What's the difference?

Organic food is made without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic farming practices are good for soil health, water quality, animal welfare, and the environment.

Inorganic food is grown with pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Radiation is used to treat irradiated food; biological engineering techniques are used to create genetically modified organisms (GMO).

Sometimes, the term "natural", is used interchangeably with "organic." But natural does not necessarily imply organic. Natural products can also be labeled with synthetic ingredients.

Organic produce is more nutritious than traditional produce due to the fact that it contains less harmful chemicals and pesticides. Organic farmers do not use pesticides, artificial fertilizers, hormones, anti-biotics, and other harmful chemicals.

Is organic a guarantee that the product is pesticide-free

Organic food is chemical-free and grown without pesticides. This means that organic foods are not subject to chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

Because organic produce does not contain harmful additives it has more nutrients that conventionally produced foods.

The USDA National Organic Program, (NOP), requires farmers to adhere to strict guidelines when cultivating organic crops.

These guidelines include soil preparation, crop rotation, pest control, water conservation, and harvesting practices.

Organic farming techniques also contribute to healthy ecosystems that benefit wildlife as well as natural habitats.

What are organic fruits?

Organic foods are free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They contain more nutrients such vitamins A, C. E, and, in some cases, omega-3 oils. These ingredients are good for our bodies as well as the planet.

Organic foods are grown using sustainable farming practices that preserve soil quality and encourage biological diversity. They are free of toxic chemicals, irradiation and sewage effluent.

While most consumers associate organics with produce, many organic products include dairy, meat, poultry, eggs, baked goods, personal care items, pet food, and household cleaning supplies.

"Organic" is defined by the USDA as crops that have been grown following strict guidelines set forth in federal government standards. This means that farmers can't use non-organic methods of growing these foods. They may however use approved natural pest management methods like crop rotation or cover cropping as well as organic feeds.

A farmer must also adhere to guidelines about how much fertilizer or pesticide he applies during the growing season. Also, he must rotate his fields between different crops. GMOs, synthetic insecicides, artificial growth hormones or synthetic fertilizers can't be used by farmers.

All the above requirements are met by vegetables and fruits that are labeled "100% Organic". But, not all farms label their produce as 100% organic. It would confuse consumers. They will instead label their product "made with organic ingredients." "

How To

What happens when you switch from conventional products to organic?

Organic products are produced without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They are free-range and come from clean water sources. Organic means that they are free from chemicals and additives. This product was made from natural materials and is free of harmful substances.

Natural refers to the way food was grown. It is used to describe food that has not been processed into its final form, such as fruits. Natural foods are often fresher because they're not subject to heat radiation, chemical preservatives or any other treatment. Natural doesn't necessarily have to be healthy, however. Experts believe there is no difference in organic and conventional food. Both types of food are tested for safety, quality, and purity. But organic produce has fewer pollutants and pesticide residues than conventionally grown produce.

Most grocery stores now carry organic meats and poultry. For organic meats, poultry, eggs and seafood, you should check with your local supermarket. Some companies sell only organic products. Other companies have separate sections. You should look for USDA Certified Organic, Non GMO Project Verified (Biodynamic Association Certified), Rainforest Alliance Certified, and other certifications.

You should avoid eating these items if you are pregnant or nursing. Pesticides have been shown to harm infants and unborn babies.
