Almond Flour or Almond Meal? What is the difference?
Almond meal can be substituted for almond flour and is versatile enough to be used in baking, cooking and even making nut-free meals.
Almond flour may also contain gluten, making it difficult to digest. It is important to avoid gluten-free products if you have celiac or other digestive disorders.
Although almond flour isn’t considered to be a “superfood”, it is rich in healthy fats and fibre.
The nutritional benefits of almond meal include magnesium and copper, iron and zinc, manganese as well as potassium and vitamin C.
Almond flour is made with almonds. Almond oils contain polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. Both types reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase HDL ("good") cholesterol.
Almond flour also contains antioxidants like phenolics and flavonoids. These compounds protect against oxidative damage caused by free radicals.
A study published by the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry revealed that almond flour had an antioxidant activity equal to that of blueberries.

Can you add spice into a drink
I love the way spices add flavour to food. But how do you make spices liven up when they are added to drinks?
Spices add a wonderful depth to any beverage. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to your favorite beverage, such as coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
Most recipes call for ground spices. This means that you'll need fresh whole spice. This makes sense, but it is expensive, takes time, and requires storage space.
Here's where the magic happens. With your creativity, you can turn your favorite spices into easy-to-use powdered products. You can then mix the spices into your favorite beverages to make delicious spiced drinks.
Two ways can you make powders. The first involves the grinding of whole spices to make fine powder. Another method is to use a mortar & pestle to grind the spices until they are finely ground.
No matter which method you use, the powder will be much easier to measure and store than whole spices. You won't run short of powder, and it keeps well.
Mixing different spices can create new flavors. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.
Once you've mastered making powdered spices, you can apply the same technique to herbs. Some of the most common herbs are basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano and sage.
The possibilities are endless. Powdered spices are a great way to make your drinks more flavorful or to enhance dishes like soups and salads.
What is the difference between curry and curried?
It doesn't matter how the spelling is written. Both words are used to describe the same thing: Indian dishes that combine meat or vegetables with various seasonings.
Curry comes from the Hindi word kari meaning "to rub." This term refers to how the spice mixture is rubbed onto the food. Curried foods are generally cooked until they become golden.
Curried dishes weren't always reserved for special occasions. Today, they can be enjoyed throughout India. They include chicken, beef and lamb as well as fish, vegetables and rice.
Plain white rice is often served with curried dishes. A raita (a yogurt-based sauce) or a chutney is another common accompaniment.
What is Thai spice used for?
We all have heard the term Thai spices, but we don't understand what it really means. But when we discover our mouths water, we wonder why we haven't been eating more of it.
But it isn't just any old spice. It's an ingredient that can add flavor and depth in dishes that otherwise would be bland.
Although there are many recipes that call for Thai spices in large numbers, very few recipes actually use the true thing. Let's talk about how to make sure you add these amazing flavors to your meals.
Thais have been using spices and herbs to flavor food and drinks since ancient times. Thai is the Sanskrit word that means "to cook".
Most Thais like spicy food, even today. This preference is often attributed to the hot weather in Thailand, which makes it difficult to keep warm without something hot to drink. Thais also consume more chili peppers that Americans or Europeans.
You can learn the most about Thai spices by visiting a local Asian grocery. There will be a large selection of ingredients available including dried chilies (fresh basil leaves), curry paste, ground black pepper, and curry paste.
You may also find whole peppercorns.
Thai cuisine can use either dry or wet spices. Dry spices are usually ground, while wet ones are crushed or pounded finely.
Dry spices are typically added directly to a dish. A good example is chicken soup with ground red pepper. In order to make a paste out of wet spices, oil or butter is often used.
Wet spices are often used in sauces, marinades, and dressings. Some common wet spices include fish sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, curry paste, and hoisin sauce.
Thai recipes can be prepared at home by knowing which spices pair well with what ingredients.
For example, if you are using beef, you should use red pepper flakes. White pepper is better for seafood such as shrimp.
