What's the difference in cooking with whole vs. ground spices? Ground Spices?

There is no difference in cooking with whole spices and cooked with ground spices. All spices are ground after harvesting. There is no quality difference.

However, the price difference is substantial. Whole spices cost more because of the labour involved in processing them. However, the flavor is worth it.

When you buy bulk spices, you may get additional discounts. For example, you might receive a discount if you buy an entire bag of cinnamon sticks.

The same goes for nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc. If you purchase these spices in bulk, you may be able to save money.

Whole spices can also last longer than the ground spices. Ground spices lose their potency rapidly due to oxygenation.

However, the main reason we recommend whole spices is because they add character to recipes.

For instance, you can make a delicious curry with whole turmeric instead of ground turmeric. You can also grind whole coriander leaves to make a spice mix for chicken dishes.

Also, grinding spices takes time. If you're buying whole spices it makes sense for you to buy large quantities. You won't run low on spices if you buy large quantities.


What kind of mint is used to make Thai food?

Lime-leaf mint (Mentha cervina) is the most commonly used type of mint in Thai cuisine.

It has a mild, citrusy flavour that gives dishes a freshness and zing. To enhance Thai cuisine's flavour, other spices like galangal, coriander, lemongrass and garlic are often added.

Mint is a versatile herb that can be used in both sweet as well as savoury meals. It is crucial to use authentic Thai flavors by using the right spices, herbs, aromatics.

For extra flavor, make sure to add lime-leaf mint next time you prepare a Thai meal!

What's the difference of curry and curried

There is no difference in spelling. Both words mean the same thing: Indian cuisine that includes meat and vegetables mixed with different seasonings.

Curry is derived from the Hindi word kari, which means "to rub". This refers to the way the spice mixture is applied to the food. Curried foods are typically cooked until browned.

Although curried dishes used to be reserved for special occasions, today they are enjoyed all over India. They can be made with chicken, beef or lamb and include vegetables as well.

Plain white rice is commonly served with curried meals. You can also add raita (a yogurt sauce), or chutney (a sweet relish).

How To

Do You Know How To Make Curry Paste?

Curry paste is made from dried chillies, shallots and galangal root. It also contains lemongrass, galangal root (lemongrass), lemongrass, kaffir Lim leaf, garlic, shrimp paste and sugar. It's used extensively in Thai cuisine.

Curry paste is one the most loved condiments in Southeast Asia. It gives many dishes a unique taste, including curries, soups stir-fries, stir-fries and salads.

It is easy to make your own at-home recipes! Just follow our step-by-step guide below:

Step1 - Prepare Ingredients

  • Before starting the recipe, you will need to prepare all ingredients.
  • Peel and chop shallots (about two cups). Next, cut galangal root into small chunks (about 3 inches) and put aside.
  • Next, you will need to peel and slice the garlic cloves (about 4 cloves). Lemongrass stems about 1/2 inch thick should be removed and finely chopped.
  • Crush the red chilli peppers with about four tablespoons of water and remove the seeds.
  • Next, cut the kaffir-lime leaves into thin strips (5 inches). Next, remove the white part from the stem and leave it alone.
  • Then drain the shrimp paste (6 ounces) and then coarsely mash it.
  • Finally, measure the sugar and salt.

Step2 - Grind Ingredients

  • Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
  • The texture should look similar to peanut-butter.
  • If you would like to reduce the amount oil in your dish, you could substitute water for some of it.

Step3 - Add Coconut Milk

  • Add coconut milk to the mixture, and mix well.
  • To prevent the coconut milk from becoming too sticky, slowly add it.
  • You can reduce the amount of chillies and increase the quantity of galangal root if you prefer it less spicy.
  • If you prefer it spicy, add more chillies or less galangal roots. The final result should taste good to you.

Step4 - Serve

  • Serve on top of your favourite foods.
  • Enjoy!
