But there are two sides to this coin. Organic produce takes longer and requires more resources. Organic food can be more expensive than its nonorganic counterpart.

Organic meats are typically higher priced than conventionally raised animals. But, you can reduce the cost of organic meats without compromising quality.

Buy locally to save money. Locally grown fruit and vegetables help lower the price of produce, as farmers are often given incentives to grow better crops.

A great way to save money is to search for deals. Organics often come with discounts.

You can also save money by eating less meat. Meat production can be costly due to the feed needed to raise livestock.

There are many reasons that organic food is better than regular food for our bodies, and also for the planet. However, it is important to remember the price.


What is organic food?

Organic food is produced without the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides. Inorganic foods contain these chemicals, which may cause health problems.

Organic food is grown naturally without harmful substances such as chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. These chemicals may cause damage to animals as well as humans.

For healthy eating, you don’t have to spend a lot. Sometimes, you have to use your creativity to save money while still eating well. Here are my suggestions for ways to cut food costs while still enjoying the benefits of organic meat.

  1. Wholesale clubs - Sams Club and Costco are great places for bulk food like chicken breasts or pork chops. These stores often offer discounts on large quantities of meat, up to 50 pounds, if you are lucky enough to be near one. This ensures that meat is not wasted. And if you buy it in bulk, you can freeze it, so it lasts longer.
  2. Shop around online - Tons of websites sell meat at discounted prices. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35. They offer discounts for beef roasts and ground beef as well as lamb steaks, lamb steaks, pork loins, and other items. You can easily browse their website to see what is available at different times.
  3. Local farmers often charge less than big box retailers due to the fact that they don't have large overheads for stocking their shelves. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
  4. Choose lean cuts of meat - It is usually cheaper to cook lean meat than fatty. So, look for the leanest cuts. The most popular cuts are flank steak, sirloin steak and tenderloin roast. These cuts are very low-fat and high in proteins.
