Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between cooking with whole spices and using ground spices? Ground Spices?

There is no difference in cooking with whole spices and cooked with ground spices. All spices are ground after harvesting. So there is no difference in quality.

But the price gap is significant. Whole spices cost more because of the labour involved in processing them. But the flavour is well worth it.

Buy whole spices and you'll often receive additional discounts. If you buy a whole bag of cinnamon sticks, you may get a discount.

The same is true for nutmeg cloves ginger, cardamom, and ginger. This can help you save money on spices if you buy them in bulk.

Ground spices last much longer than whole spices. Ground spices lose their potency very quickly due to oxidation.

We recommend buying whole spices because they add flavor to your recipes.

A delicious curry can be made with whole turmeric as opposed to ground turmeric. You can also use whole coriander to create a spice combination for chicken dishes.

Additionally, spices need to be ground. If you're buying whole spices it makes sense for you to buy large quantities. So that you don’t run out of spices, it’s a smart move.

What are the principal Flavours in Thai Cuisine?

Thai cuisine includes several distinct regional cuisines. These include Northern, Central and Southern Thai food. Each region has its distinctive flavour profile.

Thai food can be described as sweet, salty or sour.

Thais appreciate sweetness. It makes Thai food taste better. Thai cuisine relies heavily on sweet ingredients, such as coconut milk (gula melaka), and palm sugar.

In Thailand, sourness is very popular. Sour foods are often served alongside hot dishes. This combination balances out the heat.

Thai food is not complete without spicy food. Thai cuisine is rich in spices like galangal, ginger root and chilli pepper.

What is the importance of spices?

A spice can be described as a seasoning to enhance flavour in food. There are many types of spices, including powders, liquids and oils. They can also be known as condiments, flavours, and flavor.

A great way to spice up your meals is to add some variety. For extra flavor and excitement, you can add many spices to your dishes.

It may be that adding a few drops to your bowl of soup makes it more flavorful. Perhaps you can add some cayenne peppers to your cup of rice.

You can experiment with spice recipes best if you use fresh ingredients. Look for organic dried herbs when you purchase them. Fresh herbs will last longer than dried.

There are certain spices that are essential for cooking. But there are also some you might want to avoid. Cinnamon sticks are high in coumarin so you should avoid them if your liver has been affected. Ginger also contains some coumarin but it is less concentrated. It's safe for people who don't have a history of liver problems.

What purpose is Thai spice used?

We all have heard the term Thai spices, but we don't understand what it really means. But once we start to feel the heat in our mouths, we wonder why it hasn't been eaten more.

It isn't just any spice. It's an essential ingredient that adds flavor and depth to dishes that would otherwise be bland.

Many recipes call for Thai spice, but only a few have the actual thing. So let's help you figure out how to ensure you're adding these delicious flavors to your meals.

Thais have been cooking with herbs, spices and other flavors since ancient times. Thai derives its name from the Sanskrit phrase "to cook".

Even today, most Thais prefer to eat spicy foods. This preference is often due to the heat in Thailand which makes it difficult for people to stay warm without hot drinks. Thais are also more likely to consume chili peppers as compared to Americans or Europeans.

A local Asian grocery store is the best place to learn more about Thai spice. You'll find many ingredients there, including fresh basil leaves, dried chilies and curry paste.

You may also come across whole peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cardamom pods, ginger root, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, nutmeg, mace, mustard seed, saffron threads, garlic, onion, rice vinegar and tamarind juice.

Thai cuisine can use either dry or wet spices. Most Thai cuisine uses dry spices, which are ground and pulverized finely.

Dry spices are typically added directly to a dish. Ground red pepper can be sprinkled on chicken soup, for example. A paste is made by combining wet spices and oil with butter or butter.

Wet spices can be used in sauces, dressings, and marinades. The most popular wet spices are fish sauce (oyster sauce), sesame oil, sesame paste, curry paste, and Hoisin sauce.

You need to be able to match certain spices with Thai ingredients if you wish to make Thai food at home.

Red pepper flakes are recommended for beef. If you use seafood like shrimp, you should use white pepper instead.

If you don’t have access or the means to order from an Asian market, it is possible to order online. You will find everything from dried chilies to exotic herbs and spices here.

You might want to try these Thai recipes next time you feel hungry.

How To

How to store cooking spice?

Here's how to store your cooking spices for maximum performance. We must first understand the science behind food storage.

Because light can diminish the flavour of spices, they should be kept in sealed containers. This is due to oxidation which occurs when oxygen combines with organic compounds such as those found in spices.

To prevent oxidation of spices, keep them in dark cupboards. Spices lose their flavor quickly if these conditions don't exist.

Keep spices fresh by storing them in airtight jars out of direct sunlight.

You can add herbs and spices to water to make a flavoured drink. Mix 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon with 1/2 cup of warm liquid and stir. Add a squeezed lemon juice and serve immediately.

Add dried herbs and spices to soups. Just sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the dish. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before you serve.

Remaining cooked vegetables, fruit and meats can be used in your favorite recipes to make snacks.

You can enjoy the fresh flavours of fresh herbs or spices by chopping them up and adding them to food while they are still hot. It is also possible to freeze herbs and spices in muffin cups or ice cube trays. Once frozen, place them in freezer bags or zip-top bags.
