Frequently Asked Questions
What are organic food products?
Organic produce can be grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. No growth hormones are used. Animal testing is also not done. These crops can naturally grow, so no chemicals are used by farmers to combat pests or weeds.
Organic farming methods also help to preserve soil quality, reduce erosion, and conserve water resources. Organics are also better for your health as they contain more nutrients that conventional food. Organic products are more nutritious than conventionally grown foods and have lower calories and fiber.
Are organic foods better for us?
According to the Environmental Working Group’s latest report on pesticide residues, organic fruits/vegetables had nearly half as many pesticides than non-organic. They discovered that organic apples contained eight more pesticides per gram than non-organic ones, while organic strawberries contained four times as many pesticides.
Research has also suggested that organic food may reduce mercury and lead exposure. One study revealed that children who ate organic meat had 33 per cent lower blood lead levels than their counterparts who didn't eat organic meats. A second study found that conventional fish should be avoided by pregnant women due to the high levels of mercury.
Organic food is generally safer than non-organic. Experts recommend fresh vegetables and fruits whenever possible in order to reduce the risk of getting cancer.
What are the things to look for when purchasing organic products?
USDA-certified organic label are desirable. This seal signifies that the product meets specific USDA standards. You will find the USDA Organic seal on all boxes, cartons and cans.
When buying meat, make sure it is from organically fed cows. Ruminants are cattle that chew their cud. Ruminant cattle can be found with four stomach compartments: the rumen, the reticulum, omasum, abomasum and omasum. If a cow is to be labeled organically, all parts must be organically fed.
You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Chickens are omnivores. This means they can eat both plant and animal food. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.
When buying dairy products, ensure they come from cows fed 100% organically grown feed. Like ruminants and dairy cows, they have four stomach compartments. The fourth stomach compartment is the udder.
If you are buying other types of livestock, make sure to check the label to determine the percentage of their diet. One example is pork that may be labeled '95% Organic'. This means that 95 percent came from organic sources.
Why should I go organic?
Many health issues have been linked to conventional agriculture, including obesity, diabetes and cancer. When buying food, you must make wise choices.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG), offers these tips to help you choose "cleaner" foods:
When possible, buy organic fruits and veggies
Look for USDA organic labels on meat, poultry, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, and honey.
Avoid processed foods marked "natural" or with "no additives."
Check ingredient lists carefully. If an ingredient isn’t listed, it might be added during processing.
Fresh meats are better than canned or frozen. Canned and frozen foods can often have lower nutritional content like high fructose syrup.
Why is organic food so important?
Organic produce is vital for our health. It is the best way for us to eat healthy food. It is healthier for us than any pesticides or fertilizers and it is also more eco-friendly.
Organic farming uses natural methods for growing crops without using harmful chemicals. Organic farming is safer for animals and humans because it produces fewer pollutants. You are helping the planet and yourself by choosing organic food.
However, organic food is good for our health. We are all well aware of how harmful processed food can make our bodies feel. However, organic fruits & vegetables aren’t treated with chemical sprays. They taste fresher, look better and last longer.
Because of this, organic foods are so important. Because it's not only healthy for you, it's healthier for the world.

How to buy organic meat even on a tight budget
In this article, I will share my tips and tricks for buying organic meat without having to break the bank.
Here are some tips to help you find low-cost organic meats. Also, how much per pound they cost. Learn how to get maximum value from the products you buy.
Healthy eating doesn't require you to spend a lot. Sometimes it takes creativity to save money and eat well. Here are some ways you can cut down on food expenses while still getting the best from organic meat.
- Buy at wholesale clubs - Costco and Sams Club are great places to shop for bulk foods like chicken breasts and pork chops. If you're lucky enough to live near one of these stores, you can often get deals on large quantities of meat (up to 50 pounds). This way, you won't waste any meat. If you buy it in bulk you can freeze it so it lasts more.
- You can shop online for meat at great prices. Amazon, for example, offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal that includes free shipping on orders greater than $35 There are also discounts on lamb steaks (lamb steaks), ground beef, pork loins, and beef roasts. It is easy to browse their website and check out what is on offer at different times.
- Local farmers will usually be cheaper than big-box retailers since they don't pay large fees to stock their shelves. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
- Choose lean cuts of meat - It is usually cheaper to cook lean meat than fatty. Look for the tiniest cuts. The most commonly used cuts include flank steak, tenderloin and top round steaks. These cuts have high protein and low fat.
- Try new recipes - Don't be afraid to try new things! One of the easiest ways to reduce your grocery bill is to start cooking meals with ingredients you haven't used before. You'll be surprised at how many delicious dishes can you create using fresh tomatoes.
- Be creative with leftovers - If you have leftover cooked meat or poultry, use them for sandwiches, salads, soups, casseroles, etc. Remaining meat can be used for quick lunches or dinners.
Here you have it! This is my list of tips to help you afford organic meat, even if your budget is tight. Do you have any other tips? Do you have any suggestions for me on where to find cheap meat?
