Frequently Asked Questions

What mint is used for Thai food?

Thai cuisine uses the most popular type of mint, the lime-leaf (Mentha cevina).

Its mild, lemony taste adds freshness and zest to dishes. Thai dishes are enhanced with other spices, such as galangal and coriander.

Mint is a versatile herb and can be used in both sweet and savoury recipes. Using the right spices, herbs, and aromatics is essential to achieving delicious authentic Thai flavours.

For extra flavor, make sure to add lime-leaf mint next time you prepare a Thai meal!

Happy cooking!

Is Thai cooking made with garlic?

Garlic is an ingredient used in Thai cuisine. Garlic is often used to make Thai dishes, including salads and soups, stir-fries and curries, as well as sauces and sauces.

Garlic is often fried in Thailand with ginger, shallots, and other spices. In addition, it is commonly eaten with sticky rice.

The most common way to eat garlic is to chop it finely and mix it with chilli paste, salt, fish sauce, lime juice, and oil. This mixture is known as Nam Phrik (namphrik). Nam phrik is often served with grilled chicken or beef.

What is the importance of spices?

A spice is a seasoning that is used to enhance the flavor of food. Spices can take many forms such as powders (liquids), oils, pastes and seeds. They are also known for their versatility and ability to be used as flavours and condiments.

A great way to spice up your meals is to add some variety. For extra flavor and excitement, you can add many spices to your dishes.

Perhaps a little hot pepper sauce will enhance the flavor of your soup. Perhaps you can add some cayenne peppers to your cup of rice.

Fresh ingredients are the best way to try new spicing techniques. Look for organic dried herbs when you purchase them. Fresh herbs last longer than dried.

Some spices are essential to cooking; however, there are some that you might prefer to avoid. Cinnamon sticks have high levels of coumarin. They should not be consumed if you have had liver disease in the past. Ginger also has coumarin, although it's less concentrated. It is safe for people without a history or liver disease.

Statistics

How To

How to Make a Garlic Press

A garlic press is one of the most valuable tools in any home cook's arsenal. It allows you to efficiently mince garlic into a paste or puree it into a smooth sauce, soup, or salad dressing. It is also useful for crushing whole cloves of garlic into buttery spreads and garlic salt.

You might be wondering where to begin if you don’t have a garlic press. Luckily, we've got some tips to help you get started.

First, get a large container. Place the bowl underneath the press and pour the crushed garlic into it. Now, set the pressure regulator valve to the maximum.

Next, move the handle clockwise so that you hear a click. The top portion of the press should come off, revealing a flat surface. You can slide the blade across the bowl. Continue turning the handle counterclockwise to close the blades.

Finally, take out the pressed ginger and enjoy!

Here are some more ways to use this versatile instrument:

  • Add minced garlic to soups, sauces, salads, and dips (or even as a seasoning)
  • Use the press for whole garlic cloves to make a buttery spread
  • Crush whole cloves of garlic onto pizza dough before baking
  • Make roasted garlic mashed potatoes, or creamy polenta.
  • Make pesto with garlic mashed in the press
  • Puree garlic and make a smooth dressing
