Frequently Asked Questions

What are the seven Indian spices?

Indian spices is a collection Indian spices. They include coriander and turmeric as well as cardamom, cumin and coriander. They enhance flavour and aroma of dishes by blending with natural ingredients like meats and vegetables. These spices combine to create distinctive flavour profiles which are the hallmark of Indian cooking.

Cardamom has a sweet and pungent taste with hints of citrus and ginger. It is often used to flavour curries and rice dishes like biryani. Cumin has a earthy aroma and a rich, bitter flavour. It is used to spice up curries, dals and meat dishes. Coriander adds a delicate nuttiness and sweet citrus aroma to dishes. It is used often to season vegetables and lentils.

Turmeric has an earthy, spicy flavour that includes mustard, spices and pepper hints. This spice is used in many dishes, including curries. It has a golden colour. Fenugreek has a rich aroma, earthy tones, and a slightly bitter flavour. Fenugreek is used to season meat dishes such as kebabs or curries. It is spicy and pungent with citrus hints. It can be used to spice up soups, curries and chutneys. Asafoetida (hing) has a pungent smell and strong flavor that substitutes onion and garlic in some recipes.

These spices combine to create unique flavours that make Indian cuisine so distinctive.

What Herbs or Spices go Best with Potatoes

A potato is a great side dish for almost any meat. There are many ways to cook potatoes, other than just mashed.

These versatile vegetables are great additions to many meals, including casseroles, soups and pasta dishes. Many spices and herbs are good with potatoes, did you know?

These tasty recipes will make your potato recipe even more delicious

What's the difference between cooking whole and with ground spices? Ground Spices?

There are no significant differences in the cooking of whole and ground spices. All spices are ground after harvesting. It doesn't make a difference in terms of quality.

However, this price differential is quite significant. Whole spices cost more because of the labour involved in processing them. However, the flavor is worth it.

Bulk purchases of whole spices can often get you additional discounts. An example: If you buy an entire bag full of cinnamon sticks, you might get a discount.

The same goes for nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc. You might be able to save money by buying these spices in bulk.

Whole spices also last longer than ground spices. Ground spices lose their potency rapidly due to oxygenation.

However, the main reason we recommend whole spices is because they add character to recipes.

A delicious curry can be made with whole turmeric as opposed to ground turmeric. You can also grind whole coriander leaves to make a spice mix for chicken dishes.

The process of grinding spices takes a lot of time. A large amount of whole spices is a good idea. That way, you won't run out of spices too fast.

What is the value of spices?

A spice is a seasoning that is used to enhance the flavor of food. Spices can be powdered, liquids or oils. They can also be called condiments or flavours.

You can spice up meals to make them more interesting. Numerous spices can be added to dishes for extra flavour and excitement.

It may be that adding a few drops to your bowl of soup makes it more flavorful. A cup of cooked rice could be made more delicious by adding a few cayenne to the soup.

Fresh ingredients are the best option to spice up your recipes. If you buy dried herbs, look for those that are organic. Fresh herbs are more durable than dried herbs.

There are certain spices that are essential for cooking. But there are also some you might want to avoid. If you have a history liver disease, cinnamon sticks should be avoided. Ginger also contains high amounts of coumarin. However, it is much more concentrated. It's safe for those without any history of liver problems.

What spices are used to make Thai cuisine?

Thai cuisine is well-known for its rich flavour profiles. These flavours come from unique and flavorful spices that create various delicious dishes.

Thai cooking uses many common ingredients, including galangal kaffir lime leaf, galangal kaffir lemon leaves, chillies, chillies, garlic, shrimp paste, cumin, turmeric, and many more.

Each spice adds to Thai cuisine's distinct flavour profile. Lemongrass is often used in soups, curries, and stews; galangal adds a slight peppery note to dishes; kaffir lime leaves impart a citrusy aroma; chillies provide a spicy kick; garlic adds a sharp and pungent flavour to dishes; shrimp paste adds an umami depth to food; coriander has a mild, yet fragrant aroma; cumin brings a smoky note to dishes; and turmeric gives food a vibrant yellow hue.

Combining these spices together creates complex flavour profiles, which are unique to Thai food. Chefs can create delicious and aromatic dishes by using a variety of spices. You can bring Thai flavors to your kitchen by stocking up on these spices.

How To

How do you make a garlic press?

A garlic presse is an indispensable tool for home chefs. This allows you to quickly mince garlic and make smooth sauces, soups, and salad dressings. It can also be used to crush whole garlic cloves into buttery spreads or garlic salt.

But if you don't own a garlic press yet, you might wonder where to start with one. We have some tips to help get you started.

First things first: you'll need a large bowl. Place the bowl underneath the press and pour the crushed garlic into it. Now, set the pressure regulator valve to the maximum.

Next, rotate the handle clockwise until it clicks. The top of the press should lift up and expose a flat surface. This will allow you slide the blade back-and-forth over the bowl. Continue turning the handle counterclockwise to close the blades.

Finally, take out the pressed ginger and enjoy!

Here are other ways you can make use of this versatile tool.

  • Garlic mince can be added to soups or sauces, salads or dips.
  • To crush whole garlic cloves, use the press to create a buttery spread
  • Before baking, crush whole cloves of garlic on pizza dough
  • Blend roasted garlic into mashed potatoes or creamy polenta
  • Make pesto with garlic mashed in the press
  • Blend garlic to make a smooth vinaigrette
