Can you add spice to a beverage?

I love how spices add flavor to food. But how do you make spices liven up when they are added to drinks?

Spices can bring out the best of any beverage. There's nothing better than adding cinnamon or nutmeg in your glass of wine or beer, whether it's coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or cocktails.

But, since most recipes call to ground spices, you'll need whole spices. While this makes sense, it is costly, takes time and requires storage space.

Here's where the magic happens. With a little creativity, you can make your favorite spices easy to use in powdered form. Then you can mix them into your favourite beverages to create delicious spiced drinks.

There are two possible ways to create these powders. A second method is to grind whole spices into fine powder. Another method is to use a mortar & pestle to grind the spices until they are finely ground.

You'll find it easier to make powder than whole spices, regardless of the method. Powder keeps well, so you will never run out.

You can even experiment with mixing different spices to create new flavours. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. You can also make spicy ginger-ginger tea by combining ginger and cardamom seeds.

Once you've mastered making powdered spices, you can apply the same technique to herbs. Oregano and rosemary are all popular herbs.

There are many options. Use powdered spices to give your beverages extra flavour or to enhance the taste of dishes such as soups, salads, and pasta.

What kind of mint are used in Thai cuisine?

Thai cuisine uses the most popular type of mint, the lime-leaf (Mentha cevina).

Mint is versatile and can be used both in sweet and savoury recipes. It is crucial to use authentic Thai flavors by using the right spices, herbs, aromatics.

What is the difference between cooking Whole and Ground Spices? Ground Spices?

There isn't any difference between cooking with whole spices and ground spices. All spices are ground after harvesting. The quality is the same.

However, the price difference is substantial. Whole spices can be more expensive due to the labor involved in their processing. But the taste is worth it.

When you buy bulk spices, you may get additional discounts. An example: If you buy an entire bag full of cinnamon sticks, you might get a discount.

This is true for cloves, ginger and cardamom. You might be able to save money by buying these spices in bulk.

Ground spices last much longer than whole spices. Ground spices lose their potency very quickly due to oxidation.

The main reason we recommend whole spices over dried is that they can add lots of flavor to recipes.

For instance, you can make a delicious curry with whole turmeric instead of ground turmeric. You can also use whole coriander to create a spice combination for chicken dishes.

Additionally, spices need to be ground. It is sensible to purchase large quantities when buying whole spices. This will ensure that you don't run out of spices quickly.

How to store cooking spices?

This article will show you how to store cooking spice for optimal performance. First, let's understand how foods are stored.

Keep spices out of direct sunlight as light will reduce their flavor. This is due to oxidation which occurs when oxygen combines with organic compounds such as those found in spices.

To prevent oxidation of spices, keep them in dark cupboards. Spice tends to lose its flavour quickly if these conditions aren't met.

It is the best way to preserve spices' flavours by keeping them out of direct sunlight.

To create a flavorful drink, you can add spices and herbs to water. For example, you could mix 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon in 1/2 cup of warm milk and stir it well. Serve immediately with a squeeze of lemon.

Dried herbs can be added to soups stews, casseroles pasta dishes rice dishes salads and desserts. Just sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the dish. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before you serve.

You can add leftover cooked vegetables, fruits, meats and shellfish to your favorite recipes as snacks.

Fresh herbs and spices can be enjoyed by being chopped or broken up. You can freeze herbs or spices by placing them on ice cube tray or muffin cups. Once frozen, transfer to freezer bags or zip-top plastic bags.
