A almond meal is a versatile almond flour alternative that can be used to bake, cook, or even make nut-free dishes.

Almond flour could also contain gluten making it difficult for some people to digest. It is important to avoid gluten-free products if you have celiac or other digestive disorders.

Almond flour may not be considered a "superfood", per se, but it contains healthy fats as well as fibre, protein and vitamin E.

I love the way spices add flavour to food. How do you make spices alive in drinks?

Spices are wonderful because they can add depth and flavor to any beverage. There's nothing better than adding cinnamon or nutmeg in your glass of wine or beer, whether it's coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or cocktails.

But most recipes call for ground spices, meaning you'll need fresh whole spices. While this makes sense, it is costly, takes time and requires storage space.

This is where magic happens. With a little creativity, you can make your favorite spices easy to use in powdered form. Then you can mix them into your favourite beverages to create delicious spiced drinks.

There are two ways to go about creating these powders. The first involves the grinding of whole spices to make fine powder. One method involves using a mortar-and-pestle to grind spices into a finer consistency.

No matter which method you use, the powder will be much easier to measure and store than whole spices. You won't run short of powder, and it keeps well.

Mixing different spices can create new flavors. Peppermint and spearmint can be combined to make minty water. For spicy ginger tea, use ginger and cardamom capsules.

Once you've learned how to make powdered spices from scratch, you can apply the same process to herbs. Some of the most common herbs are basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano and sage.

There are many options. Powdered spices are a great way to make your drinks more flavorful or to enhance dishes like soups and salads.

How to store cooking spice?

How to store cooking spices in a way that maximizes their performance. First, let's understand how foods are stored.

Keep spices out of direct sunlight as light will reduce their flavor. This is due to oxygen combining with organic compounds, such as spices.

To prevent oxidation, spices should be stored in dark cupboards. Spices will lose their flavour quickly if the conditions aren’t met.

You can preserve the flavor of spices by keeping them in sealed jars, away from direct sunlight.

To make flavoured drinks, you can add herbs or spices to water. Mix two teaspoons of ground cinnamon and 1/2 cup warm water. Stir well. Add a squeeze or lemon juice to the mixture and serve immediately.

Dried herbs can be added to soups stews, casseroles pasta dishes rice dishes salads and desserts. Spread the spice mixture evenly onto the dish. Allow it to sit for between 5-10 minutes before serving.

Remaining cooked vegetables, fruit and meats can be used in your favorite recipes to make snacks.

For the best flavor of fresh herbs, you can chop them up or tear them apart and then add them to your favorite foods. It is also possible to freeze herbs and spices in muffin cups or ice cube trays. Once frozen, place them in freezer bags or zip-top bags.
