Can you put spice in a drink?

I love the way spices add flavour to food. But how can you make them live when they're used in drinks.

Spices can bring out the best of any beverage. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to your favorite beverage, such as coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

However, most recipes call for ground spice so you will need fresh whole spices. This makes sense, but it is expensive, takes time, and requires storage space.

Here's where the magic happens. You can transform your favourite spices into an easy-to-use powdered form with ingenuity. You can then mix the spices into your favorite beverages to make delicious spiced drinks.

These powders can be made in two ways. One method involves grinding whole spices into fine powder. Another way is to grind the spices in a mortar and pestle.

You'll find it easier to make powder than whole spices, regardless of the method. Powder also keeps well so you won't run dry.

You can even experiment with mixing different spices to create new flavours. For example, you could combine peppermint and spearmint leaves to make minty water. To make spicy ginger tea, you can also combine ginger and cardamom pods.

Once you've learned how to make powdered spices from scratch, you can apply the same process to herbs. Oregano and rosemary are all popular herbs.

The possibilities are limitless. You can use powdered spice to enhance the flavour of your drinks or dishes like soups, salads, or pasta.

From salads to casseroles, soups to pasta dishes, these versatile vegetables make tasty additions to most meals. You may not know, but many spices and herbs can go well with potatoes.

Can garlic be used in Thai cooking

Thai cuisine makes use of garlic. Garlic is commonly added to salads.

Thai garlic is chopped and fried together with ginger, shallots and other spices. You can also eat it with sticky rice.

Garlic can be eaten in a variety of ways. This is "Nam Phrik" or "namphrik". Nam Phrik is often served alongside grilled chicken, beef, or pork.


Almond Flour or Almond Meal? What is the difference?

A almond meal is a versatile almond flour alternative that can be used to bake, cook, or even make nut-free dishes.

Almond flour could also contain gluten making it difficult for some people to digest. Avoid gluten-free food if you have celiac disease, or any other digestive disorder.

While almond flour isn't considered a "superfood" per se, it contains healthy fats, fibre, protein, and vitamin E. It's also low in calories and sodium and contains no cholesterol.

The almond meal offers many nutritional benefits including iron, magnesium, zinc, manganese (thiamin), calcium, vitamin A, B1 and Vitamin C.

Almond flour, made from almonds contains monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oil. Both help to lower LDL (bad), and increase HDL levels.

Almond flour is also rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolics. These compounds protect against oxidative damage caused by free radicals.

A study published by the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry revealed that almond flour had an antioxidant activity equal to that of blueberries.

Almond flour is usually sold alongside almond milk, fortified with additional nutrients.


Does Thai use ginger?

Yes. Traditional Thai cooking makes extensive use of ginger. It is often added to stir-fries and soups and is also commonly used in desserts and drinks such as lassis.

Ginger is a common ginger plant in China, Japan, Korea, and elsewhere. Its origins can be traced back to more than 5,000years ago. It is believed that ginger originated in Southeast Asia where it was grown for medicinal purposes.

Ginger has been shown to reduce nausea and stimulate digestion. It may even help prevent migraines. In addition, ginger aids in reducing muscle spasms, relieving joint pains, and treating arthritis.

Ginger is most commonly used fresh in Thailand. The ginger root is then cut into thin strips. Once dried, it can be stored for future use. You can buy ginger root in jars or cans from Asian markets.

How do you store your cooking spices?

How to store cooking spices in a way that maximizes their performance. First, we must understand how food is stored.

Spices are stored in airtight containers away from the light because exposure to light diminishes their flavour. This is due to oxygen combining with organic compounds, such as spices.

Spices should be kept in the dark cupboards and sealed tightly in airtight containers to prevent oxidation. These conditions can cause spices to quickly lose their flavor.

It is the best way to preserve spices' flavours by keeping them out of direct sunlight.

You can flavor water by adding herbs and spices. To make a cinnamon-flavored drink, combine two teaspoons of ground ginger with half a cup of warm water. Stir and mix well. Add a squeeze or lemon juice to the mixture and serve immediately.

Dry herbs and spices can also be used in soups, stews or casseroles. Simply sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the dish and sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.

As snacks, leftover cooked vegetables and fruits can be added into your favourite recipes.

If you want to take advantage of the flavours of fresh herbs and spices, chop or tear them up and add them to foods while they're still hot. Also, you can freeze herbs and spice by placing them into ice cube dishes or muffin cups. Transfer frozen items to zip-top or freezer bags.
