biodiversity.
This helps prevent erosion and conserve water. Organic farms require less fuel and energy because they don't contain toxic chemicals.
People are worried that organic foods may be more expensive then conventional. However, prices can vary depending upon where you live. For example, organic apples are generally more expensive than conventional apples.
If you take a look at the cost of a basket containing both types of fruits, you will see that organic is less expensive.
Do you want to go organic?
It all depends on your personality. If you don't like the taste of organic food, then you probably shouldn't bother.
However, if you enjoy good-tasting food, you can buy organic food. Organic foods are safer as most commercial growers use chemical fertilisers, pesticides, or genetically modified species (GMOs) to produce their crops.
Organic agriculture is a way to preserve the environment, conserve natural resources, and encourage biodiversity.

How To
Organic foods: Are they healthier and more nutritious than conventional food?
Organic foods are grown without the use chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. They are grown in natural conditions and without the use of any artificial inputs like fungicides or herbicides. Organic farming practices include crop rotation and cover crops, the composting of animal manure, the recycling of wastewater, as well as integrated pest management (IPM).
In 2002, the USDA National Organic Program (NOP), was established to regulate the sale, purchase, labelling, production, and distribution of organic products in the United States. The NOP regulations ensure that organic agricultural products are produced according to federal standards outlined in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Organic products must also be free from banned substances, such as pesticides residues, growth hormones and irradiation.
For producers in the USA who want their products "organic", there are two kinds of certification programs: one for farmers or ranchers and one for manufacturers. Both programs require an annual audit of the operations in order to confirm compliance with stringent standards. Several certifying agents offer these services, including CCOF Certified Organic Farmers & Ranchers, Quality Assurance International, and the American Grassfed Association. The three organizations all provide verification by third parties that farms have followed strict guidelines for environmental stewardship as well as labour practices and the care of livestock.
The USDA's Economic Research Service estimates that organic agriculture was responsible for $4.7 billion of 2013 sales. That year, retail spending on certified organic products totalled nearly $1.5 billion, representing a 23 percent increase since 2009. During this time, grocery store sales increased by 12 percent. Spending directly on organic produce grew by 29 percent while that on meat, poultry, eggs and seafood only grew by 1 percent.
Although organic food can be more expensive than regular food, many consumers feel that its quality is well worth the additional cost. Consumer Reports conducted a 2015 survey and found that 88% would pay more if organic food had better nutritional value. A Health Affairs study also found that organic food consumers are less likely to develop health problems such as diabetes, cancer, obesity, heart disease, depression, and other diseases.
Although organic foods are not proven to prevent or treat certain diseases, some research suggests that they could improve overall health and reduce exposure to pesticides. According to a 2010 review of 31 studies, organically raised beef showed significantly lower levels in toxic chemicals and parasites than conventionally produced beef. A separate analysis of 11 studies published in 2012 reached similar conclusions.
According to a 2014 report by the Environmental Working Group, the incidence of foodborne disease caused by E.coli, salmonella or listeria monocytogenes, E. coli and E. coli O157H7 was lower when organic chicken, non-organic pork, beef, lamb and milk were compared. The group also observed that E.coliO157 is a less prevalent cause of illness in humans among children than adults. This was because the USDA has imposed stricter organic standards on animals raised for human consumption.
