Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thai use ginger?
Yes. Ginger is used extensively in traditional Thai cooking. Ginger is often used in stir-fries and soups, as well as desserts and drinks, such as lassis.
Ginger is native to China, Japan, and Korea, and its origins date back more than 5,000 years. It is believed it originated in Southeast Asia. There, it was used for medicinal purposes.
Ginger is known for stimulating digestion and relieving nausea. It may even help prevent migraines. Ginger aids in relieving muscle spasms and joint pains. It can also treat arthritis.
Ginger is most often fresh in Thailand. It is sliced into thin strips and then dried before being stored for later use. You can buy ginger root in jars or cans from Asian markets.
Can you spice up a drink?
I love how spices bring flavour to food. How do you make spices alive in drinks?
Spices are wonderful because they can add depth and flavor to any beverage. There's nothing better than adding cinnamon or nutmeg in your glass of wine or beer, whether it's coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or cocktails.
But most recipes call for ground spices, meaning you'll need fresh whole spices. Although this is logical, it can be costly, time-consuming, and takes up storage space.
That's where the magic happens. With your creativity, you can turn your favorite spices into easy-to-use powdered products. These spices can be mixed into favorite beverages to create tasty spiced drinks.
There are two ways to go about creating these powders. One way is to grind whole spices into fine powder. Another uses a mortar and pestle to grind the spices into a finer consistency.
Whatever method you choose to use, you will find that powders are much easier than whole spices. The powder is stable so you don't run low on stock.
You can even experiment with mixing different spices to create new flavours. To make minty water, you can combine spearmint and peppermint leaves. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.
Once you've learned how to make powdered spices from scratch, you can apply the same process to herbs. Some of the most common herbs are basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano and sage.
There are so many possibilities. Use powdered spices to give your beverages extra flavour or to enhance the taste of dishes such as soups, salads, and pasta.
What are the ten hottest spices?
Spices can be used to flavor foods and beverages. Some spices are more well-known than others. But there are hundreds of varieties of spices out there. So let's look at the ten most popular ones and find out why they are so well-loved.
Cooking is incomplete without spice. It adds flavor and aroma, but doesn't increase calories. Many spices contain essential vitamins, minerals, and help to keep our bodies healthy.
Here are the ten most widely used spices.
- Cinnamon is a spice that improves digestion and lowers cholesterol. It prevents the flu and colds.
- Garlic – This spice can boost immunity and fight infection. It helps lower blood pressure and aids digestion.
- Oregano – This spice increases energy levels and improves athletic performances. It is also good for memory and fighting infection.
- Black Pepper - This spice has many antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory qualities. It reduces stress and helps prevent heart disease.
- Basil -Basil also contains vitamin K and calcium. It aids in the fight against cancer cells as well as boosting metabolism.
- Salt and Vinegar - This combination makes for a delicious dish. Both vinegar and salt are effective against viruses and bacteria.
- Cloves- Clove oil - This natural remedy is great for sore throats, toothaches, and even sore throats. It is also great for muscle spasms, cramps, and other issues.
- Ginger - Ginger has been shown to reduce nausea and morning sickness in pregnancy. It is also known to clear congestion.
- Curry Powder-Curries have been around since ancient time. They were made originally with coconut milk. We now use other oils or base oils like ghee.
- Turmeric – This spice is one the oldest medicinal herbs.
You can add flavour to your next meal by using these ten most popular spices in place of salt. You might be amazed by the results.
What's the importance of spices in your life?
A spice can be described as a seasoning to enhance flavour in food. There are many types of spices, including powders, liquids and oils. They are also called condiments and flavours.
It's a great way of adding variety to your meals by spiceing them up. You can spice up dishes with many different spices for more flavor and excitement.
Hot pepper sauce may make soup taste better. Or perhaps you could mix a handful of cayenne peppers with a cup of rice.
The best way to experiment with spicing recipes is to use fresh ingredients. Organic herbs are better than dried herbs. Fresh herbs can last for longer than dried.
Although some spices are essential to cooking, there are others that you might prefer not to use. Cinnamon sticks contain high amounts of coumarin, so they should not be eaten if you have a history of liver disease. Ginger also contains high amounts of coumarin. However, it is much more concentrated. It's safe for people who don't have a history of liver problems.

Are you a master of making curry paste?
Curry paste is made from dried chillies, shallots and galangal root. It also contains lemongrass, galangal root (lemongrass), lemongrass, kaffir Lim leaf, garlic, shrimp paste and sugar. It's used extensively in Thai cuisine.
One of the most widely used condiments in Southeast Asia is curry paste. Curry paste adds a distinctive flavour to many dishes such as curries and soups, stir fries, stir-fries or rice dishes.
It is very easy to make it at home. Follow our step-by–step guide below.
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- You need to prepare all ingredients before starting this recipe.
- To begin, you will need to peel and chop shallots (about 2 cups). Next, chop galangal root into small pieces (3 inches in length) and place aside.
- Next, cut four garlic cloves into pieces. Peel and finely mince lemongrass stems (about 1/2 inch thick).
- You can then crush the red chilli bell peppers into small pieces (about 4 tablespoons), and then you can remove the seeds (optional).
- Next, cut kaffir lime leaves into thin strips (about 5 inches long). Remove the white part of the stem and set it aside.
- After that, wash and drain shrimp paste (about 6 ounces), then coarsely mash it.
- Final, weigh out salt and sugar.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
- The texture should be comparable to peanut butter.
- Take note: If you are looking to reduce oil in your dish you can add water to the mix.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Mix coconut milk with the mixture.
- Slowly add coconut water to prevent the paste from getting too sticky.
- For a milder taste, use less chillies and more galangal roots.
- You may prefer it hotter, so add more chilies or less galangalroot. The end result should be delicious.
Step4 – Serve
- Top your favorite foods with this topping.
- Enjoy!
