Frequently Asked Questions
What's the importance of spices in your life?
Spices are seasonings that enhance the flavour of food. Spices can come in many forms: powders or liquids, oils, pastes or seeds, as well as liquids and gums. They can also be called condiments or flavours.
A great way to spice up your meals is to add some variety. You can spice up dishes with many different spices for more flavor and excitement.
You may find that adding a few drops of hot pepper sauce to a bowl of soup will make it taste more delicious. Or perhaps you could mix a handful of cayenne peppers with a cup of rice.
Fresh ingredients are the best way to try new spicing techniques. Buy organic dried herbs. Fresh herbs last longer than dried.
While some spices are essential for cooking, others might be better to avoid. Cinnamon sticks have high levels of coumarin. They should not be consumed if you have had liver disease in the past. Ginger also has coumarin, although it's less concentrated. It is safe for people without a history or liver disease.
What is the difference between curried curry and curried curry?
There is no difference between the spellings. Both words are used to describe the same thing: Indian dishes that combine meat or vegetables with various seasonings.
Curry is derived from the Hindi word kari, which means "to rub". This refers to the way the spice mixture is applied to the food. Curry foods are usually cooked until golden brown.
Although curried dishes used to be reserved for special occasions, today they are enjoyed all over India. You can choose from chicken, beef, lamb or fish as well as vegetables and rice.
Curried dishes are typically served alongside plain white rice. A raita (a yogurt-based sauce) or a chutney is another common accompaniment.
Can you add spice into a drink
I love how spices bring flavour to food. How do you make spices alive in drinks?
Spices are wonderful because they can add depth and flavor to any beverage. A dash of cinnamon and nutmeg can make any beverage more delicious, including coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and cocktails.
Most recipes call for ground spices. This means that you'll need fresh whole spice. While this makes sense, it is costly, takes time and requires storage space.
Here's where the magic happens. It's possible to transform your favorite spices into a powdered form that is easy to use with a bit of creativity. Mix them with your favorite drinks to make delicious spiced beverages.
There are two possible ways to create these powders. A second method is to grind whole spices into fine powder. Another method is to use a mortar & pestle to grind the spices until they are finely ground.
Whatever method you choose to use, you will find that powders are much easier than whole spices. Powder also keeps well so you won't run dry.
Mixing different spices can create new flavors. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.
Once you are proficient in making powdered spice, you can also apply this technique to herbs. Some of the most common herbs are basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano and sage.
There are many options. Powdered spices can enhance the flavor and texture of beverages, such as soups or salads, as well as the taste of pasta.
What's the Difference Between Cooking With Whole vs. Ground Spices?
There are no significant differences in the cooking of whole and ground spices. All spices are ground after harvesting. This ensures that there are no differences in the quality of spices.
However, the price difference is substantial. Whole spices can be more expensive due to the labor involved in their processing. But the taste is worth it.
Bulk purchases of whole spices can often get you additional discounts. If you buy a whole bag of cinnamon sticks, you may get a discount.
The same applies to nutmeg and cloves, ginger or cardamom. You may be able save money if you buy these spices in bulk.
Whole spices also last longer than ground spices. Ground spices lose their potency very quickly due to oxidation.
The main reason we recommend whole spices over dried is that they can add lots of flavor to recipes.
A delicious curry can be made with whole turmeric as opposed to ground turmeric. You can also grind whole coriander leaves to make a spice mix for chicken dishes.
It takes time to grind spices. A large amount of whole spices is a good idea. That way, you won't run out of spices too fast.
Is Thai cooking made with garlic?
Thai cuisine often uses garlic. Garlic is often added to dishes such as salads, soups, stir-fries, curries, sauces, and rice.
In Thailand, garlic can be chopped and fried along with ginger and shallots. In addition, it is commonly eaten with sticky rice.
The most common way to eat garlic is to chop it finely and mix it with chilli paste, salt, fish sauce, lime juice, and oil. This mixture is called "Nam Phrik" (namphrik). Nam phrik is often accompanied by grilled chicken or beef.
Which are the best Thai spice?
Galangal, galangal, coriander, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and clove are the best Thai herbs. Some other good spices include cayenne pepper, clove, cardamom, black peppercorn, fennel seeds, star anise, and cloves.
Rose petals, bay, pandan leaves (curry leaves), curry leaves; pandan leaves; kaffir lime leaf leaves; vanilla beans; tamarind pods; lemon grass, basil, and mine are some other valuable spices.

How To
Do You Know How To Make Curry Paste?
Curry paste is made from dried chillies, shallots and galangal root. It also contains lemongrass, galangal root (lemongrass), lemongrass, kaffir Lim leaf, garlic, shrimp paste and sugar. It's a common ingredient in Thai cuisine.
Curry paste is a very popular condiment in Southeast Asia. This unique flavor can be added to many dishes including curries, soups and stir-fries as well as rice dishes, noodles, desserts, and rice dishes.
It's not difficult to make at home! Follow our step-bystep guide below.
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- Before you start this recipe, make sure that all ingredients are prepared.
- Start by peeling and chopping shallots (about 2 cups). Next, cut galangal root into small chunks (about 3 inches) and put aside.
- Next, cut four garlic cloves into pieces. Finely chop the lemongrass stems to about 1/2 inch in thickness.
- After that, you will need to crush dried red chili peppers (about four tablespoons) before removing the seeds (optional).
- Next, cut the kaffir-lime leaves into thin strips (5 inches). Take out the white part and place it in a bowl.
- After that, wash and drain shrimp paste (about 6 ounces), then coarsely mash it.
- Finally, measure the sugar and salt.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Mix all ingredients until well combined.
- The texture should be similar to that of peanut butter.
- Note: if you want to reduce the amount of oil in the dish, you can substitute some water for some of the oil.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Mix the coconut milk into the mixture.
- Slowly add coconut milk to ensure that the paste doesn't become too sticky.
- You can reduce the amount of chillies and increase the quantity of galangal root if you prefer it less spicy.
- You may prefer it hotter, so add more chilies or less galangalroot. You should enjoy the final product.
Step4 -- Serve
- Top with your favorite food.
- Enjoy!
