Yes. It's an ingredient in many dishes including Pad See Ew (Thai Fried Rice), and eggs cooked in coconut milk.

What's the importance of spices in your life?

Spices are seasonings that enhance the flavour of food. There are many types of spices, including powders, liquids and oils. They are also known as condiments and flavours.

Spicing up dishes is a great way to add variety to meals. Numerous spices can be added to dishes for extra flavour and excitement.

Perhaps a little hot pepper sauce will enhance the flavor of your soup. Perhaps you can add some cayenne peppers to your cup of rice.

The best way to experiment with spicing recipes is to use fresh ingredients. Look for organic dried herbs when you purchase them. Fresh herbs last longer than dried.

There are certain spices that are essential for cooking. But there are also some you might want to avoid. Cinnamon sticks have high levels of coumarin. They should not be consumed if you have had liver disease in the past. Ginger also contains some coumarin but it is less concentrated. It is safe for those who have not had liver problems in the past.

What are the 7 Indian spices that you can use?

Indian spices refers to a variety of spices that are used in Indian cooking. They include coriander and turmeric as well as cardamom, cumin and coriander. These spices add flavour and aroma to dishes by blending and complementing natural ingredients such as meats and vegetables. Combining spices creates unique flavour profiles that make Indian food so special.

Cardamom's sweet, pungent flavor is balanced with ginger and citrus notes. It is commonly used to flavour rice dishes like biryani and curries. Cumin has a strong, earthy aroma as well as a rich and nuanced flavor. It's often used in curries, dals, and meat dishes. Coriander has a sweet citrus aroma and adds a subtle nuttiness to dishes. It is often used to season vegetables and lentils.

Turmeric has an earthy flavour with mustard, spices, and pepper hints. This spice is often used in curries, and other dishes. It also has a golden hue. Fenugreek is a spice with a rich aroma and earthy tones. It also has a bitter taste. Fenugreek is used to season meat dishes such as kebabs or curries. It is spicy and pungent with citrus hints. It adds a spicy kick to dishes like soups and chutneys. Asafoetida (hing), has a strong flavor and pungent smell that can be used in place of onion and garlic in certain recipes.

These spices are a unique combination that creates Indian cuisine.

Can you put spice in a drink?

I love spices adding flavour to food. How do you make spices alive in drinks?

Spices can bring out the best of any beverage. From coffee to tea, hot chocolate to cocktails, there's nothing more satisfying than adding a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to a glass of wine or beer.

But most recipes call for ground spices, meaning you'll need fresh whole spices. Although this is logical, it can be costly, time-consuming, and takes up storage space.

This is where the magic happens. With some creativity, your favourite spices can be made into powdered forms that are easy to use. To make tasty spiced drinks, you can combine them with your favourite beverages.

Two ways can you make powders. One way is to grind whole spices into fine powder. One method involves using a mortar-and-pestle to grind spices into a finer consistency.

It doesn't matter what method you choose, the result is easier to measure out than whole spices and easier to store. Powder also keeps well so you won't run dry.

Mixing spices can be fun to create new flavors. Peppermint and spearmint can be combined to make minty water. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.

Once you have mastered the art of making powdered spices you can use that same technique for herbs. Oregano and rosemary are all popular herbs.

The possibilities are limitless. Use powdered spices to give your beverages extra flavour or to enhance the taste of dishes such as soups, salads, and pasta.

How To

How do you store your cooking spices?

I'll show you how to store spices properly for best results. First, it is important to understand the science behind how foodstuffs are stored.

Because light can diminish the flavour of spices, they should be kept in sealed containers. This is caused by oxidation, which happens when oxygen and organic compounds combine like spices.

To prevent oxidation, spices should be stored in dark cupboards. If these conditions are not met, spices will quickly lose their flavour.

You can preserve the flavor of spices by keeping them in sealed jars, away from direct sunlight.

You can flavor water by adding herbs and spices. To make a cinnamon-flavored drink, combine two teaspoons of ground ginger with half a cup of warm water. Stir and mix well. Serve immediately by adding a squeeze lemon juice.

You can add dried herbs and spices to soups, stews, casseroles, pasta, rice dishes, salads, and desserts. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly on the dish, and let it sit for five to ten minutes before you serve.

Leftover cooked vegetables, fruits and meats, as well as leftover cheese, breads, crackers, cookies or cakes can be added to favorite recipes for snacks.

For the best flavor of fresh herbs, you can chop them up or tear them apart and then add them to your favorite foods. Also, you can freeze herbs and spice by placing them into ice cube dishes or muffin cups. Once frozen, transfer them to freezer bags and zip-top plastic bag.
