Now love yourself and enjoy this one ...

The Kentucky Mule is a classic cocktail which combines the warmth and zest of bourbon, with the simplicity of ginger beer. It is suitable for all occasions.

Table of Contents

Three things are essential to a warm afternoon: good company, great conversation, and an exquisitely crafted Kentucky Mule. You might be wondering: "Kentucky mule, what is that?" Prepare to be blown away! This is not just a drink, but a complete experience. It's an authentic southern luxury. What's more southern than a harmonious blend of bourbon with ginger beer? !

You may be familiar with the Kentucky Mule because of its universally loved cocktail cousin, the Moscow Mule. The classic Russian cousin is usually made with vodka, ginger ale and a shot or lime. In true Southern style, we like things a little different. The vodka is replaced with a rich, smoky bourbon.

Both of these tasty cocktails must be served in copper mugs.

Ingredients

Ginger beer is important. There are both good and bad ginger beers. P&M is my favorite.

  • 1 1/2 oz Bourbon or Whiskey
  • 3 oz Ginger Beer
  • 2 tbsp freshly pressed lime juice
  • A few fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • Crushed Ice

Utensils Required

  • To serve the cocktail, you will need a copper mugor a glass.
  • Use a jigger to measure the bourbon, whiskey or lime juice
  • Use a stirring pan to gently mix the ingredients
  • Optional: strainer to strain out the pulp and seeds if there are any.

Instrucciones

Pour

Add bourbon, whiskey or lime juice to a copper glass or mug filled with crushed ice.

Combination

Pour Ginger Beer in the mug or the glass and gently mix the ingredients together.

Garnish (optional)

Enjoy! Garnish your dish with some fresh mint leaves.

Tip and Tricks

  1. Ingredients : Select high-quality bourbon, and ginger beer. Many people overlook the importance of good ginger beer.
  2. Fresh lime juice is healthier and cheaper.
  3. Use crushed Ice: instead of ice Cubes
  4. Stir, don't shake: Shaking it will cause it to go flat.
  5. Use copper mugs: Copper mugs are required for the "Mule Experience". Your drink will remain cold for longer.
  6. Enjoy the garnishing: Mint leaves are not your only option! I've also had great success with rosemary or basil.

Variations

1. Low-Carb Kentucky mule: Use sugar-free ginger beer or a low-carb ginger ale and a bourbon without added sugar.

2. To make a spicy Kentucky Mule, muddle fresh Serrano or jalapeno peppers into the bottom of a copper mug. See my delicious spicy margarita for instructions.

3. Fruity Kentucky Mule - Muddle fresh fruit such as berries, peaches, pineapples, etc. before adding your other ingredients.

4. Kentucky Mule With a Twist I've tried bourbons that are infused with maple syrup, honey, cinnamon or vanilla, and they all taste amazing.

FAQs

How much calories are there in a Kentucky Mule?

If you make a Kentucky Mule using the quantities I have specified, then it should contain between 150 and 200 calories.

What is the best way to drink a Kentucky Mule?

You can drink a Kentucky Mule through a straw, or directly from a copper cup. The copper mug is both beautiful and functional. It looks great while keeping the cocktail cool.

Must I use Bourbon to make a Kentucky Mule

Nope! Try rye whiskey or other types. Check out my suggestions in the 'Variations" section if you're looking for something different.

Does the Kentucky Mule come in a non-alcoholic form?

If you don't want to drink alcohol, you can use ginger ale and lime juice on ice instead.

Can i make a big batch of Kentucky Mule to serve at a party?

It's a given! Always make sure you have the right ratios. Add the ginger ale and garnishes into individual glasses filled with ice when you are ready to serve. You'll have guests clamoring for more!

How to make a Kentucky Mule ahead of time

Store the bourbon-lime juice mixture in the refrigerator.

Keep the ginger ale separate and unopened. The ginger beer, as a carbonated beverage, will lose its bubbles. You'll end with a flat Mule. Nobody wants that!

Pour the mixture over the ice and add the ginger ale. Stir, and then garnish.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 8 oz Bourbon or Whiskey
  • 3 oz Ginger Beer
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lime juice
  • fresh mint leaves Optional
  • crushed ice

Instructions

  • Pour crushed ice into a copper glass or mug
  • Add bourbon, whiskey or lime juice.
  • Pour Ginger Beer in the mug or the glass and gently mix the ingredients together.
  • Garnish with mint leaves if you like.

Notes

  • Don't shake the drink. Stir it. Shaking ginger beer can reduce its carbonation, and cause it to go flat.
  • Crushed ice on top of ice cubes. It is essential for a Kentucky Mule, as it helps chill the beverage and gives it a perfect texture. Wrap the ice cubes in a towel and gently smash them with a mallet or rolling pin.
  • Copper's thermal conductivity is a great way to keep your Kentucky Mule colder for longer.
  • You can make a nonalcoholic Kentucky Mule by substituting bourbon with a nonalcoholic alcohol OR you can use ginger beer, lime juice and ice to create a refreshing drink.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is eating raw basil good for you?

I'm sure everyone knows that fresh herbs are great for cooking but did you know that you could eat them too? Raw, uncooked herbs are packed full of nutrients and vitamins that we normally have to cook.

They contain more antioxidants than any fruit or vegetable. And they also help our immune systems stay strong and healthy.

The best way to enjoy these delicious little green gems is to eat them raw from the garden. But there's nothing wrong with enjoying them cooked, either. They taste even better when sautéed in olive oil and served alongside pasta or rice.

There are lots of ways to incorporate raw herbs into recipes. Add them to salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps, omelets, stir-fries, and pesto.

Just make sure you wash them well first!

Is basil good for kidneys?

The answer is yes. Basil is an excellent food for kidney health. It contains potassium which helps reduce high blood pressure. It also contains vitamin K, which is essential for bone strength. As well as this, it is rich in antioxidants which help protect against heart disease.

Basil is great for digestion too. It contains digestive enzymes that break down protein and carbohydrates. This makes it easier to absorb nutrients from your meals.

Basil is a wonderful addition to any diet. Try sprinkling some over pasta dishes, salads, soups, and sandwiches. Or add little stir-fried vegetables, chicken, fish, meat, and tofu.

It's delicious in pesto sauce and fresh in salad dressings. You'll find many recipes online where you can learn how to cook with basil.

Try making basil oil by adding a few drops of pure olive oil to a jar filled with chopped basil leaves. Let it steep overnight, and then strain out the leaves. Use the oil as a massage oil or rub it onto your skin.

It will leave your skin soft and smooth.

What herb heals all wounds?

The answer to this question varies depending on the type and severity of the wound.

The herb comfrey (also known as knitbone) has long been used for its healing properties, particularly for skin injuries such as cuts and bruises.

Studies suggest that comfrey contains allantoin, which helps speed up healing. Other herbs commonly used for healing wounds include calendula, plantain, and yarrow. These herbs help to reduce inflammation, stop bleeding and speed up the skin's healing process.

In addition to herbs, honey has also been found to have powerful antimicrobial properties that can help prevent wound infection.

Herbs for wound care is an age-old practice that continues to be used today. However, herbs should not replace medical treatment, and always consult your doctor before using herbs for healing. With the right herbs, you can give your body the support it needs to heal naturally.

Is it okay to use dried herbs instead of fresh ones?

It is best to pick up fresh herbs whenever possible when using herbs.

Although dried herbs are convenient, they don’t provide the same benefits as fresh herbs.

Fresh herbs contain essential oils that give your food a unique flavor. These oils help preserve the nutrients within the herb.

Dried herbs lose all their flavor after drying, so they cannot replace fresh herbs.

You should only use dried herbs if you absolutely must. Otherwise, you should get your fresh herbs from the market.

Should You Use Herbs and Spices for Brain Health?

Herbs and spices have been used for centuries to improve brain health. Research shows that these natural remedies may help prevent dementia and Alzheimer's. Some herbs may even boost memory.

However, no scientific evidence proves that eating an herb-rich diet can keep your mind sharp. When it comes to improving cognitive function, there are more effective ways to do it.

One study found that older adults who took 1000 mg of vitamin B6 daily had fewer mental lapses than those taking placebo pills. Another study showed that drinking coffee could increase blood flow to the brain. Other studies suggest that exercise, socialization, and sleep improve brain health.

The bottom line is that herbs and spices probably won't make much difference to your overall health. But they might give you extra energy and focus, which can come in handy during the day.

What are the disadvantages of using herbs?

Herbs are a great way to keep your body healthy because they contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, amino acids, phytonutrients, polyphenols, flavonoids, terpenes, essential oils, carotenoids, sterols, and sterolins. Some even contain cannabinoids.

But there are also lots of side effects associated with herbal remedies. For example, taking too much herb could cause liver damage or even death. Herbal supplements may interact with prescription drugs, which means that they might affect how well the drug works.

Some herbs can interfere with blood clotting, while others may increase bleeding when taken with anticoagulants (blood thinners).

There are also safety concerns for pregnant women and children.

The bottom line is that herbs aren't safe for everyone. If you're considering trying them out, do your homework. Look up each product's side effects and warnings and read reviews online.

Statistics

  • The global herbs market is expected to reach more than $125 billion by the end of 2025.
  • Studies have shown that cinnamon can lower fasting blood sugars by 10-29% in diabetic patients, which is a significant amount (9Trusted Source10Trusted (healthline.com)

How To

How do I know if my herbs have been treated with pesticides?

If you see a pesticide label on your herbs, the plants were sprayed with chemicals before being sold to you.

These chemicals harm human health and could cause cancer or other serious illnesses.

Unfortunately, this practice has become common around the globe. Many countries allow farmers to spray their crops with pesticides without proper regulation.

In order not to harm themselves, consumers should always ask about the source of their produce. If it comes from a farmer near you, it’s safe to assume it was not treated with pesticides.

However, there are still ways to ensure that your herbs are free from harmful chemicals.

However, if you want to ensure that your herbs aren’t contaminated, you can purchase organic herbs directly from the farm.

This way, you won’t need to worry about the safety of your herbs. You can trust that they weren’t exposed to harmful chemicals.
