What are the main spices, condiments, seasonings and herbs used in Thai cuisine?

Thai cuisine is an amalgamation of influences from across Asia. Its roots lie in India and China, along with Southeast Asia.

Freshness is the main ingredient in Thai cuisine. You get more flavor if ingredients are picked in the early stages of cooking and then cooked quickly. This is why meats, fish, vegetables and fruits are often eaten raw and hot.

The addition of spices and sauces can add depth and aroma to dishes. Almond Flour or Almond Meal? What is the difference?

An almond meal, which can be used as an almond flour substitute, is more versatile than other almond flours because it can be used for baking and cooking, as well as making nut free dishes.

Almond flour may also contain gluten, making it difficult to digest. Gluten-free foods should be avoided if you have celiac Disease or any other digestive condition.

Although almond flour isn’t considered to be a “superfood”, it is rich in healthy fats and fibre.

The almond meal provides nutritional benefits such as magnesium, iron, zinc and manganese. It also contains vitamin A, B1 (thiamin), C, and folate.

Almond flour is made from almonds and contains monounsaturated fat acids. Almond oil, however, contains polyunsaturated oils. Both types lower LDL (bad cholesterol) and increase HDL(good cholesterol).

Almond flour is also rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolics. These compounds help to prevent oxidative damage from free radicals.

An experiment published in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry showed that almond flour has an equivalent antioxidant activity to that of blueberries.

Almond flour can be purchased with almond milk that has been supplemented with nutrients.

How to Make a Garlic Pressure?

A garlic press is one of the most valuable tools in any home cook's arsenal. It allows you to efficiently mince garlic into a paste or puree it into a smooth sauce, soup, or salad dressing. You can also crush whole garlic cloves to make buttery spreads or garlic seasonings.

If you don't yet have a garlic presse, you may be wondering where to get one. Luckily, we've got some tips to help you get started.

First things first: you'll need a large bowl. Place the bowl under the pressure regulator and pour the crushed garlic inside. Now, set the pressure regulator valve to the maximum.

Next, turn your handle clockwise to hear a click. The top of the press should lift up and expose a flat surface. This will allow you slide the blade back-and-forth over the bowl. Continue to turn the handle counterclockwise, until the blades are closed.

Finally, remove the pressed garlic.

These are just a few of the many ways you can use this versatile tool.

  • Add minced garlic to soups, sauces, salads, and dips (or even as a seasoning)
  • To crush whole garlic cloves, use the press to create a buttery spread
  • Put whole garlic cloves on top of pizza dough, before you bake
  • Mix roasted garlic in mashed potatoes or creamy pasta.
  • Make pesto with garlic mashed in the press
  • Blend the garlic into a smooth vinegar dressing
