Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I go organic?
Conventional agriculture has been linked with many health problems including asthma, allergies. When buying food, you must make wise choices.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) offers the following tips on how to pick "cleaner" food:
Always buy organic fruits & vegetables.
USDA organic labels should be used on meat, poultry and eggs as well as milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, honey, and other dairy products.
Avoid processed foods that are labeled "natural" or "no added ingredients."
Carefully review ingredient lists. It is possible to add an ingredient during processing if it isn't already listed.
You should choose fresh meats rather than frozen or canned. Foods that are frozen or canned often have less nutritionally-rich ingredients, such as high fructosecorn syrup.
What is organic?
Organic meat is organic food that has been grown naturally without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers or hormones. Organic meat is also a guarantee that the animals weren’t fed any genetically altered feed. The meat is safe to consume because it contains no harmful chemicals.
Organic meats are better for the environment. The pollution levels in our environment are reduced when we eat organic foods. We can also help wildlife by eating organic foods. Organic farmers do not often use toxic chemicals that can kill birds or insects.
Locally purchasing organic meats is the best way to make sure you are eating healthy and organic meats. Local shopping helps keep more money in your community than it does out of state. Local businesses often pass along savings to customers when shopping locally. Shopping locally keeps American jobs in America, rather than sending them abroad.
Is organic the same as pesticide-free?
Organic food is chemical-free and grown without pesticides. This means that organic foods are not subject to chemical pesticides or fertilizers.
Organic produce also contains more nutrients than conventionally produced foods because it contains no harmful additives.
Farmers must follow strict guidelines to grow organic crops under the USDA National Organic Program (NOP).
These guidelines include soil preparation, crop rotating, pest control and water conservation.
Organic farming methods are also beneficial for wildlife and natural habitats.
What are the top organic vegetables?
Organic vegetables are the best and most nutritious food source. They are considered to be the healthiest foods on earth.
Organic produce can be grown without the use of pesticides herbicides fungicides and chemical fertilizers. These chemicals pose grave risks for our health and the environment.
Organic produce also has more nutrients, vitamins minerals, antioxidants and phytonutrients. They also contain more fibre, essential fatty acids, enzymes, fiber, and enzymes. This makes them healthier because we absorb these nutrients better when eating organics.
Not only do organic vegetables taste delicious, but they are also safe to eat. Organic produce does not have side effects.
Organic fruits and vegetables can be found at all grocery stores. You can find organic fruits and vegetables at all grocery stores as long as they conform to USDA guidelines.
Is organic food good for you?
There are two types. Those we grow or those we get from someone else. While there are exceptions, the general answer is yes to both. Organic food is healthier because it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, or genetically modified organisms (GMO).
There are many supermarkets that sell organic food across North America and Europe. Many grocery stores now sell organic food. This makes it easier for customers to select organic products.
Organic food tastes better and is more nutritious, as it has higher levels of vitamins and minerals. Organics can be grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. This ensures that organics do not pollute our soil or water supply.
The USDA regulates organic farming practices and requires farmers to follow strict guidelines to ensure that organic produce is safe to eat. There are over 30,000,000 acres of US agricultural land that has been certified organic.
As an added benefit, organic food is often much cheaper than conventional food. For the same amount, consumers pay less. Organic farms can charge lower prices for their crops since they aren't required to pay for expensive chemical inputs such as insecticides or fungicides.
According to the Environmental Working Group Organic food is actually 10 percent more expensive per pound than conventionally grown food. If you care about the health of yourself and your family, consider switching to organic food.
Organic food has become an increasingly popular alternative to American standard diets. While many believe organic food can only come from specialty markets and fine dining restaurants, it is not true. Organic food is easily available in all regular grocery stores in the United States.
Recent years have seen a significant increase in organic food sales. Organic food market value in the US increased from $21 billion to $43 billion in 2007 to reach $43 billion in 2012.
What are the benefits of organic fruits?
Organic food is free from pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and hormones. They are also richer in nutrients like vitamins C, E, K, and omega-3 fat acids. These ingredients are good for our bodies as well as the planet.
Organic foods are produced using sustainable agricultural practices that protect soil quality and promote biological diversity. They are made without the use of harmful chemicals, irradiation or sewage waste.
While most consumers associate organics with produce, many organic products include dairy, meat, poultry, eggs, baked goods, personal care items, pet food, and household cleaning supplies.
"Organic" is defined by the USDA as crops that have been grown following strict guidelines set forth in federal government standards. These foods cannot be grown by farmers using conventional methods. They may however use approved natural pest management methods like crop rotation or cover cropping as well as organic feeds.
In addition, the farmer must follow guidelines regarding how much fertilizer and pesticide he uses during the growing season and rotate his fields between various crops. Farmers cannot use genetically modified organisms (GMOs), artificial growth hormones, synthetic insecticides, or synthetic fertilizers.
Fruits and vegetables labelled "100% organic" meet all the requirements above. However, some farms won't claim that their products are 100% organic. This would confuse the consumers. Instead, they will label their product as "made with organic ingredients. "

In this post I'll share some tips and techniques for buying organic meat that won't break the bank.
I will give you tips on where to find cheap organic meats and how much they cost per pound. You will be able to make the most of what you have purchased.
It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes, you have to use your creativity to save money while still eating well. Here's my list of ways to keep your food costs down while enjoying organic meat's benefits.
- Shop at wholesale clubs - Sams Club or Costco are great places to buy bulk foods such as chicken breasts and pork chops. You may be able to get large quantities of meat for as low as 50 pounds if your home is near one of these stores. This will ensure that you don't waste any meat. It's also possible to freeze meat purchased in bulk so that it lasts longer.
- You can shop online for meat at great prices. Amazon has Prime Pantry, a weekly sale that offers free shipping for orders over $35. There are also discounts on lamb steaks (lamb steaks), ground beef, pork loins, and beef roasts. You can easily browse their website to see what is available at different times.
- Find a local farmer - Local farmers usually charge less than big box retailers because they do not pay considerable fees to stock their shelves. Plus, they know exactly what their animals ate and drank, so they know exactly what's inside their bodies.
- Look for meat cuts that are leanest - Lean meat is generally cheaper to cook than fatty meat. Therefore, choose the leanest cuts. These include sirloin, tenderloin, top round, flank, and top-round steaks. These cuts are high in protein and low in fat.
- You don't have to be afraid to try new recipes. Cooking with new ingredients is one of the best ways to cut your grocery bills. You'll be surprised at how many delicious dishes can you create using fresh tomatoes.
- Be creative with leftovers - If you have leftover cooked meat or poultry, use them for sandwiches, salads, soups, casseroles, etc. It's easy to make quick lunches and dinners with leftover meat.
Here you have it! This is my list of tips to help you afford organic meat, even if your budget is tight. Are you able to offer any additional tips? Do you have any suggestions for me on where to find cheap meat?
