This increase reflects consumer demand for healthier foods, which explains why organic food sales are increasing across all age groups.

However, the younger generation is leading the charge in choosing organic food. Millennials are twice as likely than baby boomers to buy organic foods. And young adults under 35 years old account for 25% of all organic food purchases.


Is organic meat more nutritious?

If you've been paying any attention, you likely already know the answer. This is the crux of it: organic food has been growing in popularity while conventional food has fallen out of favor.

Organic foods continue to be popular because they offer a healthier alternative. Organic foods are safer for our bodies and help to reduce pollution.

There are many sides to this coin. Organic produce is more difficult to grow and takes more resources. This means that organic food costs more money than its non-organic counterpart.

Organic meats will typically be more expensive than those that are raised in conventional conditions. But there are ways to cut costs without sacrificing quality.

What is organic food?

Organic food is grown without pesticides and artificial fertilizers. These chemicals may be harmful to your health and can also be found in non-organic foods.

What are organic fruits and vegetables?

Organic food does not contain pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. Organic foods contain more nutrients like vitamins A, C and E, as well as omega-3 fatty oils. These nutritious ingredients make organic foods better for our bodies, and for the planet.

Organic foods are produced with sustainable farming practices that promote soil quality and biological diversity. They are produced without harmful chemicals, irradiation, or sewage sludge.

Most people associate organics with fruits, but organic products also include dairy, meat and poultry, as well as baked goods, personal care items, pet food and household cleaning supplies.

The USDA defines organic as crops that are grown according to federal standards. Farmers cannot use conventional (non-organic) methods to grow these foods. They may however use approved natural pest management methods like crop rotation or cover cropping as well as organic feeds.

Sometimes, the term "natural", is used interchangeably with "organic." Natural does not always mean organic. Some products labeled "natural" may also contain synthetic ingredients.

Because organic produce contains fewer harmful chemicals, pesticides, and fertilizers than conventional produce it is more nutritious. Organic farmers also don't use synthetic fertilizers or hormones, pesticides, or antibiotics.


How can you tell if food is organic?

Fresh ingredients are what chefs value the most. We feel better when our food is good.

The same is true of our food. When we buy organics, we know exactly where it came from and how it was grown. We also know that it wasn't treated with harmful chemicals.

Organic foods are produced without using synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics, or genetically modified organisms (GMO). These substances are not allowed for organic farmers.

Organic farming doesn't have to be difficult. You have many options to safely grow them.

Sustainable agriculture is also known as organic farming. Organic farming is more sustainable than traditional methods and provides all the nutrients necessary to sustain life.

Organic farming methods include crop rotations, composting manure and cover cropping. These techniques reduce soil erosion and increase water quality.

5 Reasons to Buy Organic Products

Organic foods are grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They are free from genetically modified organisms and irradiated substances. Their production does not use sewage sludge and industrial solvents. During the course of its growth cycle, the natural environment of the food is protected from contamination. It is free of artificial preservatives and additives. No hormones or antibiotics are used. In addition, they are produced under conditions that allow them to retain their nutritional value and freshness for longer periods.
