Organic meats are also healthier for the environment. Organic foods reduce pollution in rivers, lakes and landfills. Organic farmers are less likely to use toxic chemicals to kill birds or insects. This helps protect wildlife.

The best way to ensure that you eat healthy organic meats is to buy them locally whenever possible. Local shopping helps keep more money in your community than it does out of state. Local businesses often offer discounts to their customers by shopping locally. Shopping locally helps to keep American workers employed, as opposed to sending them overseas.

What are organic foods?

Organic produce can be grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. No growth hormones are used, and there is no animal testing. These crops can be grown naturally by farmers, and they don't need to be treated with chemicals to control pests or weeds.

Organic farming practices can also preserve soil quality by reducing erosion, and conserving water resources. Organic foods are healthier than conventional foods because they have more nutrients. Organic products tend to be higher in fiber and lower fat than conventionally produced foods.

Why is organic foods important?

Organic produce is vital for our health. It's the best method to ensure you eat healthy foods. It's better for us and more sustainable because it doesn’t depend on pesticides or fertilizers.

Organic farming is a natural method of growing crops that uses no harmful chemicals. This results in fewer environmental pollutants and makes organic farming safer. When you choose organic food, both you and the earth are protected.

But organic food offers more than just health benefits. We all know how toxic processed food can make you feel. You might not know this, but organic fruits and vegetables don't have to be treated with chemicals. That means that they taste fresher, look brighter and last longer too.

This is why organic food is so important. Organic food is not only healthier for you but also for the whole world.

Why should I go organic?

There have been many health problems linked to conventional farming, including allergies, asthma, diabetes, obesity, cancer, birth defects and hormone imbalances. You must make healthy choices when buying food.

The Environmental Working Group offers these tips:

When possible, buy organic fruits and veggies

USDA organic labels should be used on meat, poultry and eggs as well as milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, honey, and other dairy products.

Avoid processed foods that claim to be "natural" and "no additives."

Carefully review ingredient lists. It is possible to add an ingredient during processing if it isn't already listed.

Fresh meats are better than canned or frozen. Cans and frozen foods are often less nutritious than fresh meats, such as high fructose corn syrup.

What are some organic skin products?

Organic skincare products don't contain any synthetic chemicals such as parabens or phthalates.

Organic skincare products can be free of artificial colours and fragrances as well as preservatives, emulsifiers GMOs, Petrochemicals, animal testing (except for cosmetics tested on animals), pesticides hormones, antibiotics, heavy metallics and other contaminants.

They are designed to promote healthy skin, prevent premature wrinkles, heal injuries after they happen, and support overall wellbeing.

What are some things I should look out for when purchasing organic goods?

USDA-certified organic labels are desirable. This seal signifies that the product meets specific USDA standards. Look for the "USDA Organic" seal on packages, boxes, cartons, cans, and jars.

When shopping for meat, ensure it comes from cows fed 100% organic feed. Cattle are ruminants which means that they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle are divided into four stomach compartments, the rumen and reticulum as well as the omasum and abmasum. Organic feeding must be done on all organs of the animal in order to get the cow labelled organic 100 percent.

You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Omnivore chickens eat both animals and plants. The digestive tract of an omnivorous chicken is composed of a crop and proventriculus, gizzard as well as small intestine, large intestinale, and anus.

Buy dairy products that are 100% organically produced. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. The fourth stomach, or the udder is where you get milk.

You should always check the label before purchasing any other livestock. This will let you know what percentage of the diet was given to the animals. One example is pork that may be labeled '95% Organic'. This means that 95 percent came from organic sources.
