Ranch Oyster Crackers - a high-protein, vegan snack that is healthy and will satisfy your appetite without affecting your diet or your appetite.

Table of Contents

Okay, I admit it. I thought that oyster crackers were somehow made with oysters. I'm not sure how or why, but that is what you get.

Phew. I feel lighter now.

It turns out that they are called oyster crackers, because they were once used to add crunch to oyster stew, a popular dish from the 19th century in the northeastern United States. Although the association between the oyster stew and the crackers is gone, the name has stuck. The more I know, the better.

These crackers are a healthy snack that is easy to prepare and packed with protein. Most snacks are only meant to satisfy the gap between meals.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • This recipe is vegan. This recipe can be made gluten-free by using gluten-free biscuits.
  • The nutritional yeast contains all nine amino acids, the same as animal protein. Ten grams of protein in each serving!
  • This recipe can be made in an air fryer or without baking (320degF, 5 minutes).

What are the health benefits of these Ranch Oyster Crackers?

  • This recipe uses a dairy-free, healthy source of flavor instead of the highly processed packets that are commonly found in ranch seasoning.
  • Avocado oil is used, which is rich in vitamin E and omega-9 fatty acid.
  • Vitamin B12 is found in nutritional yeast, which promotes a healthy nervous and red blood cell production.
Beta-glucan, a type of fiber, can also help lower cholesterol.
  • This food is rich in antioxidants and low on the glycemic scale.

Ingredients

This shopping list is mainly powders and seasonings. It can be completed at one store.

  • 5 cups of oyster crackers
  • 1/3 cup avocado oil
  • 2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp dried Dill
  • 2 tsp of onion powder
  • 2 tsp of garlic powder
  • Half a teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tbsp of nutritional yeast

Instrucciones

Prep

Pre-heat oven to 250degF. Place the oyster crackers into a bowl or resealable plastic bag.

Add

Add the spices, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper. Gently coat with avocado oil.

Place the potatoes on a baking sheet in one layer. Bake for 20 minutes. Flip them halfway through. Remove from the oven and let cool down before serving.

DEVOUR!

Variations

  • You could save time by using a ranch seasoning package that you can buy in local shops instead of the custom spice mix. However, I believe the homemade version is worth it because of how unhealthy these packages are.
  • Make a gluten-free and vegan snack with gluten-free crackers!
  • Seasonings and toppings are endless. There are many options when it comes to seasonings and toppings.

FAQs

Can I use something else instead of nutritional yeast?

This recipe can be made without the nutritional yeast or you can reduce it to half a tablespoon to test it on your first batch.

What did I do wrong if my crackers weren't crispy?

Be sure to bake them at low temperature for a sufficient amount of time. The additional time needed in the oven will depend on the size and shape of the oyster crackers. Flip them over halfway through baking.

Can I make it without baking?

You can bake this cracker without baking, but the cracker will absorb more oil. They will also not stay as crisp as they should. If you choose to bake the crackers, you can also use vegan butter or butter.

How to store Ranch Oyster Crackers

Let the crackers completely cool. Place them in a container that is airtight or a resealable plastic bag. They can be stored in a dry, cool place for 3 months. If you live in an area that is humid, it's best to store the crackers in your fridge. They will keep for up 3 months. They can be frozen for up to one year. It is important that you seal them well to avoid them drying out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which plant can heal wounds?

Plants are amazing creatures. They grow, they live, and they die. They make food, clean our air and water, and help keep us healthy. But plants also do more than that...they heal wounds.

Plants release molecules called phytochemicals when they are injured. These chemicals act as antioxidants, which protect cell membranes from damage and promote healing.

Phytochemicals found in plants include flavones (found in citrus fruits), terpenoids (present in mint leaves), and polyphenols (common in berries).

In addition to these protective compounds, plants contain proteins, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, and carbohydrates that support the body's natural processes of healing.

The best way to use plants to heal wounds is to consume them directly. However, there are ways to apply the power of plants to treat wounds without eating them.

First, soak a cotton ball in an extract from the St John's Wort herb. This product contains salicylic acid, which helps reduce inflammation.

Next, place the soaked cotton ball on the wound. Avoid applying the herb directly to open cuts, burns, or puncture wounds. If you feel any burning sensation, remove the herb immediately.

You may also find that placing a few drops of essential oil on the affected area promotes faster healing. Lavender essential oil reduces swelling and speed recovery; rosemary stimulates blood flow and increases circulation; peppermint relieves headaches and muscle aches.

If you want to try your hand at growing some of your medicinal herbs, here are some tips:

  • Start with small pots, so you don't end up with too much of one particular type of plant.
  • Grow several different types of herbs together. The same goes for flowers and vegetables. Mixing it up will ensure you get all the benefits of each plant.
  • Use organic fertilizer if you're growing your herbs indoors. Non-organic fertilizers may be harmful to your health.
  • Harvest regularly. You'll enjoy the freshness of homegrown herbs, but leave enough time between harvests to allow the soil to replenish itself.
  • Be careful not to overwater your plants. Overly wet soil encourages mold growth, which isn't suitable for your herbs.
  • Wash your hands after handling your herbs. You don't want to risk spreading bacteria onto your plants!

What are the disadvantages of using herbs?

Herbs are a great way to keep your body healthy because they contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, amino acids, phytonutrients, polyphenols, flavonoids, terpenes, essential oils, carotenoids, sterols, and sterolins. Some even contain cannabinoids.

But there are also lots of side effects associated with herbal remedies. For example, taking too much herb could cause liver damage or even death. Herbal supplements may interact with prescription drugs, which means that they might affect how well the drug works.

Some herbs can interfere with blood clotting, while others may increase bleeding when taken with anticoagulants (blood thinners).

There are also safety concerns for pregnant women and children.

The bottom line is that herbs aren't safe for everyone. If you're considering trying them out, do your homework. Look up each product's side effects and warnings and read reviews online.

Should You Use Herbs and Spices for Brain Health?

Herbs and spices have been used for centuries to improve brain health. Research shows that these natural remedies may help prevent dementia and Alzheimer's. Some herbs may even boost memory.

However, no scientific evidence proves that eating an herb-rich diet can keep your mind sharp. When it comes to improving cognitive function, there are more effective ways to do it.

One study found that older adults who took 1000 mg of vitamin B6 daily had fewer mental lapses than those taking placebo pills. Another study showed that drinking coffee could increase blood flow to the brain. Other studies suggest that exercise, socialization, and sleep improve brain health.

The bottom line is that herbs and spices probably won't make much difference to your overall health. But they might give you extra energy and focus, which can come in handy during the day.

How is basil used for medicinal purposes?

In ancient times, doctors would prescribe basil leaves to treat colds and coughs. Today, basil contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties, making it an ideal remedy for arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, eczema, gout, hay fever, indigestion, migraines, menstrual cramps, sinus infections, sore throats, ulcers, varicose veins, and more.

Basil is also known for its ability to help protect against cancer, heart disease, diabetes, skin conditions, and even aging.

Basil is often referred to as "the herb of grace" because it helps us relax and unwind after stressful situations. It is also said to improve memory and concentration, boost energy levels, increase libido, and enhance athletic performance.

The list goes on and on. Basil is a versatile plant that offers a wide range of benefits for our health and well-being.

Which plant has antibiotic and wound-healing properties?

People often ask about plants that have medicinal uses. Some of these include aloe vera, eucalyptus, chamomile, and lavender. If you're wondering why there aren't any plants used for cleaning and disinfecting purposes, it's because most plants have toxic qualities.

The reason why we use herbs for medicine is that they contain compounds that stimulate our immune system. This means that they help us fight infections and heal wounds.

Some plants also have anti-inflammatory properties. These include ginger, turmeric, and mint.

Herbs such as basil, fennel, marigold, and oregano are great for cleansing the body.

There are even some plants that help prevent cancer. Research shows that black raspberries may reduce the chances of developing breast cancer. The same goes for broccoli. It can help prevent colon cancer.

What herb is best for healing?

Herbs are a fantastic way to help heal our bodies. Herbal medicine has been used since ancient times and continues to grow today. There are thousands of herbs known to cure various ailments.

Some herbs are excellent for treating colds and flu, while others can treat anxiety, depression, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and more.

There are also herbal remedies for skin care, hair loss, weight loss, sexual health, energy, sleep, digestion, and much more.

The list goes on and on. But one herb stands above them all regarding its ability to heal. That herb is called aloe vera.

Aloe Vera is considered to be the world's most powerful healer. For centuries it has helped people heal themselves naturally without any side effects.

It's incredible how well aloe vera works. It's even better than prescription drugs and surgery.

In addition to its natural healing properties, aloe vera is highly versatile and can be used in almost any area of life, including food, beauty products, and household cleaning supplies.

You may not realize this, but aloe vera contains hundreds of active compounds, which include vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, sulfur, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, chloride, fluoride, iodine, selenium and more.

These nutrients are essential for human body functions such as cell growth, metabolism, immune system support, healthy bones and teeth, healthy blood pressure levels, healthy eyesight, healthy cardiovascular systems, healthy digestive systems, healthy lungs, healthy nervous system, healthy reproductive organs, healthy skin, and healthy libido.

What is the difference between "regular" and smoked paprika powder?

Regular Paprika Powder (Piment d'Espelette) is an essential ingredient for our recipes. We use it for its intense flavor and color. It's also used as a spice and seasoning agent. Smoked Paprika Powder (Paprika Chorizo) adds a smoky taste and aroma to dishes. Both types of Paprika Powder come from Spain, where they grow the best peppers in the world.

Smoked Paprika Powder (Chorizo Paprika) is made from red peppers, which are dried slowly in special ovens. This gives them a rich flavor. They are then ground and mixed with salt, garlic, and spices.

Regular Paprika Powder (Espelette Paprika) is made by grinding green bell peppers without additives.

Statistics

  • Herbs are among the most popular and widely used medicinal remedies. According to a survey conducted by the National Institutes of Health, herbs were used by over 38% of adults in the United States.
  • The herbs market is highly competitive, with over 1,000 herb suppliers and over 15,000 herbs products available in the United States alone.

How to use herbs safely?

Many people think that herbs should only be used under medical supervision because they believe that some herbs are poisonous. However, this is not true.

Many herbs have long histories of safe use. For example, garlic has been used for thousands of years to fight infections. It's also been shown to lower cholesterol levels and reduce high blood pressure.

However, if you're pregnant or nursing, avoid taking certain herbs. You should also avoid them if you suffer from allergies or sensitivities to herbs.

You can do several things to ensure you get the best results from your herbs and supplements. First, always read labels before consuming anything containing herbs or spices. Second, take the lowest dose recommended on the label. Third, don't use more than one supplement at any given time. Fourth, talk to your doctor about how to combine specific herbs and supplements. Finally, keep track of your consumption to know whether you need to adjust your dosage.
