Frequently Asked Questions
What are the main Flavours of Thai Cooking?
Thai cuisine includes several distinct regional cuisines. These include Northern Thai food, Central Thai food, Southern Thai food, Eastern Thai food, Western Thai food, and Northeastern Thai. Each region is unique in its flavour profiles.
Thai food is known for its sweet, salty and sour flavors.
Thais appreciate sweetness. It makes Thai food taste better. Thai cuisine has a lot of sweet ingredients such as coconut milk and palm sugar (gula Melaka).
Sourness is also very popular in Thailand. Sour foods are often served alongside hot dishes. This combination balances out the heat.
Thai food includes spicy food. Thai cuisine uses a lot of spices, including galangal ginger root, chilli pepper, and garlic.
What are the 7 Indian spices you use?
Indian spices are a group of spices used in Indian food. These spices include cumin, cardamom and coriander as well as turmeric, fenugreek and ginger. They enhance flavour and aroma of dishes by blending with natural ingredients like meats and vegetables. These spices combine to create distinctive flavour profiles which are the hallmark of Indian cooking.
Cardamom has an earthy, sweet flavor with notes of ginger and citrus. It is used often to flavor curries and rice dishes such as biryani. Cumin is a spice with an earthy smell and a rich, nuanced flavour. It is used to spice up curries, dals and meat dishes. Coriander is sweet and citrusy, adding a hint of nuttiness to dishes. It is often used in seasoning vegetables and lentils.
Turmeric's earthy flavour is enhanced by mustard, spices, pepper hints, and other spices. This spice is used in many dishes, including curries. It has a golden colour. Fenugreek has an earthy aroma, a slight bitter flavor, and earthy tones. Fenugreek is used to season meat dishes such as kebabs or curries. Ginger is pungent and spicy with hints o citrus. It adds a spicy kick to dishes like soups and chutneys. Asafoetida is a spice that has strong flavors and a pungent smell.
These spices are a unique combination that creates Indian cuisine.
What is the difference between cooking Whole and Ground Spices? Ground Spices?
There are no significant differences in the cooking of whole and ground spices. All spices can be ground once they have been harvested. It doesn't make a difference in terms of quality.
However, this price differential is quite significant. Whole spices cost more because of the labour involved in processing them. But the flavour is worth it.
When you buy bulk spices, you may get additional discounts. You might get a discount if your entire bag is of cinnamon sticks.
The same applies to nutmeg and cloves, ginger or cardamom. You may be able save money if you buy these spices in bulk.
Whole spices also last longer than ground spices. Because ground spices lose potency quickly from oxidation, this is why whole spices last longer than ground spices.
The main reason we recommend whole spices over dried is that they can add lots of flavor to recipes.
You can make a delicious curry by using whole turmeric in place of ground turmeric. You can also use whole coriander to create a spice combination for chicken dishes.
The process of grinding spices takes a lot of time. It makes sense to purchase large quantities of whole spices when you are buying them. This will ensure that you don't run out of spices quickly.
What are the ten most loved spices?
Spices are used for flavouring foods and drinks. Some spices are more widespread than others. There are hundreds more varieties of spices. Let's examine the ten most famous spices and learn why they're so beloved.
Spice is essential in cooking because it adds flavour and aroma without adding calories. Many spices contain essential vitamins, minerals, and help to keep our bodies healthy.
Here is a list with the ten most loved spices.
- Cinnamon is a spice that improves digestion and lowers cholesterol. It can also help to prevent the flu.
- Garlic - This spice boosts immunity and fights infections. It can also help lower blood pressure by aiding digestion.
- Oregano – This spice increases energy levels and improves athletic performances. It is also good for memory and fighting infection.
- Black Pepper -This spice is full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It can also help reduce stress and heart disease.
- Basil -Basil contains vitamin K, calcium, and iron. It helps to fight cancer cells and improves metabolism.
- Salt and vinegar - These ingredients make for a delicious combination. Both vinegar as well as salt are highly effective against viruses.
- Cloves - Clove oil is a natural remedy for toothaches and sore throats. It also helps with muscle spasms.
- Ginger – Ginger has been shown during pregnancy to alleviate nausea and morning sickiness. It helps remove congestion from your sinuses.
- Curry Powder – Curries have existed since antiquity. They were originally made with coconut milk. However, we use other oils or ghee bases.
- Turmeric – This spice is one the oldest medicinal herbs.
So next time you want to add flavour to your meals, try using one of these ten popular spices instead of salt. You might be amazed by the results.
What are the 11 Indian spice blends?
Indian cuisine includes eleven spices, including cumin, coriander, cumin, mustard, fennel, and nigella seed, as well as black pepper, cloves and cinnamon sticks, dry red chill powder, turmeric, cardamom, and black pepper.
These ingredients can be found in almost all dishes. These spices lend a unique flavour to dishes such dal (lentils), curries chutneys pickles rice, bread and sweets.
For health reasons, spices are also beneficial. Turmeric, for example, is known to fight cancer cells. Bad breath is prevented by cloves. Black pepper lowers cholesterol. Cinnamon lowers blood pressure. And ginger aids digestion.
A spice rack is a fantastic kitchen tool that allows you experiment with different combinations. You have the option to make your own mixes of spices, or you can buy ready-made ones that include all the essential spices.
Some people choose not to add spice to their food. Some people believe spices can only mask the natural flavor of food and don't improve it. A pinch of salt or pepper will not harm your dishes.
Most chefs agree that spices are a vital part of culinary art. Many dishes would lack flavor and be boring without them. So next time you're feeling adventurous, why not try a new recipe and see what happens?

How To
Do You Know How to Make Curry Paste?
Curry paste is made from dried chillies, shallots and galangal root. It also contains lemongrass, galangal root (lemongrass), lemongrass, kaffir Lim leaf, garlic, shrimp paste and sugar. It's a common ingredient in Thai cuisine.
Curry paste is one the most loved condiments in Southeast Asia. It gives many dishes a unique taste, including curries, soups stir-fries, stir-fries and salads.
It is easy to make your own at-home recipes! Follow our step-by–step guide below.
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- Before you can start the recipe, it is important to have all the ingredients ready.
- Peel and chop shallots (about two cups). Cut galangal root in small pieces, about 3 inches long. Set aside.
- Next, slice four garlic cloves. Next, peel and mince the lemongrass stems (about 1/2-inch thick).
- After that, you will need to crush dried red chili peppers (about four tablespoons) before removing the seeds (optional).
- Next, slice the kaffir lime leaves in thin strips of about 5 inches. Next, remove the white part from the stem and leave it alone.
- Then drain the shrimp paste (6 ounces) and then coarsely mash it.
- Last, take out the salt and sugar.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Blend all ingredients until smooth
- The texture should be very similar to peanut butter.
- You can replace some oil with water if you wish to reduce the oil content of your dish.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Mix in coconut milk and stir well.
- Slowly add coconut milk to ensure that the paste doesn't become too sticky.
- If you prefer less spicy, add fewer chillies and more galangal root.
- You can make it more spicy by adding more chilies and less galangal root. The end result should be delicious.
Step4 -- Serve
- Serve with your favourite foods.
- Enjoy!
