Vegan Smoothie Bowl Ingredients

Smoothies do not have to be complex. Most of the smoothies I post on this blog are easy to make and require few ingredients. You will need the following ingredients to make this healthy smoothie.

  • Strawberries, sliced
  • Roasted peanuts, roughly chopped
  • Vegan Chocolate, roughly sliced
  • Sprinkles

How to freeze bananas and use them in smoothies

It's easy to freeze bananas for smoothies. They will make them creamy, cool, and sweet. If your bananas are ripe, you can freeze them in just a few easy steps.

  1. Peel and slice the bananas to coins. I like to make my coins around 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Spread the banana slices on a large baking tray so that they do not overlap. It is important to do this so they don't all freeze in one big clump.
  3. The banana coins should be frozen for several hours, or even overnight. The bananas can be stored in a freezer bag with a ziplock until you are ready to use them. EASY PEASY

How to Make a Vegan Smoothie Bowl

Younger generations are choosing organic food more often than older generations. Millennials are twice likely to choose organic food than the baby boomers. 25 percent of organic food purchases are made by young adults younger than 35.

Organic foods: Are they healthier and more nutritious than conventional food?

Organic foods are produced without the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They are grown under natural conditions, without artificial inputs like pesticides, herbicides hormones, antibiotics, genetic engineering, and fungicides. Cover crops, crop rotation, crop rotation, composting animal manure as well as recycling wastewater are all organic farming practices.

In 2002, the USDA National Organic Program (NOP), was established to regulate the sale, purchase, labelling, production, and distribution of organic products in the United States. NOP regulations ensure organic agricultural products conform to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Furthermore, the NOP rules require organic products to be free of banned substances such as pesticides residues and growth hormones.

Two types of certification programs are available in the United States for producers who wish to have their products labeled organic. One is for farmers and ranchers; one is for manufacturers. Both programs require audits of operations each year to ensure that they are meeting strict standards. These services are offered by several certifying agencies, including CCOF Certified Organic Farmers & Ranchers and Quality Assurance International. The three organizations all provide verification by third parties that farms have followed strict guidelines for environmental stewardship as well as labour practices and the care of livestock.

According to USDA's Economic Research Service (ERS), organic agriculture accounted in 2013 for $4.7 Billion in sales. It was a 23 percent rise in retail spending for certified organic products since 2009. Groceries sales increased by 12 per cent during this time. Spending on direct purchases of organic produce increased by 29 percent, while spending on meat, poultry, eggs, dairy, and seafood grew by only 1 percent.

Although organic food can be more expensive than regular food, many consumers feel that its quality is well worth the additional cost. According to a 2015 survey conducted by Consumer Reports, 88 percent of respondents said they would pay more for organic food if it meant higher nutritional value. Health Affairs also reported that organic food intake is associated with fewer health problems, such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

Even though there is no evidence organic foods cause or treat diseases, some studies show that they can improve overall health by reducing pesticide and other contaminants exposure. One example is the conclusion reached by a review of 31 studies, published in 2010, that organically reared beef was significantly less toxic than conventionally-raised beef. A separate analysis of 11 studies published in 2012 reached similar conclusions.

The Environmental Working Group's 2014 report examined data from the Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Resource Center. It found that foodborne illnesses caused by E.coli, salmonella and listeria monocytogenes and verotoxin producing E.coli O157:H7 declined when organic and non-organic chickens, meat, lamb, dairy, and cheese were compared. The report also pointed out that E.coli 157 caused human illness declined in both children and adults following 2006 when USDA established stricter organic standards.
