This Asian-inspired dish features crispy snow peas that are tossed in a garlic and ginger mix. Then, they're dusted with chili flakes and toasted sesame seed. This is a great side dish, or healthy snack before dinner.
Table of Contents
I am a certified foodie, and as a cocktail lover, I enjoy experimenting with flavors and seeing which drinks and appetizers go well together. It was through this experimental research that I discovered the Sauteed Snow Peas Recipe.
Today I am serving crunchy snow peas that are fresh off the vine with red chili flakes and sesame seeds, as well as a touch of soy sauce. To accompany them, I will be making either Sazerac Cocktails or Spicy Margaritas. (Both the margaritas and snow peas add the salt and spice). You can mix and match to your heart's desire.
Have you ever tried my Coconut Curry Soup or my Asian Chicken with Pak Choi? They have similar flavors, and they work well with Snow Peas. Let's get cooking in the kitchen!
Snow peas are healthy?
You're right! Snow peas contain a lot of fiber, vitamins and protein. The garlic, ginger, and chili flakes I used to flavor the peas are a natural way to add flavor without adding too much oil.
Ingredients
Garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, and chili flakes are not necessary ingredients. You can leave them out if you wish.
- Snow peas 2 cups
- 1 tbsp of vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame seed oil
- 1 clove of minced
- 1/2 tsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- Red chili flakes
- White sesame seeds toasted
Instrucciones
Prep
Remove the side strings and trim the snow peas. In a large saucepan, heat the sesame and vegetable oils.
Cook
Add the snow peas and cook for another 2 minutes. Soy sauce can be used to season.
Add some toasted sesame seeds and red chili flakes to the snow peas and serve them on plates.
DEVOUR!
Serving Suggestions
These savory snowpeas are great as a side dish to grilled shrimp or chicken, or just enjoy them with a chilled glass of white wine. These snow peas can be served as an appetizer or side dish (and perhaps as a topping for ice cream if the peas are added to it? I don't judge your taste buds.)
Tips and Tricks
- Snow Peas Prep The most important tip I can give you is to remove the string from the side of the snow peas. The texture of the peas is improved.
- Garlic & Ginger: I recommend that you chop the ginger and garlic as finely as possible. Even small pieces can be very flavorful.
- Watch the Heat: Snow peas should be cooked, but not burnt. So don't turn the heat up to high.
- Use Soy Sauce Wisely: Don't add the soy sauce before you are almost finished sautéing the peas. Your peas may turn dark and salty if you add the soy sauce too soon.
- Mix it up with the toppings: The texture of the sesame seeds and chili flakes is amazing!
FAQs
Absolutely! Slice them up and throw them into any salad. These are crunchy and crispy, and they add an interesting texture to your salad.
You can steam them or blanch with garlic, but stir-frying has always been a favorite.
Yep! You can stir fry snap peas, sugar snap peas and other peas.
Peas should be smooth, green and round. Pass on peas that are yellow, wrinkled, or bruised. Crisp ones snap with a satisfying snap.
You can also use avocado oil, olive oil or coconut oil. Go crazy!
Sugar snap peas look and taste similar, but are not interchangeable. Sugar snap peas tend to be larger and sweeter, with flatter pods. Snow peas also have flatter pods. In some recipes, you can substitute one for the other. However, they have different tastes and require different cooking times.
Snow Peas: How to store them
This dish can be prepared a day ahead, but the fresher the better. You can store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. If they seem a bit dry, add some water and cook them on medium heat.
Snow Peas: How to cook them
Ingredients
- 2 cups snow peas
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 tsp fresh ginger minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- pinch of red chili flakes
- White sesame seeds toasted
Instructions
-
Snow peas can be cleaned in a variety of ways. Remove the side strings and the tips of the snow peas.
-
In a large saucepan, heat the sesame and vegetable oils. Add the snow peas and cook for 2 minutes. Soy sauce can be used to season.
-
Add some red chili flakes and white sesame seed flakes to the snow peas and serve.
Notes
- Sugar snap peas look and taste similar, but are not interchangeable. Sugar snap peas tend to be larger and sweeter, with flatter pods. Snow peas also have a more delicate appearance. In some recipes, you can swap one for the other. However, taste and cooking time will need to be adjusted.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are organic food products?
Organic produce is free from synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, sewage sludge and confinement feeding. There are no growth hormones used and animal testing is not performed. These crops can grow naturally so that farmers don't have to use pesticides or weed control.
Organic farming practices also maintain soil quality by reducing erosion and conserving water resources. Organics have more nutrients than traditional food, which makes them better for our health. Organic products are more nutritious than conventionally grown foods and have lower calories and fiber.
What's the difference?
Organic food is free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers and sewage sludge. It can also be grown without irradiation or genetic modification. Organic farming practices improve soil health and water quality as well as animal welfare.
Inorganic foods may be grown with chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or sewage sludge. Radiation is used to treat irradiated food; biological engineering techniques are used to create genetically modified organisms (GMO).
The term "natural", often used interchangeably to mean "organic," is frequently used. Natural does not necessarily have to mean organic. There are also products labelled "natural" which may contain synthetic ingredients.
Organic produce is usually more nutritious that conventional produce. This is because organic soil contains fewer toxic chemicals and pesticides. In addition, organic farmers do not use artificial fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics, or pesticides.
Which organic vegetables are best?
Organic vegetables are the highest quality and healthiest food source. They are the healthiest of all foods.
Organic produce is grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and GMO seeds. These chemicals can pose serious risks to our environment and health.
Organic produce also contains higher levels of nutrients, vitamins. minerals, antioxidants. phytonutrients. enzymes. fibre. Essential fatty acids. This makes them healthier because we absorb these nutrients better when eating organics.
Organic vegetables taste great and are safe to eat. Organic produce is safe to eat.
Organic fruits and vegetables can be found at all grocery stores. As long as they are produced according to USDA guidelines (which means they meet the standards set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture), they are labelled "organic." If you cannot find organic produce at your local grocery store, check out online retailers such as Amazon or Walmart.
What are some of the benefits of organic agriculture?
Organic farming offers farmers a method of growing food that doesn't require the use of chemicals. Farmers do not need to worry about harmful pesticides harming their crops or animals.
Organic farming also allows for more natural fertilizers. These fertilizers promote healthy plants and decrease the amount of chemicals used.
Organic farming is also sustainable. Organic farming is also environmentally friendly. Farmers often use composting to recycle nutrients back into their soil. This reduces the risk of pollution and helps conserve precious resources.
Organic farming improves crop yields while also helping the environment. Because organic farming uses less water during the growing season, this is why it is so successful.
Organic production also means that farmers get higher prices for their products. Healthier foods are demanded by consumers who are more aware of the dangers posed by pesticides and chemical fertilisers.
This drives up the demand for organic products. For these reasons, organic farming is becoming increasingly popular.
What are organic fruits?
Organic foods are grown without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones, or antibiotics. They are also richer in nutrients like vitamins C, E, K, and omega-3 fat acids. These ingredients are good for our bodies as well as the planet.
Organic foods are grown with sustainable agricultural practices that help to preserve soil quality, and increase biological diversity. They are free of toxic chemicals, irradiation and sewage effluent.
While most consumers associate organics with produce, many organic products include dairy, meat, poultry, eggs, baked goods, personal care items, pet food, and household cleaning supplies.
According to the USDA, "organic" means that crops are raised in compliance with federal standards. Farmers cannot use conventional (non-organic) methods to grow these foods. They can use approved natural pest control methods such as crop rotation, cover cropping and organic animal feed.
A farmer must also adhere to guidelines about how much fertilizer or pesticide he applies during the growing season. Also, he must rotate his fields between different crops. GMOs, artificial growthhormones, synthetic insecticides, and synthetic fertilizers cannot be used by farmers.
All the above requirements are met by vegetables and fruits that are labeled "100% Organic". But, not all farms label their produce as 100% organic. It would confuse consumers. Instead, they will say that their product is "made with organic components". "
Why is organic food so important?
For our health, organic produce is crucial. It is the best option to ensure that we eat nutritious food. It's healthier for us as well as more environmentally-friendly because it doesn’t rely on pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals.
Organic farming uses natural methods of cultivating crops that are free from harmful chemicals. This results in fewer environmental pollutants and makes organic farming safer. So when you choose organic food, you're helping to protect yourself and the planet.
Organic food has many benefits that go beyond health. We all know how toxic processed food can make you feel. Did you know that organic fruits and veggies aren't subject to chemical spray? That means that they taste fresher, look brighter and last longer too.
Organic food is so important. It's healthy for you and the planet.

How To
How to Buy Organic Meat Even on a Limited Budget
This post will share some tips and tricks to help you buy organic meat without breaking the bank.
I will give you tips on where to find cheap organic meats and how much they cost per pound. You'll learn how to get the best from what you buy.
It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes, it takes a bit of creativity to save money while eating well. Here's my list of ways to keep your food costs down while enjoying organic meat's benefits.
- Wholesale clubs - Sams Club and Costco are great places for bulk food like chicken breasts or pork chops. If you are fortunate enough to live near one, you may be able get discounts up to 50 lbs on large quantities. This will ensure that you don't waste any meat. It's also possible to freeze meat purchased in bulk so that it lasts longer.
- You can shop online for meat at great prices. Amazon has Prime Pantry, a weekly sale that offers free shipping for orders over $35. You can get discounts on ground beef, beef roasts, lamb steaks and pork loins. It is easy to browse their website and check out what is on offer at different times.
- Local farmers will usually be cheaper than big-box retailers since they don't pay large fees to stock their shelves. They know exactly what the animals ate and drank to ensure they are fully informed about what is in their bodies.
- Choose lean cuts of meat - It is usually cheaper to cook lean meat than fatty. Therefore, choose the leanest cuts. These include sirloin, tenderloin, top round, flank, and top-round steaks. These cuts are very low in fat and high in protein.
- Try new recipes. You can cut down on your grocery costs by starting to cook with ingredients you don't have before. You may be surprised by how many delicious dishes you can come up with using fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, olive oil, and spices.
- Make your leftovers creative - You can make sandwiches, soups, casseroles, and other dishes with leftover meat or poultry. Leftover meat is perfect for making quick lunches or dinners.
So, there you are! So there you have it! My list of tips for getting organic meat without breaking the bank. Do you have any other tips? Are you able to give me any tips on how to get cheap meat?
