Frequently Asked Questions

Can you add spice into a drink

I love how spices add flavor to food. But how do you make spices liven up when they are added to drinks?

Spices can bring out the best of any beverage. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to your favorite beverage, such as coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

But, since most recipes call to ground spices, you'll need whole spices. It makes sense but is time-consuming and expensive.

That's where the magic happens. You can transform your favourite spices into an easy-to-use powdered form with ingenuity. To make tasty spiced drinks, you can combine them with your favourite beverages.

There are two ways to go about creating these powders. One method involves grinding whole spices into fine powder. Another way is to grind the spices in a mortar and pestle.

You'll find it easier to make powder than whole spices, regardless of the method. Powder also keeps well so you won't run dry.

Mixing different spices can create new flavors. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. For spicy ginger tea, use ginger and cardamom capsules.

Once you've learned how to make powdered spices from scratch, you can apply the same process to herbs. You can use basil, rosemary and thyme as common herbs.

There are many options. You can use powdered spice to enhance the flavour of your drinks or dishes like soups, salads, or pasta.

What is the difference between cooking with whole spices and using ground spices? Ground Spices?

There is no difference between cooking whole spices and with ground spices. After harvesting, all spices are ground. The quality is the same.

The price difference is however significant. Whole spices are more expensive due to the labour required for processing them. The flavor is well worth the effort.

If you purchase whole spices in bulk, you might get an additional discount. You might get a discount if your entire bag is of cinnamon sticks.

The same goes for nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc. This can help you save money on spices if you buy them in bulk.

Whole spices can also last longer than the ground spices. Ground spices lose their potency very quickly due to oxidation.

But the main reason why we recommend purchasing whole spices is that they add a lot of character to recipes.

For instance, you can make a delicious curry with whole turmeric instead of ground turmeric. For chicken dishes, whole coriander seeds can be ground to make a spice blend.

Also, grinding spices takes time. When you buy whole spices, it makes sense to buy a large quantity. That way, you won't run out of spices too fast.

What are the most common spices, condiments and seasonings that Thais use in their cuisine?

Thai cuisine is a mixture of Asian influences. Its roots are found in India and China, as well as Southeast Asia.

The essential ingredient of Thai food is freshness. It is easier to get the best flavour from ingredients if they are picked earlier and cooked quickly. This is why meat, fish and vegetables, as well fruits, vegetables, herbs, seeds, and nuts are often eaten raw, then heated.

Spices and sauces add complexity and fragrance to dishes. Fresh basil, cilantro, mint, coriander (cilantro), lemongrass, ginger, turmeric, garlic, chillies, chilli paste, soy sauce, tamarind juice, oyster sauce, palm sugar, coconut milk, lime leaves, galangal root, curry powder, shrimp paste, fish sauce, tamarind water, rice vinegar, etc. They are frequently used.

How To

How to decide what spices to buy?

You need to be able to select the right herbs and spices to use in your cooking. There are many options available, so how do you choose which ones to add in your pantry?

Three factors are important to consider when choosing spices. They are the taste profile, shelf live, and price. There are many flavour profiles that can be used depending on how you cook meat, poultry, fish and vegetables as well as beans, grains, pastas, eggs, bread, cakes, and other foods. Once you have chosen a category, you can narrow down your choices by taking into account these differences.

The shelf life of spices can also vary. Some spices keep forever, while some others are prone to deterioration quickly. Cayenne pepper has a long shelf life, while oregano is only good for two months. There's also the cost. The price of spices can vary from $1 per tablespoon to over $100 per ounce. This means you have to strike the right balance between quality and cost.

Also, you will need to choose whether organic or non-organic ingredients are more appealing. Organic products are safer for the environment and contain less pesticides and chemicals than their conventional counterparts. However, they often cost more, so you'll need to weigh those costs against the benefits.

Online shopping is the best method to ensure that you get the right spices for the kitchen. Online retailers offer detailed information about each product, including reviews, pricing, ratings, and ingredient lists.

After narrowing down your options, you can place an order directly with the retailer. You should store your items in airtight containers, away from heat and sunlight once you receive them.
