There are certain spices that are essential for cooking. But there are also some you might want to avoid. Cinnamon sticks have high levels of coumarin. They should not be consumed if you have had liver disease in the past. Ginger also has coumarin, although it's less concentrated. It is safe for people without a history or liver disease.


Almond Flour vs. Almond Meal: What's the Difference?

An almond meal can be used as an alternative to almond flour. It can also be used in cooking and baking.

Almond flour could also contain gluten making it difficult for some people to digest. Avoid gluten-free food if you have celiac disease, or any other digestive disorder.

Almond flour isn't considered "superfood", but it is high in healthy fats, fibres, protein, vitamin E, and sodium.

The almond meal offers many nutritional benefits including iron, magnesium, zinc, manganese (thiamin), calcium, vitamin A, B1 and Vitamin C.

Almond flour is made with almonds. Almond oils contain polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. Both types help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels.

Almond flour is also high in antioxidants, such as phenolics, flavonoids and proanthocyanidins. These compounds prevent free radical-induced oxidative stress.

An experiment published in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry showed that almond flour has an equivalent antioxidant activity to that of blueberries.

Almond flour is commonly sold together with almondmilk, which has additional nutrients.


What is the difference between curry and curried?

There is no difference between the spellings. Both terms refer to the exact same thing: An Indian dish that combines meat and vegetables with different seasonings.

Curry derives its name from the Hindi word kari which means "to rub." The spice mixture is then applied to the food. Curried foods are typically cooked until browned.

While curried dishes were once reserved only for special occasions they are now enjoyed regularly throughout India. They can be made with chicken, beef or lamb and include vegetables as well.

Curried dishes are typically served alongside plain white rice. You can also add raita (a yogurt sauce), or chutney (a sweet relish).


What is the use of garlic in Thai cooking?

Thai cuisine includes garlic. Garlic is used in Thai cuisine as an ingredient in salads, soups and stir-fries.

Garlic is often fried in Thailand with ginger, shallots, and other spices. It is also often eaten with sticky rice.

Garlic is best chopped finely and mixed with oil, chilli paste, fish sauce, lime juice and oil. This mixture is known as Nam Phrik (namphrik). Nam phrik is often accompanied by grilled chicken or beef.


Can you add spice to a beverage?

I love how spices add flavor to food. But how can you make them live when they're used in drinks.

Spices are excellent because they add incredible depth to any beverage. You can add a little cinnamon or nutmeg to any glass of wine, beer or coffee.

Most recipes require ground spices. You will need to use fresh whole spices. This is sensible, but it can be expensive, time-consuming, and requires storage space.

This is where the magic happens. With some creativity, your favourite spices can be made into powdered forms that are easy to use. You can then mix the spices into your favorite beverages to make delicious spiced drinks.

There are two possible ways to create these powders. One method involves grinding whole spices into fine powder. Another uses a mortar and pestle to grind the spices into a finer consistency.

Whichever method you choose, you'll find that the resulting powder is much easier to measure out and store than whole spices. Plus, the powder keeps well so that you won't run out of stock.

You can even experiment with mixing different spices to create new flavours. For example, you could combine peppermint and spearmint leaves to make minty water. For spicy ginger tea, use ginger and cardamom capsules.

Once you have mastered the art of making powdered spices you can use that same technique for herbs. Basil, rosemary, thyme and sage are some of the most popular herbs.

There are many options. Use powdered spices to give your beverages extra flavour or to enhance the taste of dishes such as soups, salads, and pasta.

Are You able to make curry paste?

Curry paste uses dried chillies, shallots, galangal root, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, garlic, shrimp paste, sugar, salt, and sometimes coconut milk. It's a common ingredient in Thai cuisine.

One of the most widely used condiments in Southeast Asia is curry paste. Curry paste adds a distinctive flavour to many dishes such as curries and soups, stir fries, stir-fries or rice dishes.

It is easy to make your own at-home recipes! Follow the steps below to make it easy!

Step1 - Prepare Ingredients

  • Before you start this recipe, make sure that all ingredients are prepared.
  • To begin, you will need to peel and chop shallots (about 2 cups). Next, chop galangal root into small pieces (3 inches in length) and place aside.
  • Next, you will need to peel and slice the garlic cloves (about 4 cloves). The lemongrass stems should be roughly 1/2 inch thick.
  • Crush the red chilli peppers with about four tablespoons of water and remove the seeds.
  • Next, trim the kaffir lime leaves into strips about 5 inches in length. The white part of your stem should be removed and put aside.
  • Next, drain and wash the shrimp paste (6 ounces), and then coarsely mashing it.
  • Final, weigh out salt and sugar.

Step2 - Grind Ingredients

  • Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.
  • The texture should look similar to peanut-butter.
  • You can replace some oil with water if you wish to reduce the oil content of your dish.

Step3 - Add Coconut Milk

  • Mix in coconut milk and stir well.
  • To prevent the coconut milk from becoming too sticky, slowly add it.
  • You can reduce the amount of chillies and increase the quantity of galangal root if you prefer it less spicy.
  • For a more spicy taste, increase the amount of chillies and reduce the use of galangal root. The end result should be delicious.

Step4 -- Serve

  • Top your favorite foods with this topping.
  • Enjoy!
