What purpose is Thai spice used?

The term Thai spice is a common phrase that we've heard a lot, but don't really know what it means. But once we start to feel the heat in our mouths, we wonder why it hasn't been eaten more.

It's not just any spice. It's an ingredient that can add flavor and depth in dishes that otherwise would be bland.

While there are thousands of Thai-inspired recipes out there, few of them contain the real thing. Let's discuss how to incorporate these tasty flavors into your meals.

Thais have been cooking with herbs, spices and other flavors since ancient times. Thai, which means "to make", comes from the Sanskrit word.

Many Thais love spicy foods, even today. This preference is often explained by the hot climate in Thailand that makes it difficult to stay warm while drinking hot drinks. Thais also consume more chili peppers that Americans or Europeans.

You can learn the most about Thai spices by visiting a local Asian grocery. There, you'll find a wide variety of ingredients, including dried chilies, fresh basil leaves, curry paste, and even ground black pepper.

Also, you may find whole peppercorns.

Thai cuisine offers two types of spices: dry and moist. Dry spices are usually ground, while wet ones are crushed or pounded finely.

Dry spices are typically added directly to a dish. For example, ground red pepper is sprinkled onto chicken soup. A paste is made by combining wet spices and oil with butter or butter.

Wet spices are used in dressings, sauces and marinades. Wet spices are used in many dishes, including fish sauce, oyster, sesame, sesame, sesame oil and curry paste.

How To

Are you a master of making curry paste?

Curry paste uses dried chillies, shallots, galangal root, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, garlic, shrimp paste, sugar, salt, and sometimes coconut milk. It is used extensively in Thai cuisine.

Curry paste is a popular condiment in Southeast Asia. Curry paste adds a distinctive flavour to many dishes such as curries and soups, stir fries, stir-fries or rice dishes.

It's very simple to make this at home. Follow our step by step guide below.

Step1 - Prepare Ingredients

  • Before you start this recipe, make sure that all ingredients are prepared.
  • To begin, you will need to peel and chop shallots (about 2 cups). Cut galangal root in small pieces, about 3 inches long. Set aside.
  • Next, peel and slice garlic cloves (about four cloves). The lemongrass stems should be roughly 1/2 inch thick.
  • You can then crush the red chilli bell peppers into small pieces (about 4 tablespoons), and then you can remove the seeds (optional).
  • Next, cut the kaffir-lime leaves into thin strips (5 inches). The white part of your stem should be removed and put aside.
  • Next, drain and wash the shrimp paste (6 ounces), and then coarsely mashing it.
  • Finally, measure the sugar and salt.

Step2 - Grind Ingredients

  • Grind all ingredients together until smooth.
  • The texture should be comparable to peanut butter.
  • You can replace some oil with water if you wish to reduce the oil content of your dish.

Step3 - Add Coconut Milk

  • Mix in coconut milk and stir well.
  • Slowly add coconut milk to ensure that the paste doesn't become too sticky.
  • If you prefer less spice, add less chillies to the recipe and more galangalroot.
  • You can make it more spicy by adding more chilies and less galangal root. The final result should taste good to you.

Step4 - Serve

  • Serve with your favourite foods.
  • Enjoy!
