Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between cooking whole and with ground spices? Ground Spices?
There are no differences between cooking with whole spices or ground spices. After harvesting, spices are ground. There is no quality difference.
However, this price differential is quite significant. Whole spices are more expensive due to the labour required for processing them. But the flavour is worth it.
You'll often find extra discounts for bulk purchases when you buy whole spices. An example: If you buy an entire bag full of cinnamon sticks, you might get a discount.
The same is true for nutmeg cloves ginger, cardamom, and ginger. These spices can be purchased in bulk to save money.
Whole spices also last longer than ground spices. This is because ground spices lose their potency quickly due to oxidation.
But the main reason why we recommend purchasing whole spices is that they add a lot of character to recipes.
You can make a delicious curry by using whole turmeric in place of ground turmeric. Or you can grind whole coriander seeds to create a spice blend for chicken dishes.
Grinding spices takes time. It makes sense to purchase large quantities of whole spices when you are buying them. You won't run low on spices if you buy large quantities.
What are the ten best-loved spices?
Spices can be used to flavor foods and beverages. Some spices are more well-known than others. But there are hundreds of varieties of spices out there. Let's now take a look at some of the most well-known spices to find out why they are so beloved.
Because spices add flavour and aroma to food, they are essential for cooking. Many spices contain essential vitamins, minerals, and help to keep our bodies healthy.
Here's a list of the ten most popular spices.
- Cinnamon - This spice is known to improve digestion and lower cholesterol levels. It can also help to prevent the flu.
- Garlic - This spice is known to boost immunity and fight infections. It aids in digestion and lowers blood pressure.
- Oregano-This spice can boost energy and increase athletic performance. It is also good for memory and fighting infection.
- Black pepper - This spice is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to reduce stress and heart diseases.
- Basil-Basil is rich in vitamin K, calcium and iron. It is also known to boost metabolism and fight cancer cells.
- Vinegar and Salt - These two ingredients create a delicious mixture. Both vinegar as well as salt are highly effective against viruses.
- Cloves – Clove oil can be used to treat sore throats and toothaches. It helps to ease muscle spasms.
- Ginger - Ginger has been found to relieve morning sickness and nausea during pregnancy. It clears congestion and helps to relieve headaches.
- Curry Powder – Curries date back to ancient times. They were made initially with coconut milk. But, today we use different oils and ghee bases.
- Turmeric - This spice is one of the oldest medicinal herbs.
So next time you want to add flavour to your meals, try using one of these ten popular spices instead of salt. You may be amazed at the results!
What spices can be used in Thai cooking
Thai cuisine is known for its complex flavour combinations. These unique flavours are created with flavorful spices, which result in delicious dishes.
Common ingredients used in Thai cooking include lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, chillies, garlic, shrimp paste, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and more.
Each spice adds to Thai cuisine's distinct flavour profile. Lemongrass is often used in soups, curries, and stews; galangal adds a slight peppery note to dishes; kaffir lime leaves impart a citrusy aroma; chillies provide a spicy kick; garlic adds a sharp and pungent flavour to dishes; shrimp paste adds an umami depth to food; coriander has a mild, yet fragrant aroma; cumin brings a smoky note to dishes; and turmeric gives food a vibrant yellow hue.
These spices work together to create unique flavour profiles for Thai cuisine. Mixing spices together can make dishes both tasty and aromatic. If you're looking to bring the flavours of Thailand into your kitchen, be sure to stock up on these spices!
Does Thai use ginger?
The answer is yes. Ginger is used extensively in traditional Thai cooking. Ginger is often used in stir-fries and soups, as well as desserts and drinks, such as lassis.
Ginger is an indigenous plant of China, Japan and Korea. Its roots date back more that 5,000 years. It is believed to have originated in Southeast Asia, where it was cultivated for medicinal purposes.
Ginger has been shown to reduce nausea and stimulate digestion. It may even help prevent migraines. Ginger is also known to reduce muscle spasms and joint pains as well as treating arthritis.
Ginger is most commonly used fresh in Thailand. It is then cut into thin strips and dried. Asian markets sell ginger root in cans and cans.
What is the most recognizable ingredient in Thai food?
Two main ingredients are the heart of Thai cuisine: curry and rice. These two elements combine to create a memorable flavor.
Combining these two basic foods into one dish is known as "Khaopad Krai" in Thailand.
The same applies to life. Combining hard work and perseverance can lead to great success.
Like Khao Pad Krai, you can also succeed by combining the right ingredients: passion and purpose. If you put them together, you'll produce something extraordinary.
Remember that Thai food doesn't just require rice and curry. Next time you feel the urge to eat Thai food, think about how much more it can be than just rice. Try experimenting with other ingredients and see how much fun it can be!

How To
How to cut Shiitake Mushrooms
So, the shiitakes are growing well. They are fine. But how do we cut them without cutting ourselves? We have tried every method, including using scissors. But they keep falling out our hands. Is there something wrong?
Well, there's a trick for that. Put a rubber band around your mushroom stem and twist it tight. By doing this, you won’t slip and get cut.
This may seem too simple. It is. But it's also very powerful.
The rubber band makes your stem slippery and it feels very natural when you pick it it up. Plus, it doesn't hurt to hold the stem tightly.
Now, go ahead and try it. You'll be amazed how easy it is to cut mushrooms.
