Frequently Asked Questions
Can you add spice to a beverage?
It's amazing how spices can add flavour and flavor to food. How can you make spices come to life when they are used in drinks?
Spices are wonderful because they can add depth and flavor to any beverage. From coffee to tea, hot chocolate to cocktails, there's nothing more satisfying than adding a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to a glass of wine or beer.
But, since most recipes call to ground spices, you'll need whole spices. This is sensible, but it can be expensive, time-consuming, and requires storage space.
Here's where the magic happens. With some creativity, your favourite spices can be made into powdered forms that are easy to use. Mix them with your favorite drinks to make delicious spiced beverages.
There are two methods to make these powders. One method involves grinding whole spices into fine powder. One method involves using a mortar-and-pestle to grind spices into a finer consistency.
Whatever method you choose to use, you will find that powders are much easier than whole spices. Plus, the powder keeps well so that you won't run out of stock.
You can experiment with mixing spices to create different flavours. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.
Once you've mastered making powdered spices, you can apply the same technique to herbs. Basil, rosemary, thyme and sage are some of the most popular herbs.
There are so many possibilities. Powdered spices can enhance the flavor and texture of beverages, such as soups or salads, as well as the taste of pasta.
Almond Flour or Almond Meal? What is the difference?
Almond meal can be substituted for almond flour and is versatile enough to be used in baking, cooking and even making nut-free meals.
Almond flour might also contain gluten, which can make it hard to digest. Gluten-free foods should be avoided if you have celiac Disease or any other digestive condition.
Almond flour isn't considered "superfood", but it is high in healthy fats, fibres, protein, vitamin E, and sodium.
The almond meal offers many nutritional benefits including iron, magnesium, zinc, manganese (thiamin), calcium, vitamin A, B1 and Vitamin C.
Almond flour is made with almonds. Almond oils contain polyunsaturated essential fatty acids. Both types reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase HDL ("good") cholesterol.
Almond flour is also high in antioxidants, such as phenolics, flavonoids and proanthocyanidins. These compounds protect against free radical-induced oxidative harm.
The Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry published a study that found almond flour to have the same antioxidant activity as blueberries, cranberries and pomegranates.
Almond flour is typically sold along with almond milk, which is fortified to add additional nutrients.
What is the difference in curry and curried?
There is no difference between the spellings. Both words refer the same thing: Indian food that uses meats and vegetables along with different seasonings.
Curry is derived in Hindi from kari, which means to rub. This refers the way that the spice mix is applied onto the food. Curry foods are usually cooked until golden brown.
Curried dishes are no longer reserved for special occasions. They're now commonplace in India. You can choose from chicken, beef, lamb or fish as well as vegetables and rice.
Plain white rice is usually served with curried dishes. Another common accompaniment is raita, a yogurt sauce, and chutney, a sweet relish.
Is garlic used in Thai cooking?
Thai cuisine makes use of garlic. Garlic is often added to dishes such as salads, soups, stir-fries, curries, sauces, and rice.
Thai garlic is chopped and fried together with ginger, shallots and other spices. It is also often eaten with sticky rice.
Chilli paste, salt and lime juice are the most popular ways to eat garlic. This is "Nam Phrik" or "namphrik". Nam phrik is often accompanied by grilled chicken or beef.

- First, peel and chop shallots (2 cups). Then, cut the galangal roots into small pieces (approximately 3 inches in length), and then set aside.
- Next, remove and cut the cloves of garlic (about four cloves). Next, peel and mince the lemongrass stems (about 1/2-inch thick).
- Then, crush dried red chilli peppers (about four tablespoons) and remove the seeds (optional).
- Next, cut kaffir lime leaves into thin strips (about 5 inches long). Next, remove the white part from the stem and leave it alone.
- After draining the shrimp paste, wash it well and then coarsely smash it.
- Measure out the sugar and salt.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Grind all ingredients together until smooth.
- The texture should look similar to peanut-butter.
- Take note: If you are looking to reduce oil in your dish you can add water to the mix.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Add coconut milk to the mixture, and mix well.
- You should slowly add the coconut milk so that it doesn't get too sticky.
- For a milder taste, use less chillies and more galangal roots.
- You may prefer it hotter, so add more chilies or less galangalroot. The final product should be tasty to you.
Step4 - Serve
- Top it with your favorite foods.
- Enjoy!
