It is easy to make your own at-home recipes! Just follow our step-by-step guide below:

Step1 - Prepare Ingredients

  • You need to prepare all ingredients before starting this recipe.
  • To begin, you will need to peel and chop shallots (about 2 cups). Next, chop galangal root into small pieces (3 inches in length) and place aside.
  • Next, you will need to peel and slice the garlic cloves (about 4 cloves). Lemongrass stems about 1/2 inch thick should be removed and finely chopped.
  • After that, you will need to crush dried red chili peppers (about four tablespoons) before removing the seeds (optional).
  • Next, cut the kaffir-lime leaves into thin strips (5 inches). Next, remove the white part from the stem and leave it alone.
  • Next, drain and wash the shrimp paste (6 ounces), and then coarsely mashing it.
  • Measure out the sugar and salt.

Step2 - Grind Ingredients

  • Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
  • The texture should be comparable to peanut butter.
  • Take note: If you are looking to reduce oil in your dish you can add water to the mix.
