Frequently Asked Questions

What are the things to look for when purchasing organic products?

USDA-certified organic labels should be sought. This certification means that the product is certified organic by USDA. Look out for the USDA Organic seal on boxes, cartons cans and jars.

When shopping for meat, ensure it comes from cows fed 100% organic feed. Cattle are ruminants, which means they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle have four stomach compartments: rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum. To be labeled '100% organic, all animal parts must be organically nourished.

You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Chickens are omnivores. This means they can eat both plant and animal food. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.

Buy dairy products that are 100% organically produced. Just like ruminants have four stomachs, dairy cows have four. The fourth stomach compartment is the udder.

When purchasing other types of livestock, check the label to see what percentage of the diet the animals were fed. Pork may be labeled "95% Organic" which means that 95 percent of its feed was organic.

Why should you buy organic?

Many health issues have been linked to conventional agriculture, including obesity, diabetes and cancer. It is important to make informed choices about food purchases.

The Environmental Working Group (EWG), offers these tips to help you choose "cleaner" foods:

Always purchase organic fruits, vegetables and other products whenever possible.

USDA organic labels are required for meat, poultry, eggs and milk.

Avoid processed foods labeled as "natural" or "no additives."

Always read the ingredient lists. If an ingredient isn't listed, it may be added during processing.

You should choose fresh meats rather than frozen or canned. Foods that are frozen or canned often have less nutritionally-rich ingredients, such as high fructosecorn syrup.

What are some organic skin products?

Organic skincare products don't contain any synthetic chemicals such as parabens or phthalates.

Organic skincare products can be free of artificial colours and fragrances as well as preservatives, emulsifiers GMOs, Petrochemicals, animal testing (except for cosmetics tested on animals), pesticides hormones, antibiotics, heavy metallics and other contaminants.

They also help to preserve healthy skin and prevent premature aging.

These are some standard terms you might come across when shopping for organic items:

  • Paraben Free: These are chemicals that keep certain cosmetic products stable. However, they can be toxic if used in large quantities.
  • Fragrance-Free means that the product doesn't contain any essential oils or fragrances.

How can I determine if my produce was organic?

These three labels are essential if you want to be certain that you are purchasing organic produce.

USDA Organic Certified: Produces certified by USDA as 100% organic.

Certified Naturally Grown: Produce that has been grown in accordance with organic practices, but has yet to receive certification from USDA.

What is the difference between organic and inorganic foods?

Organic food is made without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic farming practices promote soil health, water quality and animal welfare.

Inorganic foods may be grown with chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or sewage sludge. Radiated foods can be treated with radiation. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are created by biological engineering techniques.

Sometimes, the term "natural", is used interchangeably with "organic." However, natural does not necessarily mean organic. Natural products can also be labeled with synthetic ingredients.

Organic produce is more nutritious than traditional produce due to the fact that it contains less harmful chemicals and pesticides. Organic farmers are free from artificial fertilizers and pesticides.

What are natural beauty products?

Organic Beauty Products contain natural ingredients without artificial chemicals, such as parabens and phenoxyethanol. These ingredients are commonly found in conventional beauty products like cosmetics, shampoos, and perfumes.

Organic beauty products are also free from animal testing and do not contain any genetically modified organisms (GMO).

The USDA defines the term' organic' as "a system of production that fosters cycling of resources" and has been used for decades to describe foodstuffs grown without pesticides.

There has been a rise in demand for ecofriendly beauty products over the years due to the negative effects of chemical chemicals on our skin.

These include skin irritations, cancer, hormonal imbalance, premature aging, and allergies.

Organic beauty companies are committed to creating healthy and safe products for consumers while protecting the environment.

Why is organic foods important?

It is essential for our health to eat organic produce. It's the best method to ensure you eat healthy foods. It's healthier for us as well as more environmentally-friendly because it doesn’t rely on pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals.

Organic farming uses natural methods to grow crops without harmful chemicals. This reduces the risk of environmental pollution, which makes it safer for people and animals. When you choose organic food, both you and the earth are protected.

But organic food offers more than just health benefits. We are all well aware of how harmful processed food can make our bodies feel. However, organic fruits & vegetables aren’t treated with chemical sprays. That means that they taste fresher, look brighter and last longer too.

This is why organic food is so important. Because it's not only healthy for you, it's healthier for the world.

How To

What happens to the body when you switch over to organic products

Organic products are grown without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics, or genetic manipulation. They come only from natural sources of water and free-range animals. The term "organic", which means they don't contain additives or chemicals, refers to their non-containing any. This product is natural and does not contain any harmful substances.

Natural means how food is grown. It's usually used to describe foods not processed into their final form (such as fruits). Natural foods are often more fresh than others, because they haven’t been processed with heat, radiation or chemical preservations. Some people think natural does not necessarily mean healthy. Experts believe there is no difference in organic and conventional food. Both types of food are tested for safety, quality, and purity. Organic produce has less pesticide residues and pollutant than conventionally grown food.

In general, most grocery stores now offer organic options. You can find organic meat, poultry, eggs, and seafood at your local market. Some companies sell only organic products. Other companies have separate sections. USDA Certified Organic is a non-GMO Project Verified company.

These products should not be consumed if you are pregnant. Unborn babies and infants can be affected by pesticides.
