What are organic fruits and vegetables?

Organic food does not contain pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. They also contain more nutrients, such as vitamins A, C, E, and K, plus omega-3 fatty acids. Organic food is healthier for the environment and our bodies.

Organic foods are produced using sustainable agricultural practices that protect soil quality and promote biological diversity. They are free of toxic chemicals, irradiation and sewage effluent.

While most consumers associate organics with produce, many organic products include dairy, meat, poultry, eggs, baked goods, personal care items, pet food, and household cleaning supplies.

The USDA defines "organic" as that crops being raised according to strict rules set forth by federal government standards. These foods cannot be grown by farmers using conventional methods. However, they may use approved natural pest control methods, such as crop rotation and cover cropping, and animal feed made from organic materials.

A farmer must also adhere to guidelines about how much fertilizer or pesticide he applies during the growing season. Also, he must rotate his fields between different crops. Farmers cannot use genetically modified organisms (GMOs), artificial growth hormones, synthetic insecticides, or synthetic fertilizers.

Fruits and vegetables labelled "100% organic" meet all the requirements above. Some farms don't label their products 100% organic, as it could confuse consumers. Instead, they will call their product "made using organic ingredients." "


What are organic products that can be used on the skin?

Organic skincare products are free from synthetic chemicals, such as parabens and phthalates, petroleum jelly, mineral oil, petroleum jelly, propylene glycol, sodium laurylsulphate. Talc, triclosan. titanium dioxide. triethanolamine. Vitamin A palmitate.

Organic skincare products are also free of artificial colours, fragrances, preservatives, emulsifiers, GMOs, petrochemicals, animal testing (except cosmetics tested on animals), pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, heavy metals, and other contaminants.

They also help to preserve healthy skin and prevent premature aging.

Some standard terms you may see when shopping for organic products:

  • Paraben Free - these are a group of chemicals used to keep certain cosmetic products stable, but they can be toxic if consumed in large quantities.
  • Fragrance Free - The product is not scented with essential oils.
  • Cruelty Free - No animals were injured during the manufacturing process.
  • Natural Ingredients: The ingredient is naturally derived form the animal or plant.
  • Vegan/Vegetarian - the ingredients are either vegan or vegetarian.
  • Gluten-Free is a label that indicates that no gluten was added to the product.
  • Non-Toxic – The product is free of toxins, carcinogens and other dangerous compounds that can harm your health.
  • Biodegradable means that the product can be thrown away as it will become harmless components.
  • Pesticide-Free – No pesticides were used in the growing or harvesting of crops.
  • GMO-Free refers to the fact that no ingredients in the product contain genetically modified organisms.
  • Certified Organic means that all the ingredients have been grown using methods that protect the soil and water as well as wildlife and farmers.


Organic foods are better for us.

According to the Environmental Working Group's latest report on pesticide residues in foods, organic fruits and vegetables had nearly half the level of pesticides compared with non-organic versions. Organic apples had eight times less pesticides than nonorganic apples. However, organic strawberries had four times the amount of pesticides as their conventional counterparts.

Another study suggests that organic food can reduce exposure to toxic metals such as lead and mercury. A study concluded that children who ate organic meat had 33% lower levels of blood lead than those who didn’t. Another study concluded that pregnant mothers should avoid eating conventional fish because of the high levels mercury.

Organic food seems to be safer than the non-organic. Experts recommend that fresh produce and vegetables be used whenever possible to reduce your chances of developing cancer.


What are my top priorities when buying organic products

USDA-certified organic labels are desirable. This certifies that the product has met certain standards set by USDA. On all packages, boxes and cartons, look for the USDA Organic seal.

When shopping for meat, ensure it comes from cows fed 100% organic feed. Cattle are ruminants which means that they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle have four stomach areas: rumen (reticulum), omasum (omasum), and abomasum. If a cow is to be labeled organically, all parts must be organically fed.

Make sure you only buy chicken from chicken farms that are fed organically and have never been given antibiotics. Chickens can eat both animal and plant food. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.

You should ensure you only buy dairy products made from milk that has been produced by cows who have been fed 100% organically grown food. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. Milk comes from the fourth stomach compartment--the udder.

You should always check the label before purchasing any other livestock. This will let you know what percentage of the diet was given to the animals. Pork may be labeled "95% Organic" which means that 95 percent of its feed was organic.

What happens when you switch from conventional products to organic?

Organic products are produced without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They are free-range and come from clean water sources. They are organic because they don't contain any additives or chemicals. This product was produced by nature and therefore contains no harmful substances.

The term "natural" refers to how food is grown. It is usually used to describe foods that haven't been processed into their final form (e.g., fruits). Natural foods are often fresher because they're not subject to heat radiation, chemical preservatives or any other treatment. But, not everyone believes that natural foods are healthy. Many experts say there isn't much difference between conventional and organic foods. Both types of food have been tested for safety and quality. But organic produce has fewer pollutants and pesticide residues than conventionally grown produce.

Most grocery stores now carry organic meats and poultry. You can find organic meat, poultry, eggs, and seafood at your local market. Some companies sell only organic products. Other companies have separate sections. USDA Certified Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified are some of the options.

These items should be avoided if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Unborn babies and infants can be exposed to pesticides.
