Frequently Asked Questions

Is Thai cooking made with garlic?

Thai cuisine makes use of garlic. Garlic is often used to make Thai dishes, including salads and soups, stir-fries and curries, as well as sauces and sauces.

In Thailand, garlic is chopped and fried with shallots, ginger, and spices. You can also eat it with sticky rice.

It is common to mince garlic and then mix it with chili paste, salt, fish sauce and lime juice. This mixture is called "Nam Phrik" (namphrik). Nam phrik often comes with grilled chicken breast or beef.

Can you add spice to a beverage?

It's amazing how spices can add flavour and flavor to food. How can you make spices come to life when they are used in drinks?

Spices are excellent because they add incredible depth to any beverage. There's nothing better than adding cinnamon or nutmeg in your glass of wine or beer, whether it's coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or cocktails.

But most recipes call for ground spices, meaning you'll need fresh whole spices. Although this is logical, it can be costly, time-consuming, and takes up storage space.

This is where the magic happens. With your creativity, you can turn your favorite spices into easy-to-use powdered products. To make tasty spiced drinks, you can combine them with your favourite beverages.

There are two methods to make these powders. One method involves grinding whole spices into fine powder. Another uses a mortar and pestle to grind the spices into a finer consistency.

You'll find it easier to make powder than whole spices, regardless of the method. Powder keeps well, so you will never run out.

Mixing spices can be fun to create new flavors. You could make minty water by combining spearmint and peppermint. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.

Once you have mastered the art of making powdered spices you can use that same technique for herbs. Some popular herbs include basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, and sage.

There are so many possibilities. Use powdered spices to give your beverages extra flavour or to enhance the taste of dishes such as soups, salads, and pasta.

What are the 11 spices of Indian cooking?

Indian cuisine is made up of eleven spices: coriander seeds; cumin seeds; fennel and mustard seeds; nigella and black pepper; cloves, cinnamon sticks; dry red chili powder; turmeric and cardamom.

These spices are found in nearly every dish. These spices impart a distinct flavor to dishes such as curries (lentils), curries and chutneys. They also add a unique taste to rice, bread, and sweets.

Health benefits can also be attained from spices. Turmeric, for example, is known to fight cancer cells. Bad breath is prevented by cloves. Black pepper decreases cholesterol. Cinnamon lowers blood pressure. And ginger aids digestion.

A spice rack is a fantastic kitchen tool that allows you experiment with different combinations. You can make your spice mix or buy ready-made blends that contain many of the essential spices.

Some people do not like to add spices to their food. These people believe spices are a masking agent and do not enhance natural flavors. However, it is possible to enhance the taste of your meals by adding a little salt or pepper.

Most chefs agree that spices are a vital part of culinary art. Many dishes would lack flavor and be boring without them. So next time you're feeling adventurous, why not try a new recipe and see what happens?

Almond Flour vs. Almond Meal: What's the Difference?

An almond meal can be used as an alternative to almond flour. It can also be used in cooking and baking.

Almond flour could also contain gluten making it difficult for some people to digest. If you have celiac disease or another digestive disorder, it's essential to avoid gluten-free foods.

Almond flour isn’t considered a superfood per se but it does contain healthy fats, fibre and protein and no cholesterol.

The nutritional benefits of the almond meal include magnesium, copper, iron, zinc, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, and vitamins A, B1 (thiamin), and C. In addition, it provides 25 percent of the daily value for folate, 20 percent for niacin, 15 percent for pantothenic acid, and 5 percent for riboflavin.

Almond flour is made of almonds. Almond oil is made from polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, fatty oils. Both can lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol.

Almond flour is also rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolics. These compounds prevent free radical-induced oxidative stress.

In a study published in Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry, almond flour was found to have an antioxidant activity comparable to blueberries, cranberries or pomegranates and red wine grapes juice.

Almond flour is usually sold alongside almond milk, fortified with additional nutrients.

What is the value of spices?

A spice is a seasoning that is used to enhance the flavor of food. Spices come in various forms, such as powders, liquids, gums, oils, pastes, and seeds. They can also be known as condiments, flavours, and flavor.

It's a great way of adding variety to your meals by spiceing them up. For extra flavor and excitement, you can add many spices to your dishes.

Hot pepper sauce may make soup taste better. You could also add a few cayenne peppers to a cup of rice.

Fresh ingredients are the best option to spice up your recipes. Buy organic dried herbs. Fresh herbs will last longer than dried.

Some spices are essential to cooking; however, there are some that you might prefer to avoid. Cinnamon sticks have high levels of coumarin. They should not be consumed if you have had liver disease in the past. Ginger also contains some coumarin but it is less concentrated. It's safe for those without any history of liver problems.

What is the difference between curry and curried?

There is no difference in spelling. Both words mean the same thing: Indian cuisine that includes meat and vegetables mixed with different seasonings.

Curry comes from Hindi word kari that means "to rub". It refers how spice mixtures are applied to food. Curry is typically prepared until the food is golden brown.

Curried dishes were once reserved for special occasions, but today, they're enjoyed frequently throughout India. They can be made with chicken, beef or lamb and include vegetables as well.

Plain white rice is commonly served with curried meals. Another common accompaniment is raita, a yogurt sauce, and chutney, a sweet relish.
