I love how spices bring flavour to food. How can you make spices come to life when they are used in drinks?

Spices are wonderful because they can add depth and flavor to any beverage. You can add a little cinnamon or nutmeg to any glass of wine, beer or coffee.

But most recipes call for ground spices, meaning you'll need fresh whole spices. It makes sense but is time-consuming and expensive.

This is where magic happens. With your creativity, you can turn your favorite spices into easy-to-use powdered products. Mix them with your favorite drinks to make delicious spiced beverages.

There are two possible ways to create these powders. The first involves the grinding of whole spices to make fine powder. A mortar and pestle is another method to grind the spices to a finer consistency.

It doesn't matter what method you choose, the result is easier to measure out than whole spices and easier to store. You won't run short of powder, and it keeps well.

Mixing spices can be fun to create new flavors. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. You can also make spicy ginger-ginger tea by combining ginger and cardamom seeds.

How To Make A Garlic Press?

A garlic press can be one of the most important tools in a home cook's toolbox. It makes it easy to mince garlic into a paste, puree it into soups or salad dressings, or even make a sauce. It is great for crushing whole garlic cloves in a buttery spread, or garlic salt.

But if you don't own a garlic press yet, you might wonder where to start with one. These tips will help you get started.

First, you need a large dish. Place the bowl underneath the press and pour the crushed garlic into it. Now adjust the pressure regulator to the maximum.

Next, move the handle clockwise so that you hear a click. The top portion of the press should come off, revealing a flat surface. You can slide the blade across the bowl. Continue to turn the handle counterclockwise, until the blades are closed.

Finally, remove the pressed garlic.

Here are some ways to make this versatile tool even more useful:

  • Use minced garlic in soups, sauces and salads as a seasoning or even as a garnish.
  • The press can be used to crush whole garlic cloves and make buttery spread.
  • Put whole garlic cloves on top of pizza dough, before you bake
