Frequently Asked Questions
What is organic meat exactly?
Organic meat is organic food that has been grown naturally without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers or hormones. This also means that animals weren't given any genetically modified feed. This makes it safe for human consumption because there aren't any harmful chemicals in the meat.
Organic meats are better for the environment. Eating organic foods helps reduce pollution in the environment, such as rivers and lakes. We can also help wildlife by eating organic foods. Organic farmers do not often use toxic chemicals that can kill birds or insects.
You can eat organic meats and produce whenever you can. Local purchasing helps keep money local, not out of the state. Local businesses often pass on savings to customers shopping locally. Shopping locally keeps American jobs in America, rather than sending them abroad.
How can I determine if my produce was organic?
If you want to make sure that you are buying organic produce, look for these three labels:
USDA Organic Certified - Produce certified by the USDA as being 100% organic.
Certified Naturally Grown - Produce that has passed strict requirements for organic practices but has not yet received certification from the USDA.
Pastured/Free Range - Produce from animals who live outdoors and graze freely on grass and herbs.
These labels are used to indicate that the product meets specified criteria.
- No pesticides or synthetic fertilizers
- No genetically altered organisms
- No antibiotics are ever given to the animal
- Animals are never given hormones.
- No growth-promoting medications
- No feed additives
- No artificial ingredients
- No irradiation
- There is no sewage sludge
- GMOs banned
- No antibiotics ever given
- No hormones ever given
- No growth-promoting medications
- No feed-additives
- No artificial ingredients
- No sewage effluent (if it isn't a GMO).
- No irradiation

Why should I go organic?
Conventional agriculture has been linked to several health problems, including asthma, allergies, obesity, diabetes, cancer, birth defects, hormone imbalances, and other diseases. It is important to make informed choices about food purchases.
Here are some tips from the Environmental Working Group (EWG).
Always purchase organic fruits, vegetables and other products whenever possible.
USDA organic labels should be used on meat, poultry and eggs as well as milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, honey, and other dairy products.
Avoid processed foods labeled as "natural" or "no additives."
Be sure to read all ingredient labels. If an ingredient is not listed, it can be added during processing.
It is better to eat fresh meats than canned or frozen. Frozen and canned foods often contain less nutrient-rich ingredients like high fructose corn syrup.
Is organic produce healthy?
There are two types. Those we grow or those we get from someone else. Of course, there are exceptions to both categories, but for the most part, the answer to your question is yes. Organic food is safer because it does not contain any harmful chemicals.
There are many supermarkets that sell organic food across North America and Europe. Most grocery stores now carry organic food, making it easier for consumers to choose organic products.
Organic food is healthier and tastes better because it contains more vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients. In addition, organics are usually grown without applying synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, which means they do not pollute our soil and water supply.
The USDA regulates organic agriculture practices. This means that farmers must adhere to strict guidelines to make sure organic produce is safe to consume. There are currently more than 30,000,000 acres of US farmland which have been designated organic.
As an added benefit, organic food is often much cheaper than conventional food. Customers pay less for the same amount in calories, protein and nutrients. Organic farms don't have the expense of expensive chemical inputs, such as insecticides and/or fungicides. They can charge lower prices.
According to the Environmental Working Group organic food is 10 percent cheaper per pound than conventionally manufactured food. You can make a change to organic food if your family is concerned about their health.
Organic food has become an increasingly popular alternative to American standard diets. Many people believe that organic food can only be found in specialty markets or gourmet restaurants. This is false. Organic food can be purchased in most grocery stores across the United States.
Organic food sales have increased significantly in recent years. The US market value of organic foods was $43Billion in 2012, up from $21B in 2007.

How To
What you need to know about organic foods
Organic foods are those that come from plants or animals, and do not contain any chemical pesticides, fertilizers, or additives. They can be produced without the use of genetic engineering or ionizing radiation. It must not contain any artificial colours, flavour enhancers, flavor enhancers, and preservatives. It cannot contain genetically modified organisms.
In 1845, Justus Von Liebig, an aspiring chemist and entrepreneur, created the term "organic" to describe the properties found in manure. Most people associate organic production with food. Organic simply means the product is made from only naturally occurring substances such proteins, carbohydrate, and minerals.
In the past decades, the consumption of organic products has grown dramatically worldwide. Recent statistics show that around half of the world's population consumes at most one organic product per day. This number is rising and is expected increase to 70%, 90%, and 80% by 2020.
There are many reasons that organic products are chosen by consumers. Some consumers prefer organic products for the taste. Other people prefer them because organic produce is more nutritious. Still others believe organic farming is better for the environment. Some consumers choose non-organic products because of ethical concerns about farm workers' and animal treatment.
Organic foods are usually more expensive than conventional ones, although prices vary depending on countries and regions. Organic food prices are affected by many factors. The availability of suitable land for organic agriculture is one factor. Another is the cost for inputs and labour required to grow organic crops. Transportation costs, marketing expenses, and taxes are all factors. The average European price for organic food is 10% lower than the regular price.
