Is organic food healthier?
There are two types of foods; those we grow ourselves and those we buy from someone else. While there are exceptions, the general answer is yes to both. Organic food is safer because it does not contain any harmful chemicals.
In supermarkets all over North America, Europe Asia, Latin America, Latin America, and Africa, you can find organic food. Many grocery stores now sell organic food. This makes it easier for customers to select organic products.
Organic food tastes better and is more nutritious, as it has higher levels of vitamins and minerals. Organics are often grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. This means that they do not pollute the soil and water sources.
The USDA regulates organic farming practices. They require farmers to follow strict guidelines so that organic produce can be eaten safely. There are currently over 30 million acres of US farmland certified as organic.
As an added benefit, organic food is often much cheaper than conventional food. Customers pay less for the same amount in calories, protein and nutrients. Organic farms can charge less for their crop because they aren’t required to buy expensive chemical inputs.
According to the Environmental Working Group Organic food is actually 10 percent more expensive per pound than conventionally grown food. You can make a change to organic food if your family is concerned about their health.
Organic food is a popular choice to traditional American cuisines. Organic food is not only available in gourmet restaurants and specialty markets, as many people may believe. Organic food is easily available in all regular grocery stores in the United States.
In recent years, organic food sales have been on the rise. Organic food market value in the US increased from $21 billion to $43 billion in 2007 to reach $43 billion in 2012.
What are my top priorities when buying organic products
Look for USDA-certified organic labels. This certification means that the product is certified organic by USDA. Look out for the USDA Organic seal on boxes, cartons cans and jars.
When purchasing meat, ensure it is 100% organic. Ruminants are cattle that chew their cud. Ruminant cattle have four stomach areas: rumen (reticulum), omasum (omasum), and abomasum. To be labeled '100% organic, all animal parts must be organically nourished.
Buy chicken from only organic chickens that have been fed 100% organic food and are not given antibiotics. Omnivore chickens can eat both plants as well as animals. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.
You should ensure you only buy dairy products made from milk that has been produced by cows who have been fed 100% organically grown food. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. The fourth stomach compartment--the cow's udder--is where milk is produced.
Check the label when purchasing livestock of any other type to find out what percentage was used in the animal's diet. One example is pork that may be labeled '95% Organic'. This means that 95 percent came from organic sources.

What are organic fruits?
Organic foods are grown without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, hormones, or antibiotics. They also contain more nutrients, such as vitamins A, C, E, and K, plus omega-3 fatty acids. These ingredients are good for our bodies as well as the planet.
Organic foods are grown with sustainable agricultural practices that help to preserve soil quality, and increase biological diversity. They are free of toxic chemicals, irradiation and sewage effluent.
Organics are often associated with produce. However, organic products can include dairy, meat, poultry and eggs as well as personal care items and pet food.
According to the USDA, "organic" means that crops are raised in compliance with federal standards. Non-organic methods cannot be used by farmers to grow these foods. However, they can use approved natural methods to control pests, like crop rotation and cover crops, or animal feed made of organic materials.
In addition, the farmer must follow guidelines regarding how much fertilizer and pesticide he uses during the growing season and rotate his fields between various crops. Farmers cannot use genetically modified organisms (GMOs), artificial growth hormones, synthetic insecticides, or synthetic fertilizers.
Vegetables and fruits labeled as "100% organic" fulfill all of the requirements. However, some farms won't claim that their products are 100% organic. This would confuse the consumers. Instead, they will say that their product is "made with organic components". "
What are organic food products?
Organic produce is grown without pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, genetic engineering, or confinement feeding. No growth hormones are used. Animal testing is also not done. These crops can grow naturally so that farmers don't have to use pesticides or weed control.
Organic farming practices can also preserve soil quality by reducing erosion, and conserving water resources. Organics have more nutrients than traditional food, which makes them better for our health. Organic products tend to be higher in fiber and lower fat than conventionally produced foods.

How To
Five Reasons to Purchase Organic Products
Organic foods do not use pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. They do not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or radioactive ingredients. Their production methods do not involve sewage sludge or industrial solvents. During its growing cycle, the food's natural environment will be protected from contamination. It is free of artificial preservatives and additives. There is no use of antibiotics or hormones. They are also grown in conditions that ensure they retain their nutritional value for longer periods of time.
- Health benefits. Organic produce contains less chemicals that nonorganic. This means that it is less likely to cause allergies. This means you're also consuming less toxic and carcinogens.
- Eco-friendliness. Produce grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizer requires very little water. Organic farms are often located far from areas with high levels of pollution because it takes so much energy for conventional agriculture to grow. That helps reduce air pollution.
- Sustainability. Organic farming relies on soil fertility, rather than chemical fertilisers. This results in healthier soils and higher levels organic matter. Rotating crops and allowing the soil to rest between harvests improves soil health. Strong immune systems develop when farm animals are fed only grasses grown without antibiotics or added hormones.
- Taste. Traditional fruits and vegetables are often bland due to the fact that they are picked at peak ripeness and shipped long distances for grocery stores. Organic produce is sweeter and richer because it was harvested at the peak of its ripeness.
- Nutrition. Many conventional processed foods contain harmful substances like BPA and GMOs. These harmful substances can be avoided by sticking to whole foods like meat, eggs, fish and nuts as well as seeds, beans, fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
