Why We Love Soft Boiled eggs
My new obsession is soft-boiled eggs. The yolks are silky and creamy but the whites remain firm. It's like a mixture of butter and melted cheddar. These are divine. They're not only for breakfast! Soft-boiled eggs are great with toast or as an ingredient in bowl meals. They can also be used as a topping for soups, salads, and ramen (hello! I like to eat soft-boiled eggs as a snack, or with toast. They are also great on salads and soups (hello, ramen!). No matter the time of day, I add soft-boiled egg to almost everything I eat. Are you ready to learn how simple it is?
How long does it take to soft boil an egg?
Short answer: It takes 6 minutes to soft-boil an egg that has a fully-set yolk and white, or 3 minutes if the whites are softer. The longer answer is that the time required depends on both the size of the egg and how it was boiled.
The recipe is for large eggs still chilled from the fridge. Large eggs in the U.S. weigh between 56 and 62 grams. This method can be used for any size egg, but you may need to adjust it depending on its size. The type of cookware you use, your starting temperature, and high altitude are all factors that can affect the cooking times. Start with 6 minutes for large eggs, and then adjust the time to get the perfect soft-boiled yolk.

- 3-5 minutes: yolk liquid with soft, the whites are not completely set
- Six minutes liquid yolk and fully set whites
- 7 Minutes: Jammy yolk with outer edge set
- Half set yolk in 8 minutes
- Half set yolk in 9 minutes
- Set mostly in 10 minutes
If you use the steaming method I find that 12 minutes is perfect for a perfectly set yolk in a hard-boiled egg. Check out my hard boiled egg tutorial if you'd rather use a water bath than the steaming method.
How to boil eggs fast
Steam and boiling water are a great combination to save time when it comes to boiling eggs. You only need an inch of water to create steam. This is much faster than boiling a pot full of water. Steam is trapped under the lid and surrounds the eggs, cooking them as quickly and as evenly as with a pot of boiling water. You can cook a soft-boiled eggs in six minutes using the quick steaming technique. This is about as long as it takes you to make coffee or toast some bread.

How long do soft boiled eggs last?
In the fridge, soft boiled eggs can be stored for up to two days. Reheating soft boiled egg in the refrigerator is as simple as repeating the cooing procedure with half the time. Bring a small saucepan to a rolling boil, add the eggs, and steam for three minutes instead of six.

Cover a sauce pan with 1 inch of water, bring it to a rolling boil, and then remove the cover.

Add an egg straight from the fridge into the pot once it has started to boil. Replace the lid, and continue boiling for six minutes.

After six minutes remove the eggs from the pot. Place them in a bath of ice or cool water to cool until they can be handled. Peel and enjoy!

Step by step instructions on how to make perfect soft-boiled eggs
Add 1 inch of water to the sauce pot. You only need ONE INCHE of water. Use the smallest container you can find to hold the eggs you are making. This will ensure that they're all in one layer. This technique is suitable for a number of eggs, even if you only cook one or two at a given time. Put a lid over the pot and bring water to a rolling brew on high heat. After the water has boiled, place the large eggs into the pot. This is easier to do with tongs or a slotted teaspoon.
Set the timer to six minutes after adding the eggs. The lid traps steam which evenly heats the eggs.
Use tongs to move the eggs into an ice bath after six minutes. Let the eggs cool down until they are no longer hot enough to handle. You can also let them rest in an ice bath for a few minutes until you're ready. You should not let the eggs sit at room temperatures after steaming. Otherwise, they will continue cooking with their residual heat and the yolks may continue to solidify.
Gently peel the shell off the egg by tapping it on a surface that is hard. Be gentle, as the yolk is still fluid and the egg may be soft and wobbly. Start peeling at the fat end. This is where there's usually an air bubble that separates the whites from the shell. It makes it easy to separate them. Rinse the shell off with a little water to remove any fragments.
Now it's that magical moment... OMG, the liquid perfection of a runny yolk! *squeal* Here's a closer look at the amazing results... the whites are solid and the yolks are ALL liquid. What a perfect result! It's like I just won the lottery.

5 Reasons to Buy Organic Products
Organic foods are free from pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. They contain no genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or irradiated ingredients. They do not use industrial solvents or sewage effluent in their production. The food's natural environment is protected from contamination during its growth cycle.
