Frequently Asked Questions
Organic meat is better
This question is probably answered if you've been paying close attention. But here's the rub, organic food is becoming more popular while conventional food continues to fall out of favour.
The reason why organic foods continue to rise in popularity is that they are healthier for us. Organic products are healthier for us and the environment.
However, this coin has two sides. Organic produce takes longer and requires more resources. Organic food is generally more expensive than nonorganic.
Organic meats can be more expensive that those from conventionally raised animals. But, you can reduce the cost of organic meats without compromising quality.
Buy locally to save money. Buy locally grown vegetables and fruits to help keep prices low. Farmers receive incentives to grow healthier crops.
Deals are another way to cut costs. Organics often come with discounts.
Finally, another way to save money is by eating less meat. Feeding livestock can be very expensive.
There are many reasons that organic food is better than regular food for our bodies, and also for the planet. However, it is important to remember the price.
What is the difference between organic and inorganic foods?
Organic food does not contain pesticides, chemical fertilisers, sewage waste, irradiation, genetic modification. Organic farming practices promote soil health, water quality and animal welfare.
Inorganic foods are produced using chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and sewage effluent. Radiated foods can be treated with radiation. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are created by biological engineering techniques.
The term "natural", often used interchangeably to mean "organic," is frequently used. Natural does not always mean organic. Some products labeled "natural" may also contain synthetic ingredients.
Organic produce is usually more nutritious that conventional produce. This is because organic soil contains fewer toxic chemicals and pesticides. Organic farmers don't use any artificial fertilizers, hormones or antibiotics.
What is inorganic foods?
Organic food is grown without pesticides and artificial fertilizers. These chemicals may be harmful to your health and can also be found in non-organic foods.
Organic food is produced naturally and without any harmful substances, such as chemical fertilizers or pesticides. These chemicals can be harmful to both animals and people.
Inorganic food can include meat, fish eggs, buttermilk cheese, buttermilk, yogurt, honey grains, vegetables, fruits spices, and herbs.
Organic refers specifically to the method an agricultural product has been grown. Organic farming uses natural methods to grow crops. Conventional farming uses pesticides and synthetic fertilizers.
U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines must be followed when organic food is labeled. According to the National Organic Program Standards all organic food must be free of banned materials such as antibiotics growth hormones genetically modified organisms GMOs, and industrial solvents. Organic food must not contain toxic chemicals, petroleum-based fertilizers or sewage sludges.
What should I be looking out for when shopping organic products
USDA-certified organic labels are recommended. This certifies that the product has met certain standards set by USDA. Look out for the USDA Organic seal on boxes, cartons cans and jars.
When buying meat, make sure it is from organically fed cows. Cattle are ruminants, which means they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle are divided into four stomach compartments, the rumen and reticulum as well as the omasum and abmasum. Organic feeding must be done on all organs of the animal in order to get the cow labelled organic 100 percent.
You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Omnivore chickens eat both animals and plants. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.
You should ensure you only buy dairy products made from milk that has been produced by cows who have been fed 100% organically grown food. Like ruminants, dairy cattle have four stomachs. Milk comes from the fourth stomach compartment--the udder.
Check the label when purchasing livestock of any other type to find out what percentage was used in the animal's diet. One example is pork that may be labeled '95% Organic'. This means that 95 percent came from organic sources.
How can I tell if my produce has been certified organic?
These are the labels you should look for to ensure you are purchasing organic produce
USDA Organic Certified- This product has been certified organic by the USDA.
Certified Naturally Grown - Produce that has passed strict requirements for organic practices but has not yet received certification from the USDA.
Pastured/Free Range – Produced from animals that live outdoors and graze on grasses or herbs.
These labels signify that the product meets a specific set of criteria.
- There are no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers
- No genetically modified organisms
- Animals are never given antibiotics
- Animals are never given hormones.
- No growth-promoting medications
- No feed additives
- No artificial ingredients
- No irradiation
- There's no sewage waste sludge
- GMOs are not allowed
- Never gave antibiotics
- No hormones ever given
- No growth-promoting drugs
- No feed-additives
- No artificial ingredients
- No sewage waste (if it's non-GMO).
- No irradiation

Why should I go organic?
Conventional agriculture has been linked with many health problems including asthma, allergies. You must make healthy choices when buying food.
Here are some tips from the Environmental Working Group (EWG).
Always purchase organic fruits, vegetables and other products whenever possible.
USDA organic labels should be used on meat, poultry and eggs as well as milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, honey, and other dairy products.
Avoid processed foods labelled "natural"/ "no additives."
Check ingredient lists carefully. If an ingredient isn’t listed, it might be added during processing.
Fresh meats are better than canned or frozen. Foods that are frozen or canned often have less nutritionally-rich ingredients, such as high fructosecorn syrup.
Is organic food healthier?
There are two types. One is those that we grow ourselves, and the other is those that we buy from someone else. Of course, there are exceptions to both categories, but for the most part, the answer to your question is yes. Organic food is healthier than conventional food because it doesn’t contain harmful chemicals, pesticides or herbicides. It also doesn’t contain preservatives or genetically modified organisms.
There are many supermarkets that sell organic food across North America and Europe. Organic food is now available in most grocery stores, making it easier to find organic foods.
Organic food is also better tasting and more nutritious because it contains higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Organics are often grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. This means that they do not pollute the soil and water sources.
Organic farming is regulated by the USDA. Farmers must follow strict guidelines to ensure safe eating. There are more than 30 million acres of US farmland that have been certified organic.
Organic food is often more affordable than conventional food. Customers pay less for the same amount in calories, protein and nutrients. Organic farms are able to charge lower prices for their crops because they don't have to purchase expensive chemical inputs like insecticides and fungicides.
According to Environmental Working Group, organic food can be 10 percent cheaper per pound when compared to conventionally produced food. Consider switching to organic foods if you are concerned about your health and the well-being of your family.
Organic food is becoming a popular option to the standard American diet. It is often believed that organic food is exclusive to specialty markets and gourmet restaurants. Organic food can be purchased in most grocery stores across the United States.
Organic food sales have increased significantly in recent years. In 2012, the US market value for organic food was $43 Billion. This is an increase of $21 Billion from 2007.

How To
How to save money on organic meat
In this post, I'll share tips and tricks on buying organic meat without breaking your bank account.
I'll give you some tips about where to find organic meats at a low price and how much it costs per pound. You will be able to make the most of what you have purchased.
Healthy eating doesn't require you to spend a lot. Sometimes creativity is required to make money while still eating healthy. Here's my list to help you keep food costs low while still enjoying all the health benefits of organic meat.
- Buy bulk food at wholesale clubs. Sams Club and Costco both offer great options for buying bulk foods like pork chops and chicken breasts. You may be able to get large quantities of meat for as low as 50 pounds if your home is near one of these stores. You won't have to waste meat. Also, if you buy in bulk, it can be frozen so it lasts for longer.
- Shop around online - Tons of websites sell meat at discounted prices. For example, Amazon has a weekly deal called Prime Pantry, which includes free shipping on orders over $35. There are also discounts on lamb steaks (lamb steaks), ground beef, pork loins, and beef roasts. It's easy to browse their website and see what's available at different times.
- Find a local farmer - Local farmers usually charge less than big box retailers because they do not pay considerable fees to stock their shelves. They know exactly what the animals ate and drank to ensure they are fully informed about what is in their bodies.
- Look out for cuts that are the leanest. It's generally less expensive to cook lean meat than fatty. Therefore, choose the leanest cuts. The most commonly used cuts include flank steak, tenderloin and top round steaks. These cuts are low in fat and high-protein.
- Try new recipes. It's possible to reduce grocery expenses by cooking new recipes using ingredients you've never tried before. You'll be surprised at how many delicious dishes can you create using fresh tomatoes.
- Make your leftovers creative - You can make sandwiches, soups, casseroles, and other dishes with leftover meat or poultry. For quick lunches, leftover meat can be used to make dinners.
So there you go! Here are some tips on how you can afford organic meat despite being on a strict budget. Are there any other tips you can share? Are you able to give me any tips on how to get cheap meat?
