How To

How do you store your cooking spices?

Here's how to store your cooking spices for maximum performance. First of all, we need to establish an understanding of the science behind the storage of foodstuffs.

Because light can diminish the flavour of spices, they should be kept in sealed containers. This is due to oxygen combining with organic compounds, such as spices.

Spices should be kept in the dark cupboards and sealed tightly in airtight containers to prevent oxidation. If these conditions are not met, spices will quickly lose their flavour.

Keep spices in airtight containers away from direct sun to preserve their flavour.

You can flavor water by adding herbs and spices. To make a cinnamon-flavored drink, combine two teaspoons of ground ginger with half a cup of warm water. Stir and mix well. Serve immediately by adding a squeeze lemon juice.

Add dried herbs and spices to soups. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly on the dish, and let it sit for five to ten minutes before you serve.

You can add leftover cooked vegetables, fruits, meats and shellfish to your favorite recipes as snacks.

For the best flavor of fresh herbs, you can chop them up or tear them apart and then add them to your favorite foods. You can also freeze spices and herbs by placing them in muffin cups or ice trays and freezing them. Once frozen transfer to zip-top plastic bags or freezer bags.
