Frequently Asked Questions
Can you add spice to a beverage?
I love the way spices add flavour to food. But how do you make them come alive when used in drinks?
Spices are wonderful because they can add depth and flavor to any beverage. From coffee to tea, hot chocolate to cocktails, there's nothing more satisfying than adding a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to a glass of wine or beer.
However, most recipes call for ground spice so you will need fresh whole spices. This makes sense, but it is expensive, takes time, and requires storage space.
Here is where the magic happens. You can transform your favourite spices into an easy-to-use powdered form with ingenuity. To make tasty spiced drinks, you can combine them with your favourite beverages.
There are two possible ways to create these powders. One way is to grind whole spices into fine powder. Another way is to grind the spices in a mortar and pestle.
Whatever method you choose to use, you will find that powders are much easier than whole spices. The powder is stable so you don't run low on stock.
Mixing spices can be fun to create new flavors. You could make minty water by combining spearmint and peppermint. For spicy ginger tea, use ginger and cardamom capsules.
Once you've mastered making powdered spices, you can apply the same technique to herbs. Oregano and rosemary are all popular herbs.
There are so many possibilities. Powdered spices can be used to add flavour to beverages or enhance the flavor of dishes like soups, salads and pasta.
What are the 7 Indian spices?
Indian spices refers to a variety of spices that are used in Indian cooking. They typically include cardamom, cumin, coriander, turmeric, fenugreek, ginger, and asafoetida (also known as hing). These spices add flavour and aroma to dishes by blending and complementing natural ingredients such as meats and vegetables. The unique flavour profiles created by spices are what make Indian cooking special.
Cardamom has an earthy, sweet flavor with notes of ginger and citrus. It's used in many dishes, including biryani and curries. Cumin has a strong, earthy aroma as well as a rich and nuanced flavor. It's often used in curries, dals, and meat dishes. Coriander gives dishes a mild nuttiness due to its sweet citrus aroma. It is used often to season vegetables and lentils.
Turmeric is a spice that has an earthy flavor. It can be mixed with mustard, spices and pepper hints. This spice is commonly used in curries and other dishes and has a golden hue. Fenugreek possesses a rich, earthy scent, slightly bitter flavour, and earthy tone tones. It is often used in seasoning meat dishes like kebabs, curries, and kebabs. Ginger is spicy and pungent, with hints citrus. It adds the perfect kick to dishes such as curries, chutneys, and soups. Asafoetida is a spice that has strong flavors and a pungent smell.
These spices produce unique flavors, which make Indian cooking distinctive.
What are the 11 spice ingredients in Indian cooking?
Indian cuisine includes eleven spices, including cumin, coriander, cumin, mustard, fennel, and nigella seed, as well as black pepper, cloves and cinnamon sticks, dry red chill powder, turmeric, cardamom, and black pepper.
These spices are found in nearly every dish. These spices add a unique flavor to dishes like curries, chutneys and pickles, rice, bread, and desserts.
The health benefits of spices can be found in their medicinal properties. Turmeric, for example, is known to fight cancer cells. Cloves help protect against bad breath. Black pepper decreases cholesterol. Cinnamon lowers blood pressure. And ginger aids digestion.
A spice rack is a great kitchen tool because it allows you to experiment with different combinations of flavors. You can either make your own spice blends or purchase ready-made spices.
Some people choose not to add spice to their food. They believe that spices only mask natural flavors and do nothing to improve them. However, it is possible to enhance the taste of your meals by adding a little salt or pepper.
Many chefs agree that spices play a crucial role in culinary art. Many dishes would taste bland and boring without spices. So next time you're feeling adventurous, why not try a new recipe and see what happens?

How To
Do you know how to make curry paste?
Curry paste uses dried chillies, shallots, galangal root, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, garlic, shrimp paste, sugar, salt, and sometimes coconut milk. It's used extensively in Thai cuisine.
Curry paste is one the most loved condiments in Southeast Asia. Curry paste adds a distinctive flavour to many dishes such as curries and soups, stir fries, stir-fries or rice dishes.
It is very easy to make it at home. Follow our step by step guide below.
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- Before starting the recipe, you will need to prepare all ingredients.
- To begin, you will need to peel and chop shallots (about 2 cups). Then chop galangal root into small pieces (about 3 inches long) and set aside.
- Next, slice four garlic cloves. The lemongrass stems should be roughly 1/2 inch thick.
- Then, crush dried red chilli peppers (about four tablespoons) and remove the seeds (optional).
- Next, cut kaffir lime leaves into thin strips (about 5 inches long). Set aside the white portion of the stem.
- Once the shrimp paste has been drained, rinse it and then coarsely crush it.
- Finally, measure out sugar and salt.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.
- It should have a texture similar to peanut butter.
- Note: if you want to reduce the amount of oil in the dish, you can substitute some water for some of the oil.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Add coconut milk to the mixture, and mix well.
- Add coconut milk slowly so that the paste does not become too sticky.
- If you like it milder, reduce the number of chillies used and add more galangal root.
- For a more spicy taste, increase the amount of chillies and reduce the use of galangal root. The final result should taste good to you.
Step4 – Serve
- Serve with your favourite foods.
- Enjoy!
