Although almond flour isn’t considered to be a “superfood”, it is rich in healthy fats and fibre.

The almond meal provides nutritional benefits such as magnesium, iron, zinc and manganese. It also contains vitamin A, B1 (thiamin), C, and folate.

Because it's made from almonds, almond flour contains monounsaturated fatty acids, while almond oil contains polyunsaturated fatty acids. Both help to lower LDL (bad), and increase HDL levels.

Almond flour is also high in antioxidants, such as phenolics, flavonoids and proanthocyanidins. These compounds are effective in preventing oxidative damages caused by free radicals.

In a study published in Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry, almond flour was found to have an antioxidant activity comparable to blueberries, cranberries or pomegranates and red wine grapes juice.

Almond milk is often sold with almond flour, which has been fortified with additional nutrients.


How to Store Spices

Keep them in an airtight container away from light and heat.

To store spices for longer periods of time, place them in a dark cupboard. This will keep the spices fresh and prevent any oxidation.

Store your spices in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. You can lose the aroma and flavor of your spice if it is near a heater or window.

How do you make a garlic press?

A garlic press is one of the most valuable tools in any home cook's arsenal. You can quickly mince garlic or make a paste. You can also crush whole garlic cloves to make buttery spreads or garlic seasonings.

It's possible to be confused if you don’t yet own a garlicpress. These tips will help you get started.

First, you need a large dish. Then, place the bowl under the press and add the crushed garlic. Now adjust the pressure regulator to the maximum.

Next, turn the handle counterclockwise until you hear a click. The top of the press should lift up and expose a flat surface. This will allow you slide the blade back-and-forth over the bowl. Continue turning the handle in a clockwise direction until the blades come to a close.

Finally, remove the pressed garlic and enjoy!
