Frequently Asked Questions

Are organic meats better?

If you've been paying attention for any time, you probably already know the answer to this question. This is the crux of it: organic food has been growing in popularity while conventional food has fallen out of favor.

Organic foods continue to be popular because they offer a healthier alternative. In addition to being safer for our health, organic products also help the environment by reducing pollution and waste.

However, this coin has two sides. Organic produce is more difficult to grow and takes more resources. Organic food is generally more expensive than nonorganic.

Organic meats are generally more expensive than conventionally raised animals. But, you can reduce the cost of organic meats without compromising quality.

Buy locally to save money. Locally grown produce helps to keep the prices down because farmers are given incentives to grow healthy crops.

You can also look for deals to reduce costs. You may be able to get discounts when you buy organics.

Another way to save money? Eat less meat. Because of the amount of feed required to raise livestock, meat production can become expensive.

There are many reasons organic foods are better for our bodies and the environment, but we need to be mindful of the cost.

What are organic beauty products?

Organic Beauty Products do not contain synthetic chemicals like petroleum, parabens or phenoxyethanol. They are made from natural ingredients and don't contain artificial preservatives. These ingredients are commonly found in conventional beauty products like cosmetics, shampoos, and perfumes.

Organic beauty products are also free from animal testing and do not contain any genetically modified organisms (GMO).

The USDA defines organic as "a system that fosters the cycling of resources." It has been used for many decades to describe food products grown without pesticides.

The harmful effects of chemical compounds on our bodies have led to an increase in the demand for ecofriendly beauty products.

These include skin irritations, cancer, hormonal imbalance, premature aging, and allergies.

Organic beauty products are created by companies that care about the environment and create safe, healthy products for customers.

What are organic fruits?

Organic foods are free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Organic foods contain more nutrients like vitamins A, C and E, as well as omega-3 fatty oils. These nutritious ingredients make organic foods better for our bodies, and for the planet.

Organic foods are produced with sustainable farming practices that promote soil quality and biological diversity. They are free of toxic chemicals, irradiation and sewage effluent.

Although organics are most commonly associated with produce, organics can also be found in dairy, meats, poultry, eggs and baked goods.

"Organic" is defined by the USDA as crops that have been grown following strict guidelines set forth in federal government standards. To grow these foods, farmers cannot use non-organic (or conventional) methods. However, they can use approved natural methods to control pests, like crop rotation and cover crops, or animal feed made of organic materials.

Further, the farmer must be careful about the amount of pesticide and fertilizer he uses in the growing season. GMOs (genetically modified organisms), synthetic growth hormones and insecticides as well as synthetic fertilizers are prohibited by farmers.

Fruits and vegetables labelled "100% organic" meet all the requirements above. But some farms do not label their products as 100% organic because it would confuse consumers. They will instead label their product "made with organic ingredients." "

What should I be looking out for when shopping organic products

USDA-certified organic labels should be sought. This guarantee that the product has met specific standards set forth by USDA. Look for the "USDA Organic" seal on packages, boxes, cartons, cans, and jars.

When purchasing meat, ensure it is 100% organic. Cattle are ruminants which means that they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle can be found with four stomach compartments: the rumen, the reticulum, omasum, abomasum and omasum. Organic feeding must be done on all organs of the animal in order to get the cow labelled organic 100 percent.

Chicken should be only purchased from chickens raised on organic feed, and not given antibiotics. Chickens are omnivores. This means they can eat both plant and animal food. A digestive tract that is omnivorous includes a crop, proventriculus and gizzard. It also contains small intestines, large intestines, and anus.

It is important to ensure that dairy products are from cows that were fed 100% organic feed. Just like ruminants, dairy cows also have four stomachs. Milk comes from the fourth stomach compartment--the udder.

If you are buying other types of livestock, make sure to check the label to determine the percentage of their diet. For example, pork may be marked "95% organic" to indicate that 95 percent of the pork's feed is organic.

What's the difference between organic foods and inorganic food?

Organic food is free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers and sewage sludge. It can also be grown without irradiation or genetic modification. Organic farming practices are good for soil health, water quality, animal welfare, and the environment.

Inorganic foods are produced using chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and sewage effluent. Radiation can be used to destroy food, while genetically modified organisms are created by biological engineering.

"Natural" is sometimes used interchangeably in the context of "organic." Natural does not necessarily have to mean organic. Products labelled "natural", however, may contain synthetic chemicals.

Because organic produce contains fewer harmful chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers than conventional produce it is more nutritious. Organic farmers also don't use synthetic fertilizers or hormones, pesticides, or antibiotics.

Why is organic produce important?

Organic produce is important for our health. It's the best way to ensure we eat nutritious foods. It's better for us and more sustainable because it doesn’t depend on pesticides or fertilizers.

Organic farming uses natural methods to grow crops without harmful chemicals. This reduces the risk of environmental pollution, which makes it safer for people and animals. By choosing organic food, you are protecting the planet as well as yourself.

The benefits of organic food go beyond our health, though. We all know how toxic processed food can make you feel. However, organic fruits & vegetables aren’t treated with chemical sprays. This means they are more fresh tasting, last longer and look better.

Organic food is so important. Organic food is not only healthier for you but also for the whole world.

Is organic food better for us?

According to the Environmental Working Group, organic vegetables and fruits had half the amount of pesticides as non-organic. Organic strawberries contained four times more pesticides that their conventional counterparts, and organic apples contained eight percent less.

Another study suggests that organic food can reduce exposure to toxic metals such as lead and mercury. For instance, one study showed that children who consumed organic meat had 33% less blood lead levels than children who did not. A second study found that conventional fish should be avoided by pregnant women due to the high levels of mercury.

Organic food tends to be healthier than nonorganic. Experts recommend fresh vegetables and fruits whenever possible in order to reduce the risk of getting cancer.
